Dr. Sheh Vahid is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Being raised in a family of dentists , her father a pediatric dentist, mother an orthodontist (both graduates of the University of Rochester), and her older brother a general dentist (graduate of the University of Michigan), Dr. Sheh always knew her passion was in the field of dentistry. During her high school years, she shadowed at her parents private practice and helped with assisting, sterilization, and taking radiographs. It was then that she became more interested in working with and helping children through pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Sheh initially attended Michigan State University for her pre-doctoral education and earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Physiology. She chose the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she was offered the Deans scholarship. She completed her Doctoral degree in 2008 with honors and continued her education at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center completing a one year General Dentistry Residency (AEGD) with focus in Pediatric Dentistry. During that year she actively participated in the Community Dentistry Program to provide dental care to underserved school children of Rochester. Moving on, Dr. Sheh relocated to suburbs of Philadelphia and worked as a general dentist in a pediatric dental practice (Cavity Busters) for one year. Knowing that her true passion lied in helping children, she returned home to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2010 and continued her education at the University of Michigan to become a board certified pediatric dentist. Her residency training involved treating children of all ages from infancy through adolescence including those with special needs and mental or physical disabilities. She excelled in approaching each child with their unique needs through various behavior management techniques such as simple communication and management to use of nitrous oxide, oral sedations and, when necessary, treatment in the operating room under general anesthesia. Aside from the clinical training, Dr. Shehs research interest was in studying the infant oral health, specifically comparing the outcome of early versus late first dental visits in the preschool aged children of Flint, Michigan. This research earned her a Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry and was presented at the annual meeting of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Following her residency training, Dr. Sheh practiced in Livonia, Michigan until she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in January of 2014 and joined Dr. Powell at Dentistry for Children and Teens. Like Dr. Powell, Dr. Sheh prefers a close relationship with her patients and their families and uses her training and experience to treat each child in a unique and individual way.

Dr. Sheh is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (GAPD) and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SSPD). She currently lives in Chamblee, Atlanta and enjoys spending her spare time working out, bike riding, dinning out, skiing, and spending time with friends and family.

My experience was always great, and I went here for over 5 years! The doctors are nice, and while they haven't been available during the pandemic, the Xboxes in the lobby have made me look forward to going to the dentist. I'm glad that my parents chose this place for me, and I'm going to miss it.

We really like this place. I know that growing up, I was always dreading the dentist (still am) but my kids are 10 and 12 and they are always so happy to have dentist appointments. I always feel like I get a good explanation of what is going on with their teeth, and even though I trust them, it's nice that they take the time to make sure parents know what is going on.

We will be coming back soon. Everyone was very attentive, courteous and answered all of our questions. And we had a lot of questions since our kiddo is going through the transition of getting permanent teeth.

As a child I always had awful experiences at the dentist. Finding a gentle, child friendly dentist was important. Both of my children have been going to Dr. Powell since they were 3 years old. And both love going to the dentist and getting their teeth cleaned. From the beginning the entire office staff made it their mission to make the visits pleasant. One of my children has sensory issues and the hygienist from the beginning trained him to tolerate all the noises, sensations and procedures. I highly recommend this practice for young children and children with specific needs.

The overall dental portion of the experience seemed fine. However, like most medical and dental offices this office gives you the paperwork to fill out at home. I did it weeks in advance for my son. Our insurance plan is a little different than most and the office needed additional information to process my son's appointment. I expect that to be done in advance as well, not when I'm wrangling a 2 year old in your office. I also didn't appreciate having to hoist a 32+ lb toddler 4.5 feet in the air with my hand clearly in a wrist brace from an injury I suffered earlier in the week.

My kiddo has been going to this office for 4 years. Everyone here is great with the kids... from the girls at the front desk to the dental hygienists and docs. My son absolutely loves them. They always greet him with a smile and ask about his day, as they do with all the kids, and always makes sure to put him at ease at every visit. He says they always make his visits good visits.
