On a personal note, I am happily married to my wonderful husband, Jeff, and we have four handsome sons and one beautiful daughter. We spend our free time trail riding, camping and kayaking. We share our farm in Dinwiddie County with our rescued dogs and cats and our Percherons, Saddlebreds, Quarter Horses and Bethlehem Burrow.
Lisa is originally from Durham, North Carolina and loves everything about the beach, especially Topsail Beach! She moved to Virginia to continue her career in dentistry and joined Dentistry by Design as the Practice Manager in April 2021. She considers herself a 'salty mermaid' and loves spending time with family and friends. Her rescue dogs (Guinness and Raven) are her children and travel everywhere with her!
Starr is a native of Colonial Heights and joined Dentistry by Design as the Treatment Coordinator in May 2020. She is happily married to her husband and loves spending time with her daughter McKenna. She is unrivaled in sassiness, having perfected it over the years!
Kaitlyn is a graduate of Richard Bland Community College, having received her Associates Degree in Science with a certificate in liberal arts in 2017. She has been serving as Patient Care Coordinator for Dentistry by Design since April 2021. She has a passion for photography and loves spending time with both her husband and two doggies!
Karen was born and raised in Chesterfield, Virginia. She did her undergraduate training at John Tyler and she received her hygiene training at The Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. She was awarded a Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2003.
Karen has been with the practice since 2003. You will not meet anyone as nice as Karen. She cares deeply for the welfare of the patients that she sees and always goes the extra mile. Karen can be seen carefully explaining the importance of improved oral hygiene to a grade schooler, or helping an elderly person with physical limitations discover a way that they can be successful with flossing! She is wise beyond her years.
Megan is from Emporia and currently lives in Blackstone. Megan has been a part of the dental field since 2003. Before becoming a hygienist, Megan worked as both a dental assistant and dental billing specialist. She graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist from Halifax Community College in 2012. In her spare time she assists with Poplar Hill Venue and is currently focused on her own Bed and Breakfast opening in Blackstone. Megan also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and being around horses, cats, and dogs.
Sharon Chandler has been in the dental field for years now first starting out as a dental assistant while completing her bachelors degree (B.A.) in the Biological Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. She continued on to complete the dental hygiene program at Thomas Nelson Community College. Sharon joined Dentistry by Design in 2017 and is thankful for having found a great team to work with everyday. Sharon strives to reverse a patient's previous negative dental memories into patients who are happy and comfortable to be receiving dental care. She and her husband, Jonathan have a beautiful daughter together and one crazy dog. They enjoy spending time as a family.
There is so much to be said about Jenny that it is difficult to know where to begin. Jenny has been with Dentistry by Design since 1992. Since that time, she has become completely indispensable. Jenny can virtually do it all, from minor repairs on equipment to creating the most beautiful CEREC restorations possible. She is kind, thoughtful, and she is a true artist.
Chelsea is a dental assistant at our office and has been with our office for six years. She was born and raised in Chesterfield, Virginia. Chelsea obtained her associates in applied science for dental assisting from ECPI in 2013. Chelsea focuses on organizing our hygiene visits and assisting our hygienists to make each visit an excellent experience for our patients. Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys spending her time with her three children and her fianc Brad.
Loren has been in the dental field for over two years and enjoys every minute of it! When she's not at work enjoying lovely smiles she usually is out by the water enjoying time spent with her black lab named Bear or out riding horses.

My father and I had been a patients of Dr. Vernon for over 30 years. I called to request the new dentist, Dr. Patel, assist me in getting some antibiotics for my father's teeth cleaning. I only requested that they call the primacy care doctor's office. They told me to contact my father's surgeon. My father has no surgeon. When I called back to speak to the office manager, she went belligerent telling me that she told me last time Dr. Patel would not provide the antibiotics. I tried explaining what I requested, but because she is unprofessional, she would not listen. She told me that they were no longer affiliated with Dr. Vernon. That was obvious, because this would have never happened under her watch. We got into a shouting match, so I hung up. Katelyn, the office manager then had someone else to call and "dismiss me" as if I were a child from the practice. I never planned on ever going back. I then asked to speak for Dr.Patel. The Katelyn on the phone told me she had left for the day. In 30 minutes, Dr.Patel called me back. She listened for about 5 minutes and then went to listen to the call tape. She said she couldn't let me return because I told Katelyn that she was a child to me. I respected her opinion, but told her this was unprofessional and potentially racist. She assured me otherwise and said your father can still come to my practice. Was she kidding? I told her that if they mistreated me they would definitely mistreat a senior citizen. I just asked for our dental records. These unprofessional people took it to another level trying to mail a dismissal letter to my residence. I returned it to sender. But that wasn't enough, they went in my file and emailed me the letter and my dental records through an unsecured email. I told them please do not email me or contact me again or I would consider this harassment. Dr. Vernon a wonderful professional dentist built this practice over 30 years with love and labor. Dr. Patel and her staff have no clue how to treat customers who are middle aged and senior. I know they are idiots because my father and I are guaranteed payments through our insurances. Don't they have office work to do versus emailing me for something petty they did? This is no longer "Dentistry by Design " but is "Dentistry for the Dumps!"

From someone who is deathly afraid of visits to the dentist, this was an exceptional experience. Brittany and Dr Maseud were extremely attentive, professional, and totally put me at ease. I will definitely be a return and regular patient.the entire staff go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and in good care

This is my first time going to this establishment. It was beautiful on the inside. And more upscale than your regular dentist office. I kinda felt like I was in the spa I was so relaxed. They addressed each and every problem or question that I had. Megan talked to me the whole time whether it was her talking me through what she was doing to just have a conversation to keep me entertained. I'm happy to call this my new favorite dentistry. I will be going here and here only moving forward. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Growing up I had several bad experiences with my pediatric dentist and since then have had a pretty large fear of seeing the dentist. Dentistry by design is by far one of the most comforting and relaxing dentist office I've ever been to, and they always accommodate any nervousness I have. They are extremely gentle and they always explain everything they do, which I appreciate greatly due to my dental anxiety. 5 stars!!!
