Dentistat has been serving the Dental Benefits Industry since 1968. Originally founded as Dental Insurance Consultants (DIC), the company specialized in professional claim review. In 1981, a new company was formed, Insurance Dentists of America (IDOA). IDOA helped identify dentists to join Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO). IDOA credentialed, reviewed the applicants utilization profile and performed ongoing Utilization Management. In 1994, the two companies were merged into what is now known as Dentistat.
Joshua oversees the IT infrastructure and is a primary interface with our clients. He plays a vital role in architecting go2dental applications and systems to bring customized solutions to our clients.
Our data comes directly from our client's claims. We gather each client's data on a six month basis. We combine four 6-month segments into a Big Mash. The Big Mash is used to review utilization for a specific geographic area, individual dentists profile and more.
Our staff reviews each applicant's utilization profile to determine whether they have an acceptable practice pattern. From there we continue to monitor the dentists Utilization profile on an ongoing basis.
Dentistat developed a proprietary Provider Utilization Pattern program. Dental Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) receive a discount from a dentist in return for access to members that want to visit a PPO dentist. It is important to manage the utilization of the dentists in the dental network to ensure over utilization doesnt offset the discounted fees. A dentists profile can be reviewed prior to acceptance into the network and on an ongoing basis.
