Dr. Robert V. Scalera graduated from Barringer High School in Newark NJ and attended Rutgers University earning a Bachelor of Science degree. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Temple University, he opened his solo practice of dentistry in 1959.
Dr. Scalera served as the Dental Inspector of the Scotch Plains Fanwood School System for 19 years during the 1960s and 1970s.Active in the community, Dr. Scalera was a 45 year member of the local Rotary Club and served as President in 1969. He was honored by Rotary International for his dedication receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
Dr. Robert V. Scalera, Jr. attended grade school in Scotch Plains and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Upon graduation from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Scalera, Jr. joined his father in 1983.
Dr. Scalera Jr. is a member of the Central Dental Society, New Jersey Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He is a former clinical instructor at Union County Colleges Allied Dental Health Program.
He has been active in the emergency services since 1974 and has served in a variety of leadership roles including Fire Chief, EMS Captain, and a Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management in Watchung NJ. He continues to volunteer as a Lieutenant for the Ocean Beach Fire Company.
Following dental school, she completed her specialty training at the New York Universitys College of Dentistrys Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. In 2007, Dr. Merker became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Merker is a member of the New Jersey Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, Northeastern Society of Periodontists, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Maureen Maximos is a 2018graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry,where she was on the Deans List and a Deans Scholarship recipient. While at VCU, Dr. Maximos was President of the General Dentistry Club, member of the Class Executive Board, and Orientation Chairperson. She also served as Vice-President and Historian of the SAME Multicultural Club.
Receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Rutgers, the State University, Dr. Maximos also had a Minor in Chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2014. There she was also a member of the Deans List, recipient of a Honors Scholarship and Honors College Member with Distinction.
Dr. Maximos is proficient in the diagnoses and treatment planning of complex, multidisciplinary cases and comfortable treating both medically compromised and emergency patients following her residency atNewark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Maria A. Jalloh is a graduate of Rutgers University, studied Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ masters program, and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at New York University College of Dentistry.
At NYU College of Dentistry, Dr. Jalloh was a member of a team consisting of prosthodontists and biomedical engineers researching the 'Osseointegration in Dental Implants' and was bestowed an Honors in Research for her contributions to the study. Following dental school, she completed a general practice residency at the V.A. Medical Center at Lyons, NJ.
Dr. Jalloh is Invisalign certified and provides all phases of general dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.

I've been receiving great dental care for more than 20 years from Dr. Bob and his outstanding colleagues. Just went for my 6 month check-up and, as always, I'm impressed with the quality of services. They are consistently on time and extremely knowledgeable in answering questions. Overall, a first class operation that also supports and sponsors local town events/initiatives. Highly recommended!

Arrived at the office at 9:50 for. 10:00 appointment Sat in the office for 45 minutes waiting my turn wearing a mask which hardly allows you to breath . The mask in one thing, clearly for a doctor to have total disregard for the schedule of his patients clearly makes me think he can care less about the quality of work he performs I got up and said cancel the appointment and they could care less

I do not generally write reviews but my experiences over the past few years with Dr. Scalera and his staff at Dentalcare Associates have been so satisfying that I felt that they should be recognized for their professional, pleasant and caring service. I first came to their practice to have my original set of dentures replaced after losing confidence with my prior dentist who somehow always found a reason to perform some unnecessary procedure just to squeeze some more money out of me. Dr Scalera took the time to fit the new dentures properly and adjusted them on the follow-up visits until they fit perfectly. At no time has he ever suggested any additional procedures. Last night I dropped my lower denture and it broke which distressed me greatly because I thought that I would need a new denture. I called the office first thing this morning and they had me come in right away. Dr. Scalera reassured me that it would be repaired the same day. I picked up my good as new denture this afternoon and want to thank everyone at Dentalcare for their great service and recommend then to anyone looking for a dental practice that is caring and that they can trust.

Stumbled on this group quite accidently, having pleasure to experience dr. Bob Scalera Jr as my dentist. He is wonderful, pays attention to the smallest details; painlessly extracted one of my teeth and fitted me with new partial dentures. Never in my 73 years was looking forward to visiting any of my previous dentists. Rachel is fantastic as his assistant and the ladies in the office great with booking appointments and keeping schedules on time.

Dr. Scalera and his entire staff could not have been more helptul to my 89 yr old mom who was getting full dentures for the first time in her life. They showed her extra patience and care, and everyone has a sense of humor which lightens the mood. My mom, my sisters and I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Went to have a crown done. Great staff and awesome doctor. Very reasonable prices. The front desk girl Jenn was very knowledgeable as well as Veronica. I couldn't ask for better service. 5 stars all the way. Highly recommended!!!
