She was born and raised in Korea before moving to the United States for her education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at University of California Berkley. From there, Dr. Chaekal earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University as well as her Certificate of Orthodontics.
Dr. Chaekal has been an Elite Preferred Provider for Invisalign treatment (reserved for the top 1% of providers nationwide) since 2008. She is one of a handful of women in the world to have earned this title, successfully treating more than 1,000 patients with Invisalign, and accomplishing outstanding results.
Dr. Gilbert Ing was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After attending Northeastern Illinois University, he went to Universidad Central Del Este where he achieved his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1988. From there, Dr. Ing attended the University of the Pacific's International Dental Studies Program in San Francisco, California.
He moved to Oahu in 1991 and worked for a dental clinic until 1999. He then went on to a private practice in Kailua, Oahu. In 2001, Dr. Ing completed the UCLA Aesthetic Continuum for cosmetic dentistry and then divided time between his personal dental office and Dr. Daniel Mayeda's Adult Comprehensive and Cosmetic dental practice in Kahului, Maui. Dr. Ing is proud to have served the Kailua and Kahului communities with comprehensive and preventive dental care.
Dr. Hsiao-Ling Hoshino was born in Taipei, Taiwan but grew up in Englewood, Colorado. Her education began at the University of Michigan earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and a Master of Public Health degree in Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology. Her love for science and passion for education took her to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where she obtained her Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics. Dr. Hoshinos education was applied to cancer research at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania caring for the terminally ill. With many patients complaining of tooth pain, Dr. Hoshino decided to pursue a profession in dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh receiving a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She spent two more years in Pittsburgh researching the prevention of craniofacial bone and tooth deformities for a specialty program to obtain her Certificate in Endodontics. She was chosen to present her research at the 2014 American Association of Endodontists Annual Session.
Dr. Hoshino feels the most important step towards successful dental treatment is patient education. She believes patient comfort is a priority during treatment while using modern techniques and equipment. Her compassion and respect for the specialty of Endodontics has Dr. Hoshino involved in educating other dentists and herself by conducting and attending continuing education courses.
Dr. Hoshino moved to Hawaii to be with her husband, Dr. Matt Hoshino, a practicing local Endodontist. When Dr. Hoshino is not performing root canal treatment, she enjoys outdoor activities such as running on the beach and fishing.

Awesome first experience! The hygienist, Chris (not sure of the spelling. Sorry if I got it wrong!), was amazing! I'm so used to getting that painful floss (you know the feeling?), but I was pleasantly surprised that it felt almost as if I was flossing my own teeth. Lol I mean, she probably did a way better job, but the point is...that it didn't hurt whatsoever. My teeth felt and looked super clean afterwards. Dr. Ing took the time to explain the X-rays, answer my questions and was thorough in his exam, doing some things I don't recall ever being done. You can tell that he loves what he does and takes pride in taking care of people. I really can't say that I've ever felt so good about a dental office. Lastly, it felt like I stepped into the future. They seemed to have some top notch tech. I know nothing about the type of equipment, but it's the first I've seen. I thought it was pretty cool. If anyone is hesitant about going to the dentist, this place would be a great fit.

The dental hygienist put the saliva ejector too deep into my throat while cleaning and it sucked my uvula very bad. It hurts and turned bloody red. I had troubled to swallow food.

I used to be afraid to go to the dentist but because of the knowledge that they have and they let you know everything they doing and they make you feel very comfortable I'm not afraid anymore

Dental world Kapolei is THE BEST dentist office in hawaii in my opinion. I've been to several others over the years and never have I met an entire office of people who are friendly, good at anything you need done, clean nice office..everything you could want. The location is also excellent because you can knock out so many errands in the shopping center. If I could give more stars I would.
