Drawn to the hometown feel of our community, Dr. Grays professional ambition is to deliver comfortable, convenient, and kind dental care to the Eastern Carolina area and beyond. Combining clinical excellence with compassionate care is just one of many reasons he feels right at home with our team.
Though his favorite hobby is spending time with his growing family, Dr. Gray will tell anyone that baseball was his first love. Growing up turning wrenches on old cars with his dad, he still likes to tinker today, and hell do whatever it takes to keep the family cars on the road.
Originally from Springfield, Virginia, Dr. Steve operated his own private practice for over thirty years in the Northern Virginia area. His father was the first dentist in that area and he proudly carried on the profession. Dr. Steve has also served in Dare County, operating the mobile dental program for the last seven years.
In his spare time, Dr. Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, his three children, and six grandchildren, as well as volunteers his time as a firefighter with the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department.
Dr. Petersen focuses on caring for his patients with integrity, experience and warmth. He loves applying his skills and knowledge to the people hes honored to serve, and he enjoys spending time helping each patient understand the best way forward to optimal dental health.
Dr. Petersen graduated from the University of Utah in 2006 with a degree in Exercise Physiology. He was then accepted at the Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry program in Halifax, Nova Scotia. and graduated in 2010.

Dr. Flake comes to us from Ohio State University. Originally from Tuscan, Arizona, Dr. Flake, graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Physiology, and Developmental Biology from BYU, finally to receive his dental education from The Ohio State University. He trained in many procedures such as crown/bridge work, complex extractions, molar root canals, Invisalign, and complete and partial dentures.
Dr. Flakes patients have stated that one of his strengths is his compassion toward and his ability to communicate well with his patients, and he can do so in Spanish due to living in Argentina for a couple of years during his youth.
Dr. Dick is a retired Naval Captain, and has been practicing with us since 2016. Having over 20 years of experience, she proudly provides our Practice, and thusly, our patients with endodontic services.

This office is wonderful!! Marisel is so kind and helpful. Dr. Cicinato and his assistant are great. I'm always nervous and dread going but they all really made me feel comfortable!!

it was a long journey but i wouldn't choose any other dentist but Dr Flake at Dental Transformations! i was afraid of having the surgeries without being put under, but it turns out i got myself all worked up for nothing. My healing time was super fast and i never had to take anything stronger than ibuprofen when healing. Dr Flake and all the ladies there are absolutely amazing! they are all so friendly, helpful, extremely professional and always on top of things. i couldn't ask for a better group of ppl. and i absolutely love my new smile!! Thank You All at Dental Transformations, (in Elizabeth City) YOU ROCK!!

Horrible receptionist. Had an appointment for myself and my grandson. We arrived 7 mins late and receptionist was on the phone. We patiently waited directly in front of her for her to finish the call. She finished her call at 10 minutes after. She then told me my appointment had been cancelled because of no confirmation and grandson could not be seen because we were 10 minutes late. I did not receive a call to confirm (why was my grandson's appointment not cancelled as it would have been confirmed through the same number?). We will definitely be finding a new dentist. We only continued on with this practice because we were patients under Dr. Morgan.

I've been going to Dr. Flake's office for a few months now. I can honestly say I would not go to any other dental office in the area because this office is so amazing. They are so professional, caring, proactive, and treat you like family. They create such a peaceful environment. You can tell they put their patients first. I told them I'd come in all the time if I could afford it. Rachel at the front desk is always on top of things. She has helped get me in with zero wait time and is always flexible in helping with referrals, etc. If you have an issue, call and talk to Rachel and she will find a solution. I always see Ashlie when I go in and she has such a wealth of knowledge. She always makes sure you feel you are present with her and she listens and makes sure she gives you the best customer service all the way until you reach the door. She won't leave you hanging and makes sure that all concerns have been covered/addressed. Dr. Flake is very understanding and has helped me be pain free in a situation where I felt so frustrated with finding relief. I can say this office is more organized and on top of things than most offices I've seen. I have been impressed with them since day one and they only get better. I can also say with confidence that this is an office you can trust. I highly recommend them.

I had a great experience with Dr. C. I'm due a refund after 7 plus months of trying, nothing, won't return my calls nothing. I finally got someone to call me back after I threatened them with filing a complaint with the board. Still no refund.

I actually went to the Dental Transformations on Halstead and had a deep cleaning. To say I was terrified is an understatement. Jess was my technician, and she did a wonderful job making sure I was comfortable from start to finish. She was efficient, thorough, and walked me through what was happening/ what would be happening without that awkward "trying to hold a conversation with my hands in your mouth". Dr Steve made sure I had plenty of anesthesia, I could have *almost* fallen asleep. Will definitely be coming back for all my dental needs. The only reason I gave 4 stars is I wish they would tell you your deductibles up-front

Unfortunately I didn't make it beyond the receptionist. I called with an acute problem and tried to explain it to her and the response I got was "so what do you want us to do about it?" How about your jobs? This woman clearly has no business in customer service of any sort. After reading some of these other reviews, I notice a common theme with whoever answers their phone calls.

I wanted to make an appointment for filling, however, the customer service representative became argumentative that one cannot just make an appointment for a filling, but must have a check up first. I explained the urgent nature of my issue, but she was adamant that their schedule was full and I could not just have a filling done without scheduling first a check up and then a dentist's appointment. I find it very surprising that she made no effort to secure my business or at least take my number in case there is a cancellation.
