Dr. Denisse Lasanta is board-certified in pediatric dentistry by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, an accomplishment that requires additional training and testing. And she is a professor of Pediatric Dentistry, overseeing a residency program for dentists training for Pediatric Dentistry certification.
She is also a mom of two small children so she understands the gentleness needed to treat kids to give them a good experience at the dentists office. Dr. Denisse speaks both English and Spanish and is one of the few Spanish-speaking pediatric dentists in the area.

I was born in a small town in Puerto Rico and grew up in Sebring, Florida. I attended the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, graduating with honors in 2009 with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD).
Next, I completed a two-year pediatric dental residency with University Pediatric Hospital Puerto Rico Medical Center and the San Juan Municipal Hospital. Both of these institutions are highly regarded for delivering exceptional childrens medical care across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. I was honored to be chosen as Chief Resident, awarded Outstanding Resident and graduated in 2011 with a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.
Im currently a professor in a Pediatric Dentistry Residency program for a community health center in Tampa Bay. There, I train general dentists working toward their Certification in Pediatric Dentistry with the NYU Langone Dental Medicine (Florida site).I also have privileges at Tampa General Hospital and the BayCare Hospitals.
Most people do not realize that becoming a board certified pediatric dentist is voluntary, not required, and involves more training and testing. Dr. Denisse is board certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. This prestigious organization describes the process as follows. A dentist who graduates from a specialty program becomes a pediatric dentist and is eligible to become board certified through the voluntary examination process of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). Involvement in the certification process is a demonstration of the pediatric dentists pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence.
The certification process involves a written Qualifying Examination and an Oral Clinical Examination covering all areas of information on which a pediatric dentist should be knowledgeable. Certification is awarded for a time-limited period, and they must renew annually to maintain their board certified status. Through this accomplishment, a pediatric dentist has earned the title of Diplomate of the American Board Pediatric Dentistry.
