At Dental South, weve been providing state-of-the-art dental care to patients at our location on Marie Avenue in South St. Paul since 1990. We pride our clinic on being the dental office in South St. Paul because we offer the most comprehensive array of treatment options in the community, as well as the widest range of clinic hours. We provide gentle, family-oriented dental care to the adults and children of this community in our 4,000-square-foot clinic.

In addition to general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, we work with specialists in Periodontics (gum diseases), Implant dentistry, and Endodontics (root canal treatments), as well as other specialists. Our team emphasizes comprehensive quality care and preventive dentistry.

Dental South has a modern sterilization system that surpasses OSHA requirements. The source of water for our dental units is distilled water (bottled water), which removes any chance of contamination from regular tap water like that used in most dental offices.

We treasure our relationship with the South St. Paul community, and believe in giving back whenever possible. According to Dr. Michael Prueher, who established Dental South in 1990, The community has supported our clinic for decades, and we truly treasure the relationships we have developed with our communitys residents. South St. Paul may be in the middle of the Twin Cities, but there is a very strong community identity in this town.

Dental South has supported youth hockey programs in South St. Paul, Cub Scout packs in the community, and donates regularly to the local food shelf. Our staff members also periodically provide oral health presentations at South St. Paul elementary school classes.

The building that houses Dental South has been a dentists office since being built in 1957. Two brothers who were both dentists Harry and Stan Schoeder moved their clinic from down the street after putting up the new building. The clinic was then sold in 1980 to Peter Haarla,DDS, who practiced at the location until Dr. Prueher bought the practice in 1990.

We accept all major credit cards, ATM cards, cash, and personal checks. For our patients convenience we have arranged a payment plan through a third party, which helps our patients receive their treatment in a timely manner.

For many people who dont have dental insurance, getting regular dental care can be difficult. And emergency care can be downright scary to their pocketbook. Thats why we have developed the Dental Health Care Discount Plan at Dental South. It is designed to provide patients with affordability and greater access to quality dental care.

This discount plan fits into our mission of bringing the highest quality dental care to as many people as possible. Our entire care team is dedicated to providing you with results that will make you proud within a relaxing atmosphere you can enjoy.

For 25 years, Dr. Michael Prueher has been patiently listening to his patients at Dental South, working to be sure he understands their oral health care needs so he can formulate the best treatment plan for their care.

Dental South - General dentist in South Saint Paul, MN

You have to listen to your patients if you are going to deliver the best care for their unique situation, emphasizes Dr. Prueher. If you do a complete and thorough examination, and then review and discuss the diagnosis and treatment options with a patient honestly and compassionately, then the outcome is always positive. A well-educated patient makes better decisions about their dental care.

Dr. Prueher bought the Dental South practice in 1990. He has been providing quality care to patients since graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1984 with a Degree in Dental Surgery (DDS). He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in biology. He has worked at clinics in both Minneapolis and St. Paul and for a time, in Colorado. He grew up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

What drew Dr. Prueher to a career as a dentist? For me, dentistry is both an art and a skill. That attracted me, and I also felt motivated by helping people with their health care needs. Dentistry just seemed like a perfect fit.

He has taken advanced courses in dental implants, laser technology for dentistry, and in the ClearCorrect invisible braces system. He is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Saint Paul District Dental Society. He was recognized recently as a Top Doctor by the national organization Doctors in the Community.

Making sure that Dental South provides patients with access to the latest technology is important to Dr. Prueher. The clinics use of laser technology for periodontal care is an example. I researched the soft tissue diode laser prior to it being approved by the FDA and found that periodontal treatment was being shown to have a consistent and far greater success rate when this technology was applied in conjunction with standard procedures.

Another example is the use of the Diagnodent, which is a high-tech cavity detector with 98% accuracy. It has allowed us to detect dental decay much earlier than previous techniques, says Dr. Prueher. This translates into smaller fillings because detection is so much sooner. Smaller fillings are good for the tooth structure and pulpal system for our patients.

Dr. Prueher and his wife Melissa have six children three boys and three girls. In his spare time, Dr. Prueher enjoys hunting and fishing, woodworking, and being involved in the Boy Scouts with with his sons.

The best Dental experience I've had, probably ever!! My mouth is quite sensitive since I broke my jaw and knocked out some teeth, and I absolutely hate going to get my teeth worked on!! So I haven't for years, but this place has changed that for me!! Thank you Anita for making this an easy, comfortable, and pain free day!! No headaches today

Worst fillings I've ever gotten. I went to this dentist knowing that I had a couple cavities. This dentist told me that I had 10 cavities. I should have known right then that he was just after the money. I scheduled an appointment to get 4 filled (2 molars each on top and bottom) because I was in pain and thought it would be better than nothing. The dentist drilled out the center of my teeth and barely filled them in so now 2 of my teeth and thin and sharp feeling. I was also left with one of the cavities unaffected and still in pain and the other one hurting worse than ever. He left me with burrs around the teeth and I am unable to floss between 2 of my teeth now. It has now been about 3 weeks since my fillings and I still can't chew anything on my right side. I refuse to go back to him to get them fixed, I do not trust this dentist anymore. I would rather pay more money to someone else than give this man any more business.

Carolyn at the front desk is extremely helpful! She breaks down all of the confusing health insurance paperwork so you can understand everything. Dr. Prueher is awesome! He also explains things well and does not try to tell you that you need any dental work done that isn't necessary. He gives you all of your options and recommends the best choice. I feel so comfortable going here.

A long time friend of mine referred me in to see Dr. Mike Prueher, calling him a dental wizard. My very first appointment at Dental South was an examination that resulted in a follow up root canal. Yep, I had not been to see a dentist in a while. I am writing this review directly after the root canal and I have to agree with my old friend - Dr. Mike and his staff are really very good. I felt no pain during this procedure and was left wondering why root canals have so much bad news surrounding them. Dr. Mike and his team have restored my confidence in going to the dentist and I will be going to Dental South from now on for my dental needs.

Hygenists were very good. The dentist was rude and made my short visit seem like a hassle to him. Dentist looked for 2-3 minutes and stated I had all this work that needed to be done and bill would come to $2,200. Visited another dental office and had 1 cavity and the bill was $150. Something is a bit off there. I'd definitely look elsewhere.

Everyone at Dental South, from Caroline at the front desk, to Dr. Prueher, are great. They've helped me overcome a dread of being at the dentist and also support me in working with insurance to pay for the work that is done.

My wife and I both went in today, and couldn't have been happier. Going to the dentist isn't something I look forward to, but we had a great experience, and great service. I had Lynette for my hygienist, and she was absolutely fantastic. My wife had Pamela, who was "professional yet personal. She was great!" according to my better half. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I was really impressed with my experience. The Groupon reviews are good, but the older Google reviews are rough, so I'm guessing they made improvements in the past few years. Our experience was definitely 5 star, and we will be going back.
