She has completed over 300 continuing education in this growing and expanding field of dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and truly enjoys the benefit of oral appliance therapy, if done correctly, can have on her patients.

She completed a certificate program in Nuclear Medicine Technology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has also served as a contract dentist at Montgomery Care and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Cornell enjoys giving lectures on the subjects of, Cone Beam Technology in a General Practice as well as Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Cornell has also completed training on the Healthy Start program which addresses airway issues in children. Healthy Start is a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical, pain free approach to opening the airway and straightening teeth in the earlier stages of development. She is excited to be a resource in pediatric airway development to help kiddos obtain the quality of sleep needed to nourish their developing brains.

Dr. Cornell is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Tennessee Dental Association (TDA) and the local 8th District Dental Society where she has served as Treasurer, Secretary and President. She has participated in Donated Dental Services, Labor of Love and is a routine volunteer at the Good Samaritan Clinic in Clarksville. Personally, she is a wife and a mother, a yogi and enjoys a good round of golf when she has time!

I had an awesome appointment today with Dental Sleep Solutions of Clarksville! Kayla was so sweet and gentle as was Dr. Cornell!! They were both very knowledgeable about the problems that I have been experiencing. I am very hopeful with the plan that they presented me. I left feeling better about life than I did prior to my visit! I look forward to my next appointment!

Dr. Cornell and Kayla are amazing! I had a phenomenal experience, lots of personal attention, excellent communication, concepts broken down in a way that was easy for me to understand. For the first time in my life I have been able to enjoy a night without my bulky CPAP appliance and it is so liberating! Dr. Cornell made an appliance that I wear at night and it is very low profile and comfortable. Got my AHI down from 33 to something like 2 which is amazing. I highly recommend!

Phenomenal experience from the beginning and to the end of my visit. The receptionist greeted me with a warm smile and told me I'd be seen shortly. I was taken back by Kayla who was my RDA for the visit, she was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and and answered all the questions I had. When I was seen by the doctor she explained everything I needed to know about how my sleep appliance would be able to help aid me in a better night sleep. Overall one of the best experiences I've had in a medical office here in Clarksville!

I love Them!!!! Full disclosure- Back to Basics Dentistry and Dr. Cornell have been my dentists for years. I would not go anywhere else. If you are not sleeping thru the night or you think sleep apnea could be the cause read on- I was not convinced that this mouth appliance would work. I was not even convinced that I had a sleep problem. A good friend of mine was talking about how her mouth piece helped her sleep thru the night. When having my teeth cleaned, they asked if I was interested in doing a sleep study at home. I jumped at the chance. I took the "in home" study with the sleep monitor home that day, to see if I was a candidate. The monitor was easy to hook up before I went to bed and it was not cumbersome to sleep with. It cost nothing to take the test home. I found out I had mild to moderate sleep apnea. I sleep on my back. After I did my sleep study I went back to Dental Sleep Solutions (DDS) for the results and met Kayla. She is so professional, so sweet, very very patient and thorough. Kayla explained that it is understandable that I have sleep apnea since I sleep on my back and that my soft palate would fall back in my throat while I slept and block my airway. I was a good candidate for this type of appliance. The process to follow was painless. They do a lot of scans of your mouth. I mean a lot! Kayla explained everything she was doing. It's very cool once you see the results of all the pictures/scans. Dr. Cornell checked in with me also to make sure the pictures/scans were perfect. Kayla told me she would send all the pictures off to Germany (where the appliance is made) and my appliance would come within a couple months. To my surprise it came early. Kayla made sure it fit properly. At first, I wasn't sure if I would be able to sleep with it in my mouth. But after slowly keeping it in longer every night I was able to sleep really well for eight hours within a week! The funny thing is, I still was not convinced I had a sleep problem!!! Until I slept thru the night , every night for weeks straight. I sleep much better now and feel more rested. I love my appliance. I love Dental Sleep Solutions. And I love Kayla for guiding me to a good nights sleep. So, should you get an appliance for sleep? I would definitely go to Dental Sleep Solutions of Clarksville and see if they can help. A good nights sleep is key to a wonderful day!
