Erica Johannes is the founder of Dental Sleep Doc, a dental practice dedicated to treating obstructive sleep apnea, snoring and TMJ. After experiencing the effects of sleep apnea first-hand with her children and other family members, she began intensely studying obstructive sleep apnea and how it can be treated. Because it is so personal to her, Dr. Johannes is passionate about helping her patients sleep and breathe better. She strives to help people feel great, while living longer and healthier lives.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Johannes attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with an honors degree in Molecular Biology. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2006 from Marquette University. After practicing general dentistry for 11 years in both Wisconsin and South Carolina, she limited her practice to dental sleep medicine in 2017.
Dr. Johannes is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the only non-profit professional association dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine. She has earned Diplomate Status with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), one of only 4 in the entire state of South Carolina. She is also a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the American Dental Association (ADA), the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).
