He is my favorite dentist of all time

My husband and I recently moved to Longmont and needed to establish ourselves with a new dentist. Dr Stephen Perry is wonderful. Really friendly, respectful and focused absolutely on my specific tooth issue. My visit was a very pleasant experience.

Dr Perry has a tremendous amount of experience and continues to practice simply because he's dedicated both to the science and his patients. He takes the time to explain the chemistry or physics of what's going on, tailored to the patient. He is attuned to recent breakthroughs in dentistry, sometimes accomplishing the seemingly impossible. His hygienist, Vonda, is equally experienced, always pleasant, thorough and a maestro with her instruments. Disclaimer, there has been a turnover at the front desk which leaves a lot to be desired but don't let that dissuade you.

This is the absolute worst dentist office I have ever been to. On three separate occasions, THREE... The office personnel called to tell me that they were canceling my appointment to get my cleaning just hours before my scheduled time. You have to wait weeks just to get an appointment there, and I rearranged my schedule on each date to be available, and without any consideration they cancel me just hours before my scheduled appointment time. When I asked why the office personnel said I'm not sure, because we have available scheduling, but the dentist can't see you for a few weeks. So I played this game for a while, but now I realize it's Medicaid discrimination. I realize they don't pay out as much as most insurance companies so it would make sense why they wouldn't want to take me with limited staffing. I will be going to the Medicaid office with this information, and also the medical board of examiners. I didn't ask to be discriminated against. I was a longtime patient, and it's clear you don't want my business based on my insurance. Nobody schedules somebody out weeks in advance on three separate occasions, and then calls hours before to say that they can't see me anymore that day. It's obvious I was being phased out. Additionally when I asked for my records to be sent to my new dentist I filled out a record release form, and when I showed up at my appointment they had never received my x-rays or exams from dental health Longmont. I requested this specifically and filled out the necessary paperwork. I was sent an email promising it would be taken care of immediately, a month later when I showed up to my appointment at my new dentist they had never received any records. Negligence, callous disregard, and discrimination are just a few words I can think of to describe this office. I won't be letting this go.

Dr Hutt would not willingly smooth the surfaces of my two fillings, as is normally done. I had to repeatedly ask him to smooth specific areas, and he would polish them, but ignore the other bumpy areas nearby. Is he going blind? Also, the inside of one of the fillings ached for months after placement. Did he forget to put on the stuff that prevents that pain? He said, "Oh it's amazing, the stuff people don't notice about their teeth." That was chilling. I happen to know what normal dental procedures are, but a lot of people do not know what is included in good quality dental work , and so they can't ask for it. Then I received a bill for an extra $70.00 over and above what my insurance normally pays! The office won't say what it is for. My insurance, however, pays 100%. I have never received an extra bill from a dentist before. These are not standard operating procedures. On the good side, the office is pleasant, clean, and free of mold and perfumes; and the hygienist, Vaunda, is thorough and generally excellent.

Had a crown put on there and now the crown came off and they can't get me in for almost two weeks to adhere it back in place. Reception was rude when I asked for something sooner as I can't eat, then proceeded to confuse me with another patient. This is actually the second time this has happened with this location. They previously lost a record of work done and had no record of a previous appointment and the work done. Bottom line, they don't stand by their work and have poor record keeping.

My first appointment was canceled the day before because there was no hygienist in that day. The next appointment I checked in and after 25 minutes appointment was supposed to start nothing! not word why it was taking so long nothing! After I walked out they called to see if they can reschedule and said no longer then normal wait was a new equipment meeting that was going on at the sometime as my rescheduled appointment(good planning people) and Oh yeah, sorry about that.. No thanks, i'll let my teeth rot before letting you look at them

This office is terrible. My wife and I both had dental procedures done a year ago. Neither were done by Dr Howell (who is no longer with the office) and since then both of us have had to have the work redone because of the poor quality of work. We've also been charged additional fees that were "recently discovered" on our account. Whenever I ask for paperwork, they say they'll email it and never do. Why they can't afford a stamp is beyond me. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this office at all costs.

I went in for my routine cleaning and checkup and saw a curled up piece of paper taped to the door with the office and Drs name on it. I thought to myself, how cheesy is that. I know the office had relocated but it was months ago and they still don't have any permanent signage on the building or the door? Plus there was a different Drs name on the door. When I went in and asked about Dr. Howell she told me he wasn't there anymore. When I asked for more information she was very sketchy and vague. I could tell that she knew more but wouldn't or couldn't say more. I later Googled Dr Howell and found out that he left the practice and was still practicing elsewhere in Longmont. I will call that Strike 1. The hygienist Vonda started telling me all this weird new approach to dentistry that they were doing called Probiotic dentistry. I later Googled what she was talking about and found out, according to Dental Heath, that I have "Poo" in my mouth. Isn't that refreshing. I will call that Strike 2. Next the new dentist, Steven Hutt, came in. I have never had a cavity in my life but he told me I had several cavities. That is not the worst of it. While he was checking my teeth he wasn't wearing a mask! As he spoke, he kept spitting on my face and into my mouth. It was disgusting. I will call that Strike 3 and I was out of there.

GREAT DENTIST & HYGIENIST ! DR. HUTT AND HIS TEAM ARE FANTASTIC WITH A COMMITTED FOCUS TO CUTTING EDGE MOUTH HEALTH AND DENTAL CARE ! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE QUALITY AND CARE THIS LOCAL DENTAL OFFICE PROVIDES ! AFTER MANY YEARS AND LOTS OF DENTAL WORK THROUGHOUT OUR FAMILY , I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT THERE'S A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN DENTAL PROVIDERS...THERE'S BASIC DENTAL CARE AND THERE'S SUPER HIGH QUALITY , KNOWLEDGEABLE, PREVENTATIVE CARE. IT IS MY STRONG OPINION THAT NOT ALL DENTAL CARE IS EQUAL . DENTAL CARE IS SO IMPORTANT AND IMPACTS MANY OTHER ASPECTS OF HEALTH.. IT'S CRITICAL TO HAVE A HEALTHY MOUTH ...YOUR WHOLE HEALTH DEPENDS ON IT. I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT OF THE BOULDER DHCA OFFICE FOR 15 YEARS. NOW THAT THE LONGMONT OFFICE IS OPEN AND I GAVE THEM A TRY AS I LIVE IN LONGMONT AND WOULD LOVE TO SAVE THE TIME OF DRIVING BACK AND FORTH . I DID NOT SWITCH TO THE LONGMONT OFFICE SOONER AS WHEN I WENT TO THE LONGMONT DHCA FOR AN APPT WITH DR. HOWELL, PREVIOUS DENTIST , THE QUALITY OF SERVICE & CARE WAS NOT THE SAME HIGH QUALITY I AM USED TO IN BOULDER. ONCE I HEARD ABOUT THE NEW LONGMONT OFFICE LOCATION AND NEW DENTIST , I DECIDED TO GIVE THE LONGMONT OFFICE ANOTHER TRY . I AM SUPER EXCITED THAT THE NEW DENTIST IN CHARGE ,DR. HUTT, IS IN LINE WITH THE BOULDER OFFICE & DR. PERRY'S APPROACH TO HEALTH , WELLNESS AND TO VERY HEALTHY MOUTH AND TEETH ! THEY ARE FANTASTIC AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE !

I was NOT happy that they did not inform me that my dentist had left the practice. How can these people sleep at night deceiving patients by pretending that nothing has changed. This office has changed its name and website, obviously trying to hide from all these bad reviews but clearly these are self inflicted wounds. I read Dr. Howell's explanation on the original Longmont Dental Health website as to why he left this practice. I totally respect and appreciate his ethics and focus on patient care. The new management and doctor apparently have a different agenda.

I went in my my regular cleaning and was surprised that my dentist was not there. Dr. Howell was always warm and friendly. He would would come out and visit with me before I went in for my cleaning. I asked Vonda where Dr. Howell was and she said that he was unwilling to use their new laser camera (a gimmick in my opinion). I don't know how all this works but I still consider Dr. Howell to be my dentist, not this new guy, Steven Hutt, just because he walked in the door. Hutt told me I needed 3 crowns because the teeth had micro-fractures. I just didn't trust him so I found my dentist online and got a second opinion. He said none of the teeth needed crowns.

I have been going to Dental Health of Longmont for four years, ever since I moved to Longmont, and have always found the care I receive there first rate. Even with the departure of Dr. Howell (and I was sorry to see him leave), I still find the care and service at Longmont Dental Health professional and superior. I am still seeing the same dental hygienist I have been seeing for three years and Dr. Hutt is responsive to my needs.
