Dr. John Tessendorf started Dental Health Center in 1979. He has since expanded his practice to other towns throughout the Chippewa Valley, each clinic offering a close-knit, small-town feel! We provide general dentistry for all ages, including composite fillings, crowns, implants, surgical and non-surgical periodontics, root canal treatment, extractions, oral conscious sedation, orthodontics (traditional and Invisalign), and TMD treatment. Our Eau Claire clinic also offers oral appliance therapy for Sleep Apnea.
I have been practicing for over 40 years and feel that my patients are my family. Our office is dedicated to quality, compassionate and gentle care. Though we have the latest technology, it is really our friendly staff and doctors and shared sense of mission that makes the difference. I attended Marquette Dental School and graduated in 1979. Beyond general dentistry, my education includes orthodontics, laser dentistry, TMJ disorders, sedation dentistry, sleep apnea solutions, and much more. To be the best doctor I can be for my patients, I strive to stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.
There is no better feeling than helping someone. It is so rewarding to see the effects of the care and education we provide; there can be such a difference in a patients health and happiness, and those improvements are directly related to the treatment we have given.
As a native of Eau Claire, I attended Eau Claire Memorial high school and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire where I graduated with a chemistry/biology double major. I then moved to Milwaukee, where I attended dental school at Marquette University.
I feel it is important to keep up with technologies and different techniques so I can customize each patients care. To maintain my knowledge of the best treatments available, it is essential to continue my education in all aspects of general dentistry, orthodontics, sedation, endodontics, and oral surgery. I am also involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the American Association of Endodontists. These provide me with many opportunities to continue my education and active within my profession.

This dentist butchered my husband. Gave him nothing for antibiotics or for pain. He got a really bad infection, he's very sick. Has antibiotics from the doctors now, but this dental center did a horrific job on him! They didn't care at all and hurried through the procedure while not treating him very well or kindly. I would NOT recommend this clinic ever. Filling a report with B.B.B. And when the swelling goes down and he sees a REAL dentist we will find out if there is a malpractice suit.

Dr. John and his entire staff make you feel so at ease and respected. It's so refreshing to see a dentist that doesn't refer you out for anything and everything. Dr. John will literally do any work on your mouth and your child's mouth. How crazy that you don't have to take your kids to see a specialized dentist! I mean your whole family is welcome here and you're not going to regret it. You're gonna want to invite them all to Thanksgiving. Thank you Dr. John...you and all your girls are a dream come true for me and my family.

My doctor referred me to this place. I had to go here a few times for consultation and fittings. The receptionists and dental assistant were friendly, but I didn't care for the older male dentist. He seemed a little judgy. The last time I was there, I waited over 30 minutes for a scheduled appointment. I walked out because that was insane, and they didn't even tell why they were running late when I asked the receptionist. She honestly said she didn't know what was going on or couldn't tell me how much longer. Never got an apology or an explanation from them.

My family and I have been seeing Dr. John and Dr. Tom for several years now and I must say that both are truly an asset to Eau Claire. They are both intelligent, decisive and caring. Everyone on the team is up on the latest treatments and technology. I have never had a problem getting in when I needed them, and have never left without all my questions being answered and my dental problems being fixed with little or no pain. Our entire family loves seeing our dentistry team at DHC! Kind, professional, fun, and they take excellent care of our teeth! We've all been seeing this location for about 6 years now and they've taken care of us through cleanings, an occasional filling, even wisdom tooth extraction with such careful consideration. We love our check-ups!

Very expensive, even with insurance. They wouldn't bill my insurance first, wanted the money up front. Jacked me full of novicane before looking to see I was only in for a cleaning. :( Not my favorite place.
