Dr. Richard Thomas is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in medical technology. He worked simultaneously as a medical technologist and research biologist before earning his D.D.S. degree from Case Western Reserve University. He then completed a one-year hospital-based residency program in advanced dental treatments for medically compromised and elderly patients at the Geisinger Medical Center. He also finished postgraduate training in complete dental reconstruction at Ohio State University and has trained at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Dr. Thomas also serves part time as an Assistant Professor of Dentistry at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he teaches medical students, general dental and pediatric dental residents about temporomandibular disorders. He also teaches general and cosmetic dental techniques there and instructs residents on the clinic floor. His passion for teaching won him an award from UTMCs Dental Division. Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association and the Toledo Dental Society.
Dr. Tracy Poole earned her D.D.S. degree at Ohio State University in an accelerated doctoral program. Following graduation, she completed an optional externship program in surgery at the Medical College of Virginia and another optional externship program in pediatric dentistry at the Childrens Hospital in Columbus. She also earned certification in conscious sedation at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She has completed multiple courses at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, and has a special interest in and passion for neuromuscular and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Poole enjoys working with children and has volunteered with the National Give Kids A Smile campaign and has co-chaired the Toledo event in association with the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio location and the Toledo Dental Society.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and the Toledo Dental Society, where she served as a board member, and currently serves as a Delegate to the Ohio Dental Associations House of Delegates. She also is a member of the Council on Membership Services for the Ohio Dental Association, and is serving on the Ohio Dental Associations Ethics Subcommittee.
An Ohio State fan, Dr. Poole served as the OSU football teams dentist during the 1994-95 season. With a friendly personality and a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, she is known for taking very good care of her patients.
Dr. Robert Weisenburger followed in his fathers footsteps and is a second generation dentist. He earned his B.S. and D.D.S. degrees from Ohio State University and, while still a student, completed advanced training in complete dental reconstruction. He also has particular expertise in implant dentistry after finishing a comprehensive three-year internship at the Midwest Implant Institute and Center for the Advancement of Dentistry in Worthington, Ohio. Dr. Weisenburger is licensed to administer conscious sedation, so patients can literally sleep through extensive treatment.
He attends continuing education classes well beyond what is mandatory, and is an active member and past president of the Russell P. Bunting Periodontal Study Club. He also is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association and the Toledo Dental Society. Dr. Weisenburger enjoys staying fit and relishes his favorite outdoor activity, kayaking, where he has become quite proficient.

I give 0 stars!. It was a horrible and traumatic experience. Went there to have some teeth pulled and the dentist was extremely rough and careless. He was more interested in flirting with his dental assistant and talking about traveling than doing his job. Worst place I have ever been too. I wouldn't recommend this place even if it was free. An absolute nightmare.... Look elsewhere for a dentist and preferably one that has compassion and empathy.

I've been going to D.G.W. my entire tooth owing life and they R by far the best in Toledo! They treat U like family and they try their best to accommodate any requests that U may have.

Dr. Poole is always great and has helped me so much with my TMJ. My only complaint, and unfortunately it has happened several times, is the front desk staff have made scheduling mistakes. I have drove 35 minutes (one way) to find out my appointment was never entered into the computer, my appointment was only scheduled for half of the time that was needed, my appointment was scheduled for a certain time and later changed without my knowledge, and I was scheduled with the wrong doctor, who half way through my appointment, I was made aware that he does not take my insurance. I have had to reschedule the appointment entirely, schedule an additional appointment to finish what needed to be done, and taken off work to be able to attend my appointments that were changed unknowingly.

I've been going to Dental Group West for many years now and I can say that Kim is THE BEST hygienist I've ever had. Dr. Thomas is great, friendly and caring. I can (and do) say that I LOVE going to the dentist. If my insurance would cover it, I'd go every 3 months instead of every 6 months.

I have extreme anxiety when it comes to dental work. The only reason I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Robert Weisenburger was to receive IV sedation for my tooth extraction. I had and appointment scheduled and Dental Group West (DGW) notified me of a cancellation. The office said they would move my appointment to give Dr. Weisenburger more time for my extraction. When I met with Dr. Weisenburger it was clear he had not been informed of my request for sedation. My wife mentioned to the Dr. that I wanted IV sedation or at least a pill that was mentioned on the DGW website. I was given neither IV sedation nor a pill and felt rushed through the process. There were a couple of times during my procedure that the dental assistant and Dr. Weisenburger did not seem to work well together. This did not ease my anxiety. At the end of the procedure Dr. Weisenburger told me "You really do have anxiety issues and should request IV sedation for your dental work". Though I am healing alright, this experience only added to my anxiety.

If I could give 10 stars I would! I had been to my old dentist 3 times in a month because the was in serious pain and they couldn't diagnose the problem. A friend referred me to Dr. Thomas. He diagnosed and started treatment within 10 minutes! The staff is amazing and Dr. Thomas is a wonderfully personable and knowledgeable man. He actually demonstrated what was going on and explained in great detail what treatment would consist of. I'm so happy I became a part of the family and will be sending everyone I can to this practice!
