A native of Pampa, Dr. Moore spent his early teen years learning the meaning of hard work by spending his time working on the surrounding ranches and farms. After graduating from Pampa High in 1988, Dr. Moore moved to Lubbock where he began his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University. It was during his time at Texas Tech that he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Moore graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. He applied for, and was accepted by all three dental schools in Texas, but chose the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. This was an easy decision because it was voted the number one dental school in the nation by USA Today. Dr. Moore was very busy during his four years in San Antonio, working part time while attending dental school. In 1997, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
After graduation, Dr. Moore was eager to return to the panhandle. He started as an associate with Dr. Joel Coker and purchased the practice shortly afterward. This became the base of what is now The Dental Group of Amarillo.
Dr. Moore is a proud member of the following associations: the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Panhandle District Dental Society, and the American Orthodontic Society. He has practiced orthodontics since 1997, and has offered Invisalign to his patients since 2005. Dr. Moore is an Elite teen provider.
Dr. Moore is also a Key Opinion Leader and lecturer for the American Academy of Clear Aligners. Dr. Moore is an Invisalign Platinum Plus and teen provider. He is consistently the top Invisalign provider in the Amarillo area. In 2018, Dr. Moore was selected as a top Dental Influencer by Kleer and a Texas Super Dentists
Dr. Moore is married to his beautiful wife, Tiffany. He has one son, Cody who hopes to be a physician one day. They have a maltipoo named Sammy. Dr. Moore enjoys riding his Harley and competition deep sea fishing. Dr. Moore has been involved with several charitable organizations such as Homers Foundation, Make A Wish and Heal the City.
Growing up in the small East Texas town of Crandall, Dr. Scott Dowlearn spent much of his time involved in FFA leadership and ranching. His love of agriculture led him to College Station, Texas where he became the first Aggie in his family. Dr. Dowlearn graduated cum laude in biomedical science at Texas A&M University and was active in various leadership committees.
Because of a childhood dental experience and an inspiring dentist, Dr. Dowlearn chose to pursue a career in dentistry and served as a dental assistant during college. Upon graduation from Texas A&M, he was accepted by the dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. While in dental school, Dr. Dowlearn served as class president and was named the Texas Dental Association Student of the Year in 2005.
Scott began his career in 2005 and treats patients of all ages, and in some cases, entire families. Dr. Dowlearn wants each patient to feel comfortable and spends time developing a doctor-patient relationship that he hopes will last a lifetime. His focus is on long- term dental care and patient education.
Scott and his wife Melody have two sons, and the oldest is a student at Texas A&M. In his spare time, Dr. Dowlearn enjoys hunting, farming and Aggie football. He and his wife are also active in their church. Dr. Dowlearn is proud to be a part of the Dental Group of Amarillo. He has enjoyed establishing many new patient relationships and looks forward to many years of patient care.
Dr. Jesse James Gonzalez is our newest addition to the Dental Group of Amarillo family. Dr. Gonzalez, a native to the Rio Grande Valley, grew up in the small town of Harlingen, Texas. It was here that he began to develop an interest with the dental profession. An interest that remained with him as he continued his education at Texas A&M University- Kingsville.
After completing his Bachelors degree in Bio-Medical Science at Texas A&M Kingsville, Dr. Gonzalez was accepted into the dental program at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio School of Dentistry where he completed his dental training earning a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in May of 2020. While attending dental school, he was involved with the American Student Dental Association, Hispanic Student Dental Association, and a student member of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Gonzalez also used his free time to tutor first and second grade students in all aspects of clinical dentistry, as well as conduct and present various student research projects.
Through his dental training and experiences, Dr. Gonzalez has developed a dental philosophy focused on helping patients maintain their dentition in order to allow them to enjoy a happy and healthy lifestyle. He strives to develop treatment plans focused on the direct care patients need while also maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment for every patient. Every patient is assured they will only receive the highest grade of care under the guidance of Dr. Gonzalez.
Dr. Gonzalez is looking forward to his new home and becoming an active member of the Amarillo community. As an amateur triathlete, he enjoys practicing all three disciplines of swimming, cycling, and running. When he is not training for his next triathlon, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys hiking, fly fishing, indoor bouldering, and if there is live music nearby, you will most likely see him there!
