She attended the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received her D.M.D. and was honored in the Temple University Gallery of Success. Her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in Chemistry, was attained at Goucher Collegein Towson, Maryland, where she was a Deans Scholar. She completed her Executive M.B.A. at Loyola University in Timonium, Maryland.
Dr. Yu is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), the Academy of General Dentists (AGD), the Maryland Academy of General Dentists. She served as the Public Information Officer on the board of the Maryland Academy of General Dentists (MAGD). Additionally, she is certified in Forensic Dentistry through the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at Walter Reed Medical Center and has served on the Maryland State Committee for Oral Cancer Awareness. Dr. Yu served on The Anne Arundel County Oral Task Force aiming to increase access to care for the adult population.
She is committed to the overall health of her patients and works with her team to educate clients about the importance oforal care and how the pathology in the oral cavity is directly linked to one's general health, including periodontal disease and itsrelationship with heart disease.
A humanitarian at heart, Dr. Yu truly enjoys giving back to the community. She currently chairs the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Health/Wellness Committee. Dr. Yu also chairs the McDonogh Parent Association 's Parent Education Committee. She co-founded Junior Fellowship of Christian Athletes, JFCA. She was involved with theHealthy Anne Arundel Coalition to 'Make Health Happen.' You will often find Dr. Yu volunteering for Missions of Mercy, donatingdental services to the public or volunteering at her church by cooking for Heavens Kitchen.
Dawn has been with Dental FX since its conception. She is the office administrator as well as the financial andinsurance wizard. She uses her certification in accounting to assist patients in understanding the financial aspects of their dental treatment and can help maximize insurance benefits to obtain optimal dental health. Dawn is able to put the most financially tense patient at ease by preparing a financial plan that fits their budget.
You may also see Dawn performing tasks in the clinical area as well. She has been certified in oral radiography since 2002 and is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) of Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign and a member of AADOM(American Association of Dental Office Management) She was most recently awarded AA County Citation by County Executive Steuart Pittman for her contributions to economic growth of the county and the State of Maryland.
Kim has a passion for teaching childrens Bible classes at her church, where she met her husband. In her free time, Kim enjoys going to NASCAR races, RVing, fishing, and metal detecting to discover lost Civil War artifacts.
The other Kim has been working with us since 2019 as our social media and marketing person, representing Dental FX at many marketing and community health-related events. Before joining the team, she worked closely with Dr. Yu for several years on the Health/Wellness Committee of the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, and still serves as the committees secretary. Kim teaches small-space, vertical and indoor veggie gardening and volunteers as a camp host for the National Park Service. Kim is a US Air Force veteran and will soon have her first published book on gardening.
