What came first, the safety or the comfort? Both are equally important to patients. As a patient of Dental Expressions, you can have peace of mind about safety. Our cutting-edge sterilization system includes a heated autoclave with an LED lighting system that clearly separates sterilized from non-sterilized instruments. These days, information safety is also an issue, so weve implemented a fully digital recordkeeping system. Your personal data is safe and secure.

Digital X-rays, which may reduce radiation by up to 80% versus a traditional system are used for patient safety. With intraoral photography, the dentist can take detailed photos of your teeth and gums. The X-rays and photos improve accuracy in diagnostics and let you see what conditions are actually present in your mouth.

Youll feel right at home in our Oklahoma City dental office. Your front office team will welcome you by name and invite you to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee or other beverages. Your children can play in the special area created just for kids. The lobby features wireless Internet access, so feel free to bring your laptop or iPad. Youll have enough room to work on your computer if you are waiting for a family member or friend. In addition, the treatment rooms feature televisions on the dental chairs for your entertainment.

Each patient is different, and it is our job to not only understand their different desires, but to do our best to help them realize those goals. We are not here to judge patients, merely to offer our professional advice and help them obtain optimum oral health. Patients should never have to make final treatment decisions in pain. Once pain is alleviated, a dialogue of how to proceed can begin. Just as we value our own time, so must we value our patients time.

Heres an important tip: that foundation actually begins with you. Yes, you are your childs first dentist and the example you set is one that will stay with them throughout their lives. We encourage parents to demonstrate healthy oral hygiene care by allowing children to help you brush your teeth. And of course, teaching them to care for their own teeth is vitally important.

Young children need to be supervised when the brush and floss their teeth, because as they learn they may not be able to adequately clean all of their teethespecially those in the back of their mouths. Around the age of seven or eight, most children are capable of brushing on their own and they usually are ready for the responsibility. Nevertheless, a reminder every now and then of how long they should brushat least two minutesand to floss every night to remove plaque and food particles from between teeth may be necessary.

By age three to five, your child should schedule six-month checkups and cleanings. Well look for signs of developmental problems and dental disease, and provide prompt, conservative treatment when needed. Your child will be shown how to properly care for their teeth and gums at home, by demonstrating simple brushing and flossing techniques. All questions are welcome even the cute ones from the kids!

The childrens dentist Oklahoma City parents rely on may recommend dental sealants, clear plastic coatings to protect molars from sugars and starches that cause cavities. A fluoride treatment will also ward off tooth decay. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that, in small dosages, attracts other minerals to strengthen teeth. In addition, fluoride help to remineralize spots of enamel where tooth decay is beginning to develop. If your little one plays sports, the dentist can create a custom-fitted mouthguard to protect teeth and gums from injury.

Being a parent doesnt come with a guidebook, so its natural to have questions about how to best care for your little ones smile! For your convenience, weve gathered some of the most common queries we get about childrens dental care below. If you dont see the answer youre looking for, feel free to contact us here at Dental Expressions and well be happy to provide the information you need to keep your familys smiles happy and healthy!

Thumb sucking is a natural reflex for children that can help them feel safer and more comfortable. However, continuing this habit as their permanent teeth begin to come in (usually around the age of six) can cause crooked teeth, bite problems, and jaw development issues. While children typically stop sucking their thumbs by age four, well be happy to provide tips for additional help should you need it.

Even though baby teeth arent a permanent fixture in your little ones smile, you should call us right away if one gets knocked out unexpectedly. If it was close to coming out on its own, we may not have to do anything. If it was knocked out very early however, we may need to place a space saver to keep the surrounding teeth from shifting into the gap and trapping the permanent tooth underneath.

The enamel on baby teeth is much thinner than that of permanent teeth. Combine that with childrens sugary treats and beginning dental habits, and you may notice that your little one gets more cavities than you would expect. Thankfully, at Dental Expressions, we offer specialized services like sealants and fluoride treatments that are designed to safely protect growing smiles from tooth decay.

It may seem trivial at first to treat a cavity in a tooth that will eventually fall out naturally. However, leaving tooth decay untreated will expose the tooths sensitive inner layers to damage and bacteria. Not only is this incredibly uncomfortable for your child, but it can lead to a serious dental infection. Well always aim to help your little one prevent cavities from forming, but were also prepared to repair your son or daughters smile with a safe, metal-free tooth-colored filling.

We've seen Dr. Holman for years. He and his staff are just amazing. My ASD kiddo has big issues with the sensation of things in his mouth so dental care has always been hard. But the staff took the all the time he needed to get him comfy. He trusts his hygienist and Dr. Holman. We cannot recommend them enough!

I was in search of a new dentist so as I was looking for one close to where I live, I looked at their reviews. Dental Expressions had excellent reviews so I selected them. I just had my first appointment and I must say they definitely lived up to their reviews. Customer service was excellent, from the front office staff to Rachel, the dental hygienist to Colin Holman, the dentist. Customer service is extremely important to me and at times it's difficult to get good customer service. Dental Expressions has top notch customer service. As a patient you can tell they definitely care about you! I highly recommend Dental Expressions for all of your dental needs.

I always feel welcomed by Dr. Holman and his staff. They are fantastic! I see Jenny and she is always super friendly and super good at her job. Dr. Holman always takes extra time to chat with me when he performs his check-up. He doesn't have to, but he does because that's what kind of dentist, and person, he is...genuine and kind. Definitely recommend this office!

I have been going to this office for several years. Dr. Holman and his staff are the best. The other thing i love about him is that they don't just conjure up reasons to do treatments. Some other places i have been prior seemed like they would even be wiling to grind on perfectly good teeth. I highly recommend.
