A 2003 graduate of the University of Louisville, our Owensboro, Kentucky, dentist, Dr. Wes Booker, has spent years in advanced postgraduate dental study in such prestigious institutions as The Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, The Hornbrook Group, and The Dawson Academy.

Dr. Booker is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and is soon to achieve a fellowship with this distinguished organization. He is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Kentucky Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (ACE). Dr. Booker also has the distinction of being president of the Green River Dental Society.

Dr. Booker says, I think my practice is unique because of the relationship between our staff and our patients. We strive to treat everyone as family. I personally love the interaction with patients, educating and caring for their needs, and the opportunity to create beautiful and functional dentistry.

In his free time, Dr. Booker enjoys spending time with his wife, Tina, and his three children, Breyton, Benjamin, and Anna. He enjoys playing basketball, cycling and sponsoring the local cycling team, and travels whenever he has the opportunity.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Katie Higdon to our exceptional dental team. Born and raised in Owensboro, Dr. Higdon felt a call to dentistry at a young age after witnessing the wonderful example of family membersincluding Drs. Thompson and Freyin the profession. To her, dentistry is the perfect blend of science and art.

Dr. Higdon received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Kentucky in 2010. She always knew she would return to her hometown of Owensboro, a community that she deeply values. She has been practicing dentistry for 9 years while also fulfilling her dream of having a family of her own. In 2011, she married her husband, Eric, and they welcomed two beautiful children, Philip (2014) and Caroline (2015). Spending time with her family is definitely her favorite pastime. She also loves cooking, reading, exercising with friends, and being outdoors. She is an active member of her church and enjoys participating in church ministries.

Dr. Higdons ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality lifetime dental care in a safe, caring, and comfortable setting. A member of the American Dental Association and Green River Dental Society, she values the importance of staying up to date with current guidelines, continuing education, and new technologies.

She enjoys working with patients of all ages but has a special love for and lots of experience treating children. Its her mission to make those early dental experiences as pleasant as possible in order to foster a lifetime of oral health. She prides herself on being gentle and strives to greet everyone with a warm smile and friendly demeanor. She aspires to reinforce the family atmosphere of the office that Dr. Thompson, Dr. Frey, and the team members have so masterfully achieved. She looks forward to meeting you!

Dr. Whitney Thompson is a native Kentuckian, born and raised in Nicholasville, Kentucky. She received her bachelors degree in Kinesiology from the College of Charleston in 2014 before entering dental school. She is a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where she received her doctorate in 2019. Dental school brought many blessings as she met her husband, a native of Owensboro, during her time at the college of dentistry. During the past two and a half years post graduation, Dr. Thompson and her husband have been living in Augusta, Georgia while her husband completed his orthodontic residency. During that time Dr. Thompson was able to service the dental needs of the Augusta community as a general dentist. In that time, Dr. Thompson and her husband also welcomed a baby girl named Peyton. As of January 2022, Dr. Thompson and her family have moved back to the great state of Kentucky eager to start their careers. Dr. Thompson said, I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Owensboro. I am very lucky to be joining such a magnificent dental team at Dental Designs of Owensboro. Drs. David Thompson and Vicki Frey have left a legacy of dental excellence and I am honored that I get to join Dr. Wes Booker and Dr. Katie Higdon to continue that legacy.
