A native of Knoxville, Dr. Holst loves being a part of the community where she grew up. She enjoys being a part of so many smiling faces that greet her every day! Dr. Holst combines hometown friendliness and personal care with advanced technology and techniques designed to give amazingly gentle dentistry.
A 1989 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, she believes in the value of advanced education, which includes continuing education and active membership in a variety of prestigious organizations, including:
In her free time, Dr. Holst enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Peter Olberding, a dentist in West Des Moines, and with their twin daughters, Allison and Erica. She is passionate about attending her daughters activities, golf and travel. A real delight is when she can combine all three passions, traveling to watch her twins play competitive college golf. An admitted continuing education geek she also enjoys returning to the U of IA for classes and to support the Hawkeyes. She is a member of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and the Lutheran Church of Hope. A Knoxville schools alumnus, Dr. Holst provides a named scholarship to Knoxville Dollars for Scholars annually. Dr. Holst has been on the Indian Hills Advisory Board and enjoys providing internship opportunities for students in their dental assisting program as well as that of Des Moines Area Community College.
Registered Dental HygienistAmie started working at Dental Designs in 2004 as a dental assistant with Dr. Holst and then decided to continue her education at DMACC graduating from the dental hygiene program in 2011. Since Amie has returned to Dental Designs her and her husband, T.J. have added 3 children (Cooper, Marley, Thea) to their family along with their dog Wrigley. In her free time Amie enjoys traveling with her family which includes an annual trip to Chicago to cheer on the Cubs!
Registered Dental HygienistLaura joined the Dental Designs team in 2018. Prior to this she practiced dentistry in Mexico after her 2011 graduation from dental school in Guadalajara, Mexico. She moved back to her childhood home of Iowa to attend the Indian Hills Community College Dental Hygiene program. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her husband Nick and their 2 fur babies.
Level 2 Expanded Function Dental AssistantNicole has been working chairside with Dr. Holst since 2001. She attended the first Level 2 Expanded Function class offered in the state of Iowa at the University of Iowa in 2016 allowing her to place restorative materials for Dr. Holst. Nicole and her husband Geoff have two boys, Caylor and Creyton. They enjoy spending their free time outdoors.
Level 1 Expanded Function Dental AssistantOlivia is an expanded function dental assistant. She graduated from Indian Hills Dental Assisting program in 2016. She joined the Dental Designs team in 2020. Born and raised in Knoxville ,Olivia enjoys being able to work with the people in her hometown. She spends her time helping our patients in the clinical area and has also cross trained to assist the business team. The best part of the job for Olivia is seeing patients leave after treatment with a smile on their face and know they are happy with the work that was completed.
Registered Dental AssistantSydney is a registered dental assistant who recently joined the team at Dental Designs. She graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health in the spring of 2020. Following graduation, Sydney returned back to her hometown of Knoxville to work and apply to dental school. When not in the office, Sydney loves riding four wheelers on her familys acreage, going on hikes, lifting, and running. She is learning about the field of dentistry from one of her biggest inspirations, Dr. Lisa Holst, and hopes to one day become a DDS herself!
Office ManagerLori has been part of the Dental Designs team since 2000. As an office manager, who is also a registered dental assistant, Lori knows exactly what it takes to keep our office running smoothly so our clinical team can focus on our patients unique needs. She loves the variety in her job and the opportunity to interact with patients getting to know their entire family.
Lori is married to Duane, and they live in Knoxville. They also have twin daughters, Mandi and Alissa. In her spare time she enjoys spending time at the lake with her family and friends, reading and traveling.

It's been my best experience at a dentist office with Dr. Holst and her team. I've been a patient of their office for several years now. Amie Blain Is always a pleasure and my teeth are always sparkling clean I couldn't ask for a better dental hygienist Always very professional and always makes me smile

I've been a patient here for over 20 years. No once have I not been happy with the care i got from Dental Designs. The staff are so nice and trained state of art. A very professional group to have give care. My teeth are Happy !

I have been going to Dr. Holst since she opened her practice in Knoxville and have always received excellent care from her and all her staff. She is always improving and updating services. I really like the newest X-ray mouth pieces where the corners don't jab the roof of your mouth!
