Dr. Ortega earned her Doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with honors cum laude (95). Dr. Ortega then began her residency at the University of Maryland Hospital. One month after completing her residency in 1996, Dr. Ortega started working as a full-time private practice associate for a pediatric dentist in Herndon, Virginia. In 2000, Dr. Ortega opened her private practice in Fairfax, Virginia. Since then, Dr. Ortega has become a leading cosmetic dentist in the area. Her goal is to help her patients achieve the most ideal and natural smile with the most conservative treatments possible.
Dr. Ortega has been a leading practitioner of cosmetic dentistry for several years, making her more experienced in the field than most general dentists. Dr. Ortega stays up to date with innovations in cosmetic dentistry to provide cutting-edge treatment for each one of her patients. She has affiliations and memberships with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association, and American Dental Association. After over two decades of post-doctorate education and training, she earned Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 2007 and Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) in 2017. Only 2% of dentists in the United States and Canada have earned this coveted distinction. In addition to her continuous education in cosmetic dentistry, she has received specialized training involving cosmetic gum surgery, oral surgery, medically compromised patients, geriatric patients, and dental traumas.
At Dental Cosmetix, only one patient is seen at a time to ensure that every individual patient receives the best quality of care. This attention to detail allows for close monitoring of each patients teeth and early detection of any problems to help yield the best and most conservative treatments. Due to Dr. Ortegas extensive post-graduate studies and credentials, most treatments can be done in our office without referral to other offices, allowing us to monitor patient treatment outcomes closely.
One month after completing her residency, Dr. Ortega started working as a full-time private practice associate for a pediatric dentist in Herndon, Virginia. Dr. Ortega treated all the adult patients while the practice owner continued treating children almost exclusively. Her practice resources consisted of three operatories and one dental assistant, creating an autonomous situation for Dr. Ortega. This ideal position provided her with excellent clinical experience.All of her patients loved her chairside manners and were very pleased with her treatment. Dr. Ortega has very gentle hands and knows how to make patients feel relaxed in the dental chair. Her dentistry was always exceptional. These factors were strong indicators that she was primed to go solo by opening her own practice.
Dr. Ortega opened her private practice in Fairfax, Virginia. Her office is in the heart of Fairfax City and is conveniently located on Main Street, near George Mason University. Since opening her practice, she has contributed her time to educating students at local Fairfax elementary schools and at the George Mason University Health & Fitness Fair.
Dr. Ortega is becoming the premiere cosmetic dentist in the area. She has performed thousands of smile makeovers and smile enhancements. These smile improvements have helped patients gain more confidence in themselves and in their smiles.
Dr. Ortega works to improve a patients smile whether it is with minimal bonding or a major cosmetic makeover. She was awarded the Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2007 and is on her way to earning her Mastership award. She is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
In addition to her continuous education in cosmetic dentistry, she has also had extra training in medicine in comparison to most general dentists. She has had specialized training with cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic gum surgery, oral surgery, medically compromised patients, geriatric patients and dental traumas.
Unlike most dentists, she has always exceeded her professional education requirements. She consistently takes several times the required courses and attends dental meetings and conferences all over the country. Dr. Ortega maintains memberships in various professional societies in order to stay abreast of the newest developments in the dental field. Specifically, she isa Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD),trained with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, theDental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), Northern Virginia Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association and American Dental Association.

Doctor Ortega did a great job on my wisdom teeth extraction. Surgery went smoothly and post extraction was not as painful as expected. Gave thorough instructions/tips on what to do after to help lessen tooth pain. Definitely recommend her if you're thinking of getting wisdom teeth extraction done!

I have been going to Dr. Ortega's office for almost a year now, and she is absolutely fantastic. She listens to and addresses all of your concerns with patience and kindness. She is incredibly knowledgeable and is honest when detailing your dental needs. I really appreciate all that she has done in easing any anxiety I had. Further, she takes the time to follow up with you after a procedure to make sure are doing well. The entire staff is kind, understanding, and compassionate. Overall, anyone would be lucky to have Dr. Ortega as their dentist because she truly cares about the health of her patients. She's the best of the best!

I have been a client of Dr Ortega for... Gosh, since 1996!! Time flies when you have great experiences . I am really impressed with Dr Ortega's craftsmanship. Dentistry is art...from it's something as small as filling a tooth to something as complex as full mouth dental implant, the result is a piece of art. I am so impressed with Dr Ortega's desire to learn the latest dental advances so that clients like me can continue to benefit from the latest and the best. I have gotten fillings/etc, an implant, crowns, whitening, and Invisalign. I am so happy with all the results. I get so many compliments on my teeth, especially, after Invisalign. Dr Ortega is very patient, and when she makes recommendations, she doesn't put pressure on me to buy things. Her recommendations are made out of necessity or are improvements to the appearance of my teeth. She is understand of my financial situation... meaning, I prefer to use money set aside in my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) than in my pocket. She works with me to identify work that must be done now and then those can wait until next year so that I can take advantage of the FSA tax savings. Dr Ortega is very conservative when it comes to my teeth. She prefers to do what she can to save my tooth while informing me of the possibilities in the future, the next level of work might be needed. For example, when one of my teeth was fractured, she did what she could to save the tooth to avoid an implant. She did a couple of deep cleaning and antibiotics, and when they failed, then we went to the implant option. Dr Ortega is very honest and I trust her completely. She is very informative and explains the procedure and set expectations before performing the work. When I don't understand something, she always is very patient in explaining things in details. I am so pleased with her professionalism and the results of the work she performed on my teeth, and that's why I stay with her all these years. Highly recommend her!!

Dr. Ortega is the best! I had a small accident six months ago and I felt embarrassed and self conscious about my smile. Dr.Ortega was very tentative and she gave me hope that everything was going to be ok. She explained everything to me and was very honest about the steps we would have to take in order to have the best results. It feels good to smile again. I am so grateful I went to her office. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Dr Ortega is the best dentist bar none. I have been a patient of hers for more than 20 years. I had many dentists in the 40 years before her and only 1, who was based in Massachusetts, came close to her level of ability. She is the only dentist who has been able to get my mouth sufficiently numb so I wouldn't be anxious during any procedure. Dr Ortega is not only highly skilled but also honest and caring, willing to take the time to explain what needs to be done and what will take place. I also had her straighten my teeth with Invisalign braces and the results are fantastic! I highly recommend Dr Ortega to anyone looking for a new dentist or if you're not happy with your current dentist.

My family and I have been going to Dr.Ortega for over 15 years now and can't recommend her enough! She takes all the time and care each of us needs. I recently got fillings and didn't need anesthesia. If you are looking for a dentist that cares/won't do unnecessary procedures, book an appointment!!

She is by far the most professional, courteous, caring and helpful human being ever. I have never experienced pain like this before and I was out of town when it happened. She called me right back on a weekend and did her best to make me comfortable by calling in a prescription of antibiotics.. My vacation ended very early and I booked a flight back to Virginia. The office was closed when Dr Ortega scheduled me in for my dental emergency. My husband and I have been a patient at Dental Cosmetix for years and we live in a different county. You will not be disappointed - five stars is not enough for this amazing dentist!!
