Dr. Blake Barnes has been providing exceptional dental care for over 35 years! Dr. Barnes graduated with honors from Cornell College in 1976 and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1980. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Seattle Study Club and is a Past President of the North Iowa District of the Iowa Dental Association.
He is very active in the community and has volunteered for many causes, including Francis Lauer Youth Services, the Donated Dental Services program and the Hawk-i Healthy & Well Kids in Iowa. He is past president of the Noon Lions Club and the Mason City Country Club, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Praise Community Church. He also has served on many boards including the United Way, YMCA, Head Start and the Jaycees. He currently is on the governing board of the Cerro Gordo Community Foundation.
Dr. Barnes and his wife, Nancy, have three grown children. Cory is living and working in Minneapolis. Their daughter, Melissa and her husband, Matt, live in the Cedar Rapids area and have three beautiful children, Alexander, Victoria and Joshua. Eric practices dentistry at the Dental Center of North Iowa and is married and gave Dr. Barnes yet another grandson, Jack. In his leisure time, Blake enjoys running marathons, golf and is an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Dr. Barnes moved back to his hometown after dental school to become active in the North Iowa community and help the residents with their dental needs. He volunteers with the Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity, and is an active member of Praise Community Church. Dr. Barnes loves animals especially his dog, Lou a very large and lovable Bernese Mountain dog! He is also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoys playing golf.
North Iowa native, Dr. Garman earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2014. Prior to dental school, Dr. Garman graduated with highest distinction from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors in Integrative Physiology and minored in Business Administration.
Dr. Garman has been in the dental field for several years and recently made the decision to move back to the area in 2018 to join our DCNI team and raise his family. A member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association and Seattle Study Club, Dr. Garman, in addition, has completed several advanced training courses in clear aligner orthodontics and implant dentistry.
Dr. Garman enjoys spending time with his wife, Kara and their two kids, Amara and Jordyn and let us not forget about their dog, Zoey. When the family events allow for a little free time, you can find him golfing, swimming, spending time outdoors and in typical DCNI fashion of most of our team, cheering on those Hawkeyes!
Meet the newest member to our provider team, Dr. Katie Odland. Dr. Odland was born in Sioux Falls, SD, but grew up in West Des Moines. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2013 and previous to that she graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in Integrative Physiology.
She found herself working in Rochester, Minnesota following dental school while her husband, Andrew, was finishing up his residency at Mayo Clinic. Her husbands role took them to South Lake Tahoe last year while Andrew was doing his fellowship. They have now settled back in Iowa to be close to family, which luckily brought her to the Dental Center of North Iowa team!
She and her husband have two kids, Jack and Lydia and a dog Cooper who was technically their first 'child'. Much like the rest of our providers, Dr. Odland comes to us as a true Hawkeye fan! In her spare time, she also enjoys running, skiing, traveling and anything that finds her outdoors. Please help us in welcoming her to our DCNI team!

4/21/2022: I continue to go to this same dentist and remain appreciative of his care and his staff's attention. Thank you! Professional, friendly, and client-centered all around. The dentist I see (Dr. Barnes, Sr.) addressed my needs and fixed several of them over the past three years. Hygienists and front office staff are efficient, yet always make me feel comfortable. My care matters to them and that's the most important part of this review. 10/20/2022 The staff, hygienist, and DDS were very thorough, professional, and cared for my personal needs. I've been going here for 5+ years and the continuity of care has been exceptional. My husband goes here also and we have both been pleased with the individualized care we receive. Arrived a few minutes early and Devan was ready for me! While I was getting my teeth cleaned, the receptionist invited my kids come to her desk while they waited for their appointment. She printed out some word searches and mazes and let them sit in her chair. Everyone is always so kind and upbeat. I come for the quality care and good dental treatment but these littles things are why I keep coming back. Always a 5 star!

Dr Eric is the BEST!!!!!! HE REALLY CARES!!! He explained everything he did and helped me understand what and why he was doing what needed to be done so my bottom dentures fit better. I have had them for 11 yrs and could not wear them w/o hurting. I am now starting to wear them and hopefully can do so for a long time. Thank you Dr Eric I am getting a different set of bottom dentures, as the old one just did not work well. I have so much faith in Dr Eric and the whole dental team at the Dental Center of North Iowa, I am sure they will work alot better than my old ones.

Needed an emergent filling fixed, Misty was phenomenal at making sure I got in right away after working all night and also made sure to know if I needed anything to contact her right away! Dr. Garman was so great to work with!! He made the whole process painless, and even made me laugh!! As a long time patient, I cannot think of a better facility to be in charge of my dental care!! I've always had a great experience in Belmond, from the receptionist to the dental assistant and especially the dentist. Cole is a vibrant young man who explains everything throughly, but also keeps the fun attitude while doing his work. They all are great group!

Wow everyone there is amazing and so patient and helpful!!! I'm a terrible patient if the drill is involved. I had to go in for a small filling and was beyond nervous. The staff and Dr. Barnes were SO helpful and comforting . Huge thanks to all at the Dental Center !!!!Highly recommend them .
