Raisedin nearby Concord, North Carolina, Dr. David Yu earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He is member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. During his years in Chapel Hill, Dr. Yu served as an advisor in the establishment of the Undergraduate Student National Dental Association, which serves as an interest group for undergraduate students seeking to pursue a career in dentistry.
Dr. Yu is the eldest of three children and has always been a role model to his younger siblings and his surrounding community. His love for dentistry stems from his travel to the nation of Haiti on a church mission trip during the summer of one of his undergraduate years. It is this trip that shaped Dr. Yus desire and passion for the practice of dentistry.
On this life-changing trip, Dr. Yu noticed that there were many medical physicians serving the needs of the Haitian citizens. Yet, no dentists could be found within a short distance. With the majority of the population missing their teeth, oral hygiene appeared to be the last priority for a majority of the Haitian population. Later, Dr. Yu discovered the nations diet, along with poor dental practices were the primary reasons for the populations sub-par hygiene. As a result, Dr. Yu vowed to attend Dental School in order to educate and help those who have a need for a qualified dentist.
In his years of practice after Dental School, Dr. Yu has continued to serve the community by volunteering his time in providing quality dental care to individuals in underserved areas across the state.

I've been coming to Dental Center of Charlotte for years and absolutely love their staff. Leigh Anne and Dr Yu are professional and always pleasant to speak with. Best local dentist and I highly recommend this practice!

First of all, I am not related to Dr. Yu (Yu is a common Chinese family name). I decided to choose Dr. Yu when I first moved to Charlotte about 5 years ago because his office was near my work and I thought his Asian heritage might help him provide better treatment for me. Over the 5 years, I have received excellent care from Dr. Yu and his team including Leigh Ann (the hygenist) and the other lady who assists Dr. Yu with cavity and crown treatments (I never got her name, lol). I have been very impressed with the professional skills and competency shown by Dr. Yu and the team. I've had many cavity fills (I have bad teeth), a night guard, and one crown very recently. I never had any issues afterwards. One thing that makes Dr. Yu stand out from others is that he is very technology savvy. He had this amazing instrument that forms 3-D images of the teeth for doing a crown and he can make the crown in house, which is great. They were also very conscious about patient and staff safety during the pandemic which I appreciate. The front desk staff are also very friendly and helpful. I never leave a good review for medical professionals until I know them well to speak about their service. Five years is a long time to get to know a dentist and I can confidently recommend Dr. Yu to those who's looking for a great dentist.

I suffer from a self-diagnosed problem of "Dental PTSD" (LOL) from some very horrifying dental experiences as a child. I told Susan, "when I walk through a door that has DDS on it I turn into a mental pile of dust." Susan was fantastic during the initial portion of my exam to help put me at ease and relieve tension. Both Dr. Yu and the Hygienist ( I apologize for not remembering her name) were very informative and explained in great detail what they were doing and what I need to do moving forward for the best dental health.
