I love being a dentist. Its a field where I am constantly learning, where I am able to make a significant and positive difference in the lives of amazing people, and where I wake up each morning looking forward to coming into the office. The relationships I have developed with my patients over the years are very emotionally fulfilling. Many of these individuals now feel like members of my family and I look forward to their visits as a chance to learn about happenings in their lives.
I am passionate about providing painless dental services, delivered with compassion and humility. It is essential that each patient feels comfortable enough with me to be open about his or her oral health concerns and goals for a healthier smile, so I make sure I have enough time to get to know each person as a human being and establish open communication. When I am able to connect with a patient, and they are comfortable talking with me, we form a team that works together toward excellent oral health and a beautiful smile.
I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington School of Dentistry and since that time have constantly pursued continuing education courses, exceeding the annually required amount of hours in general and cosmetic dentistry. I choose to avail myself of these opportunities because the field of oral healthcare is continually evolving. It is my goal to stay current with any changes, so I am able to provide my patients with the best technological and treatment options available.
Much of the coursework I take is through the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Snohomish County Dental Society. These professional organizations provide me with current literature, lectures, seminars, and meetings, where I am able to learn from the leaders in our profession.
I grew up in Spokane, WA but have called Mukilteo my home since 2001. My family is very important to me, and I spend as much time as I can with my wife, Tamiko, children Justin, Jason, and Jaclyn, and our dogs, Kinu and Koda. As a family, we enjoy going to basketball and volleyball tournaments and watching movies. Personally, I enjoy swimming and playing golf, and try to find time to read.

Dental care from professionals who take time to communicate, show respect for each patient's bodily autonomy, and have a gentle touch. I struggle with anxiety, and the experience at this dental office is worlds better than other dentists I've visited. The doctor is respectful and discusses options with you before scheduling treatment. The hygienists are very gentle and patient. My husband goes to this dentist too, and we highly recommend them!

I had a great experience with my first appointment with the Dental Care Design. Cindy, the receptionist, was warm, friendly, responsive and effective. She processed my new patient paperwork and contacted my previous dental clinics right away for transferring images I had, which made my first visit much easier. The dental hygienist, Jacklin, was also warm and friendly. She was very thorough but gentle in cleaning; made various suggestions for maintaining and improving my teeth and gum condition but not pushing. I really like Dental Care Design.

Great dentist! Best I've been too. I've been going here for many years. I tried different dentists before finding them. I feel comfortable going to them. They are friendly, kind, honest, put you at ease and do a great job. Wherever I've moved in the area I still keep going here. Highly recommend!

My family has loved the crew at Dental Care Design for almost 15 years. They have cared for our family as we grew from 5 (when we first met them) to 10 over the years. From cleanings to fillings, they have been the best. As we lift off from the great Pacific Northwest, we hope to find a Dentist as good and caring as Dr. J. when we land in South Carolina. Two thumbs up from me and my family.

I've posted here already about how much I like Dr. J and the entire team at Dental Care Design. Last week they really came through for me in a big way. I chipped a back molar on Sunday, and knew I had a business trip I couldn't miss in Oakland on Tuesday. Crystal got me an appointment bright and early Monday morning. Dr. Mark and his team had a composite filling in the damaged tooth in just over an hour, and I was flying pain free on Tuesday. Best possible ending to a story that could have ended up rotten. 5 stars .
