Welcome to Dental Associates! I am Dr. Carolyn Zunich. I grew up in Ashley, ND and graduated from Ashley High School in 1997. I attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND where I graduated in 2001 with a BS in Biology. I received my DDS from the University of Minnesota in 2005.
I joined this practice particularly because of the long history of teamwork, honesty, and dedication to our community. I enjoy the growth of collaboration and value the diverse experiences and differences of all our doctors. Dentistry is a new and changing field. We love our new technology, but still believe that a patients health and well-being are paramount.
My husband, Ryan, teaches elementary school at Rossman Elementary School in Detroit Lakes and is a coach for the high school track and cross country teams. We live in Detroit Lakes with our daughter. We enjoy the many outdoor activities this area offers, and you can often find our family, along with our dog Nelson, near one of the many parks or trails.
Dr Heather KiviHi there! Im Dr. Heather Kivi. I grew up on a dairy farm in Ponsford, MN, where my parents still reside, and I graduated from Park Rapids Area High School in 1999. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2003 and I completed my dental training at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, NE in 2007.
Dentistry has been going through some exciting changes and Im happy to be a part of it. I joined the team at Dental Associates in 2008. I love the people I work with, am thrilled to be a part of a progressive community, and look forward to what is to come. I truly care about the dental health and overall well-being of my patients and welcome their smiles in my day.
My husband, Brian McDonald, works in the Becker County Attorneys Office as an Assistant County Attorney. We live southwest of Detroit Lakes near Cormorant with our three children. They keep us busy! We all enjoy getting outside; running, biking, swimming, boating, skiing, and gardening. We love to spend time with family and friends on the lake and in the beautiful Minnesota outdoors!
Hello, Im Dr. Tyler Derouin. I grew up in Hallock, a small town in northwest Minnesota. After graduating from Kittson Central High School in 2006, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science from Saint Johns University in 2010. I received my DDS from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in May 2014.
I am excited to join the Dental Associates team and to be part of a practice that has such a long history of serving the community of Detroit Lakes. The field of dentistry is always changing and advancing, and I embrace the opportunities to learn and change along with it so that I can offer care and services that improve the wellbeing of my patients.
Im Dr. Lowell Wenberg. In 1957, after two years in the US Army Dental Corps, I joined my fathers dental practice in Mt. Lake, MN. I practiced general dentistry there for 30 years. After selling my practice in 1987, I took a brief time off for travel and leisure before joining Dental Associates in 1990 where I remain to this day. I retired from chairside dental duties in 1999, but continue to provide full and partial denture construction as well as SAME DAY relines and repairs for the doctors of Dental Associates relying on my 55+ years of expertise in this area.

Outstanding service! I broke a tooth on Thursday night at 6 pm and by Friday at noon, I had a temporary replacement! The staff was extremely helpful and kind! If you are looking for a great Dental Practice, I recommend you give them a try. 5 Stars!!!

I was in the office today for a cleaning, X-rays, exam and fluoride treatment. I did not have a long wait, and the staff, hygienist and dentist were very friendly. I would recommend Dental Associates to anyone looking for a dental office.

A little confusion about phoning to enter, since all lines were busy when I tried. I just walked in and was immediately recognized and seated for my cleaning appointment. Very good experience.

UPDATE! 6/22/21- This place is just great! My daughter had an abscess tooth (mom fail) that was found while having her cleaning. They managed to get her in while I was still there to take care of it- taking in consideration of timing and making sure my daughter wasn't in any pain. They made her feel comfortable to the point she said it was no big deal! Dr. Kivi and Hygienist Erika Martin were both great with my kiddos today! I had an appointment for my 4 year old today- whom is a wiggle butt. They were very patient with her- more than I'd ever be!- They kept it fun and interesting for her and were fine with me being a "helicopter mom". Very helpful when I asked for extra help with some insurance stuff as well. Would recommend for sure! Briella had Dr. Kivi today and her assistant- Kathy I think? I had my teeth cleaned as well today-forgot her name but I could tell she was really putting effort into getting my pearly whites back into shape! Thanks for the great service!

Dr. Kivi and her staff are amazing. I have gone to Dental Associates for almost 20 years and have always received exceptional care. Amber, Kristy and Stacy have always made my kids feel comfortable about going to the dentist and they have enjoyed going to the dentist since the first appointment. I would highly recommend any of the providers at Dental Associates if Dr. Kivi is unavailable.
