Dr. Alex received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering with Tau Beta Pi honors from Purdue University. He interned at Bard Electrophysiology in Lowell, MA, and during his time there decided to follow a path for a love for dentistry. He attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where he graduated in the top of his class. He also earned a certificate in the Advanced Periodontal Clerkship program. As a student, Dr. Alex was a prominent member of the American Student Dental Association and represented the school of Dentistry on a number of national conferences.
Dr. Alex maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He volunteers for Give Kids A Smile and over the past year he held a position on the Michigan Dental Association Peer Review Committee for Ethics.
Dr. Benjamin Gietzen is an extremely gifted dentist with a compassionate heart, a true gift for dentistry, and passion for his craft. His perfectionism, experience, and talent are recognized by each and every patient he sees. Patients come from all over the area specifically to Dr. Ben for his caring nature, dedication, and painless dental approach.
Dr. Gietzen graduated from the University of DetroitMercy School of Dentistry, where he was in the top of his class. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association, and loves giving back to the community volunteering his talents and doing mission trips to Honduras for the underprivileged.

I have been going to this practice for 8 years. I don't have a single complaint. Dr. Alex is great, as is Dr. Ben. The staff are all very nice. If you need a new dentist you won't go wrong here.

I cannot say enough about the staff at this practice! Karen was so awesome went above and beyond her job duties to make sure I was comfortable (I have super high anxiety when visiting the dentist), she also explained how to care for my gums that I've been having issues with. Dr. Ben is really cool too, he's very personable and very gentle. I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone looking for dentist!

Made an appointment to receive a crown fell out several times and after a "permanent" bond it fell put a few mo ths later I've since started seeing a new dentist.

I think there are a lot of people like me who simply get anxious having anything beyond cleaning done to our teeth! I gave birth to two children without drugs, but when it comes to dental work the anxiety takes over and even my palms get sweaty. Dumb but true! Well, Dr. Alex Roach is a second generation excellent dentist who is so calming, gentle, and soothing! His dad was our longtime dentist and I am so glad Dr. Alex has seamlessly taken over! Conservative, preservation minded approach and very thorough (and a gentle shot-giver maybe even a smidge better than his Dad!) Andrea has been there for a couple of decades on the team and she literally has gone way beyond the call of duty to be incredibly caring and supportive. The prices are always very fair. Everybody at Dental 1 has been wonderful. Our kids are now in their 30s and we've been going there since they were 7 and 8. I'm happy to have this forum to share because I understand it's a big decision who you're going to trust with your oral care.

Dental 1 has been my dentist office for 20 years. They have very experienced doctors and hygienist that do an excellent job! Their technology is state of the art and the billing process is very simple as well. I would say I have as sensitive nerves as any patient they have and they go out of their way to make it a comfortable visit. Highly recommended office.

Do not go to this dentist. They will charge you a higher amount after services are rendered even when they admit it was their employees fault. Their work does not last. Do not waste your money.

I am a 70 year old guy and have have diff dental offices in my day. However i never had an office as efficient and all the employees are the best. I have had work done by both Dentist's and they are both the best. Not only is their work X great, they both make you feel comfortable. So happy i found dental 1.

Dr Ben & staff were great! I've had terrible experiences in the past & this was the first time I had no pain during a procedure. They were so patient waiting for numbness to take full effect before beginning treatment. Along w Dr Ben, Amanda & Ashley were so great too. Highly recommend this office. Thank you!

I became a patient of Doctor Alex back in November 2019 with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance at 100% coverage for cleanings/XRays every six months. My first cleaning appt in 2020 (with the same Doctor) I was not made aware of billing/policy changes until after the service was provided when they charged me a $46 copay that should've been 100% covered. I asked for a refund because this should have been made clear before the service was provided & they refused. Furthermore, I was told I would be contacted at another time because Andrea, the office manager, was too busy to discuss the issue. I ended up having to call twice before getting in touch w Andrea (who finally returned my call after the second attempt and I missed the call so she used that as a way to lie and say she attempted to call, but my "VM box was full") and she still refused to give me my money back, making excuses and not taking accountability for their lack of due diligence. This office is unprofessional, not trustworthy and very misleading. They're willing to lose a patient and their credibility for $46. Run for the hills! Edit- I have still yet to hear from them months later. So unprofessional

My family has been going to Dental One for over 20 years and we've always been treated with care, and our comfort has been their top priority. The staff is professional and friendly and the office is cleaned meticulously. Both doctors are supportive and reassuring. Most recently, Dr. Ben helped me through a difficult toothache. His kindness, expertise, and confidence was what I needed to get through it. If you have any anxiety or fear of dental work, you should go here, they'll take excellent care of you!
