Dr. Denny is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. He received his orthodontic training at the University of Southern California, while his dental training was completed in San Francisco at the University of the Pacific. During his orthodonticstudiesat USC, healso completedhis Mastor of Science degree in Craniofacial Biology, and presentedhis research and thesison 'Premolar Extraction Influence on Third Molar Angulation.' After starting his undergraduate work at Rice University, he received his B. S. in Biochemistry, with a minor inChemistry, at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was Academic All-Western Athletic Conference and Academic All-Big 12 while playing football at both Rice and Colorado.
Dr. Denny is a third generationSouth Bay native. He grew up in Palos Verdes and graduatedfrom Peninsula High School. He was an All Bay League running back for the CIF champion football team in 1997. He was awarded College Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete while at Peninsula, and accepted a football scholarship to Rice University after graduating high school. He went on to play football at Rice University and the University of Colorado.
Dr. Denny coached both Freshman and Junior Varsity football at Palos Verdes High School (his former intermediate school). He has also coached the PV Pop Warner Mustangs during the 2015 football season. In his spare time Dr. Denny enjoys watching USC/Colorado/Rice football games, traveling, snowboarding, and spending time with his 7 nieces and nephews.
Dr. Dennys family has been in the South Bay since his grandfather was a local beach lifeguard. Grandpa Herb Barthels can be seen in the dark swim shorts from this well known picture of the original Hermosa Beach Surf Club. Dr.Denny comes from a family of dental professionals. His 2 brothers and 1 sister are all general dentists.
