Dr. Betsy May earned a bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science from the Pennsylvania State University. She took her love of science, art, health, and fitness and combined them when she decided to become a dentist.
Dr. May graduated from the Temple University School of Dentistry in 2001. Her advanced training continued at the University of Louisville where she completed a general practice residency. After this, she moved to Delaware to start a family and be close to relatives. She practiced in Bear, Delaware for several years. In 2005, Dr. May created Delaware Modern Dental with the the goal of giving every patient the 'most comfortable and gentle dental experience of their lives.' She takes many continuing education classes to stay current with what is happening in dentistry. Dr May is a member of the American Dental Association, the Delaware State Dental Society, the New Castle County study club and was awarded the prestigious BBB Torch Award for business ethics in 2013. Dr. May is still a health and fitness enthusiast and enjoys sharing that hobby with her two daughters, Stephanie and Danielle.

Excellent dental office, can't recommend it enough. The staff is super polite and professional. During my first visit, the hygienist (Crystal) answered all my concerns with utmost patience, politeness and honesty (didn't try to make stuff when she wasn't sure for instance).

The dentist is nice however the office manager is rude. There are better options out there with great office staff.

Excellent dental office, can't recommend it enough. The staff is super polite and professional. Edit: Since my last visit I had another one for filling. Dr May did it herself but my mouth has been sore ever since. Called multiple times to get them to take a look again, but they refused stating fillings can be tingly for 'a while'. On being asked for how long should one tolerate the discomfort was told as long as it takes. TLDR: Good for cleanings, dont get fillings done here.

The worst service ever. A dentist to leave someone in pain .because she doesn't do extraction. So my mouth swollen and pain .she said you have go to a oral surgeon but I have to find one myself. The dentist doesn't care about me. Let me stay in pain. Sad sad dentist.

No Stars If I Could. Before I went to this place I asked if they can perform the procedure I needed. I took time from work to go in and spend an hour for them to tell me they could not. The charged me for x rays and other procedures then told me I had to make an appointment elsewhere. They then set up an appointment for them and I missed it and they charged me $51.00. They also claim they give a referral fee to the person that referred them. They did not give the money to the person that referred me. Stay clear of this place. Not god at all.

Delaware Modern Dental had been highly recommended to me. I went there for my first visit & i was extremely pleased. When i entered the office I was warmly greeted & i was taken on time. Dr May, explained to me what she was going to do & what she found, which totally put me at ease. Michelle, the Dental Hygenist, was amazing. It was the very best teeth cleaning i have ever had. It was so easy. I needed to have a cavity filled,& Dr. May really listened to me when i explained that it takes a long time for the novacaine to work. My tooth is fixed & it didn't hurt. I will definitely return to this office. I was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff. They were friendly, & best of all, did a great job. It made going to the dentist pleasant.

The best dentist I have ever been to. I left my appointment feeling informed and confident in my care plan. Everyone on the team is gentle, caring and you never feel rushed. The doctor goes above and beyond explaining X-rays, fillings and preventive care. When it comes to scheduling appointments the girls are flexible and work to make something fit for you without making it feel like you are "squeezed in". The best dental experience I have had- and being someone with severe anxiety the entire team was happy to make accommodations for me to be more comfortable. They are the best!
