Dr. Michelle Kelly is a native of Wauwatosa and grew up in the Lake Country area. She attended Marquette University Dental School and graduated with honors. After graduation, Dr. Kelly practiced in Milwaukee and Waukesha for several years, serving patients of all ages.
When the opportunity to buy Delafield Family Dental was presented, she knew it was meant to beDr. Michelle Kellys heart never left the Lake Country area, and she loves being close to home, again. She lives here with her husband Mike and their three young children, Madailein (10), Mackenna (8), and Macallan (6). The family has two black labs, Izzy and Ella, as well as the newest addition to their family, a guinea pig named Peach.
When Dr. Michelle Kelly isnt in the office, you can bet shes golfing with her family, spending time swimming, traveling, helping with Girl Scouts for her girls and boy scouts for her son, and in winter down hill skiing with her husband and kiddos, leading Girl Scout activities for her eldest, or getting to know her community by volunteering at local events, like Green Day (picking up for the environment).

Dr. Kellys certifications include Invisalign, Lumineers and straight-wire orthodontics. She is affiliated with the American Dental Association (ADA), Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA), Waukesha Community Dental Society and American Orthodontics Dental Society.

Paula has been in the Dental field since 1997 and has worked in administrative and clinical as well as an Instructor in the Dental Assisting Program. Paula has continued her education obtaining a Business Degree from the University of Phoenix. She loves spending time with her family boating and attending her sons Moto Cross Races.
Karla has been in dental for over 15 years. She has been practicing dental hygiene for 8 years and enjoys educating her patients on the risks of not having healthy mouths. Outside work she enjoys spending time with her husband and son camping, hiking, exercising, and learning!
Rebecca works part-time with us on Wednesdays in our clinic. She graduated in 2016 from WCTC in Pewaukee. Her dental career started in 2007 as Dr. Kellys assistant. She enjoys educating patients on proper dental hygiene habits and creating great rapport. Becky resides in Wauwatosa with her husband and when she isnt working she enjoys hanging out with her fur babies, reading, maintaining her house plants, and socializing with friends.
Kimberly is a graduate of Waukesha County Technical College for Dental Hygiene. After being a Certified Nurses Assistant for 11 years she decided on a career in hygiene to pursue her passion for helping others and providing individual personable care. The thing she enjoys most about her job is helping people meet their wellness goals by providing education on their dental health. When Kimberly is not at work, she enjoys being at the lake, backyard BBQs, arts & crafts, and spending time with her kitty Sebastian, family and friends.
Hannah enjoys helping our patients feel at home. She became a dental assistant to grow her knowledge in the field and hopes to further her career by becoming a dental hygienist in the future. Outside of work she enjoys playing with her puppy and spending time with her family.

Cavities arent fun, but theyre a normal part of life. Early detection and treatment are your best friends in avoiding costly dental work in the future. At your six month check-up, Dr. Michelle Kelly will look for signs of cavities so that we can isolate tooth decay before it turns into a bigger problem.
Cavities are caused by a buildup of oral bacteria in the mouth. When these bacteria feed on the sugar and starches in food, they excrete a strong acid which slowly damages the hard, outer enamel layer of your teeth.
If you dont brush or floss properly, this acid will continue to eat away at your enamel, eventually causing a hole in the tooth (also known as a cavity), which must be filled. If you dont get a filling in time, the cavity will get worse and the tooth can become infected, requiring a root canal and a dental crown. By minimizing the amount of sugar in your diet, avoiding sugary beverages and foods, brushing twice a day and flossing once per day, you can minimize your risk of cavities.
Bacteria and dental plaque can cause inflammation of your gums that is difficult to detect without the trained eye of a dentist. Dr. Michelle Kelly will assess your gums and if periodontitis (an advanced form of gum disease) is discovered, she may recommend scaling and root planing. This process, known also as a deep cleaning, removes bacteria below the gum line to reduce or eliminate symptoms of gum disease.
Periodontal (gum) disease is caused by poor oral hygiene, though genetic factors can also contribute. If you do not floss and brush properly, bacteria and plaque will build up between your gums and your teeth, forming tartar. The bacteria in tartar will then start to attack your gums, causing inflammation, irritation, swelling, and other unpleasant symptoms.
To avoid periodontal disease, it is important to brush and floss properly. There is no substitute for regular flossing, which is the best way to remove food, plaque and bacteria from between your teeth and gums.
