Located conveniently in a shopping center in front of the Mark Twain apartments, deJong and Plaisance Family Dentistry is your full-service answer for family dentistry. Whether you are in need of restorative dentistry to give you back that glowing smile or root canal therapy to take your toothache away, the gentle hands of Dr. Plaisance and Dr. deJong can answer the call.
Dr. Plaisance chose the dental field as his eventual career because he always had a passion for surgical procedures from his research background, which included studying cancer and endocrinology. However, hed always wanted to work directly with people as well, and becoming a dentist seemed like the ideal intersection of those talents.
Dr. Plaisance achieved both his undergraduate degree and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University. Since then, hes studied with some of the most prestigious organizations in the country, including SPEAR and the Dawson Center, and is a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry. Hes also been chosen as a Top Dentist in New Orleans Magazine for over a decade!
Dr. Plaisance and his wife of 20 years have two daughters and a son together. When he isnt busy at the practice, he loves spending quality time with his family and doing lots of outdoor activities, including bird watching, hunting, and fishing. He also really enjoys cooking when he has the opportunity.
Dr. W. Keith deJong is a hometown boy, born and raised in River Ridge, LA. He attended Northeast Louisiana University and LSU School of Dentistry, obtaining his D.D.S. degree in 1980. He opened his private practice in 1980 and has been in the same location for over 30 years.
Dr. deJong is a member of the New Orleans Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, American Dental Association, and L.D. Panky Alumni Association. He's received the honor of being named one of the New Orleans Area Top Dentists every year since the award was first bestowed. He enjoys the relationships he forms with our patients, and he's developed so many in the past three decades. He's been able to influence a lot of lives by helping people improve their oral health.
Dr. deJong has been married for almost 40 years, and he and his wife have three sons and one grandson. His hobbies include outdoor sports such as golf and tennis, and he's participated in triathlons for the past few years. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Jodi has been a member of our practice for 20 great years now. She attended college at Our Lady of Holy Cross and the University of New Orleans. Additionally, shes undergone X-Ray certification at Louisiana State University and has pursued continuing education at the New Orleans Dental Conference and Las Vegas Conference. Originally from River Ridge, shes happy to serve the community shes lived in her whole life and help patients smile!
Originally from Saint Rose, Rebecca has been with our team for four years now. She attended the University of New Orleans. Her favorite part of her job is getting to meet patients and learn about their backgrounds/life stories.
Holly is originally from River Ridge and has 14 years of experience working in dentistry. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi before moving on to attend Louisiana State University Dental Hygiene School. She is a registered dental hygienist and has undergone additional training in anesthesia. Her favorite part of her job is being able to help patients improve their smiles!
Shannon has been working in the dental world for 22 years now, with 12 of those spent at our practice. Originally from Metairie, she attended the University of New Orleans and Louisiana State University Dental School. Additionally, she has the EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) designation, her anesthesia license, and her certification in X-Rays. She loves getting to know her patients and their families.
Shannon has been married for 12 years and has two daughters. Dental assisting was actually her first job all the way back in high school! Outside of the office, shes a co-op for St. Catherine and also enjoys running, working out, sewing, gardening, and going to new restaurants with family and friends.
Karen has been a part of our team for 28 years now, with a great 31 years spent overall in the dental field. She attended Loyola University and enjoys being able to help and educate patients about oral health care.
Ashley is a welcome addition to our team and brings 12 years of experience in the dental field. Originally from Shreveport, Ashley is a proud alumnus of Louisiana State Universitys School of Dentistry. She loves meeting patients daily and has an easy-going personality. In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her dogs, traveling and watching sports.
Christy has been working in the dental field for an impressive 35 years now, with 32 of them spent as a member of our team. She attended the Louisiana State University Dental Assisting Program and has her certification; she also continues to take many continuing education courses. She loves forming long-lasting relationships with both the patients and her coworkers!
Originally from Hammond, Christy has been married for 24 years and has three grown children and two young grandchildren. When she has free time, she enjoys gardening, kayaking, and traveling to festivals.
Camie has been a part of our practice for a year now, with nine overall years spent in dentistry so far. Originally from Houma, she attended the radiology program at Louisiana State University and continues to take continuing education courses. Her favorite things about her job are the great patients and the family environment with the staff.
Debbie has been with our team for 20 years now, with an astounding 38 years of overall experience in the dental field. She takes continuing education courses whenever shes able to, and she loves the long-lasting relationships she builds with patients.

Once again I had an outstanding experience. Jodi and Rebecca had to squeeze me into the schedule. They accommodated all my requests. All the dental hygienists are polite, friendly and very good at their jobs. They even remembered I like a pillow for my neck. I have been a patient for several years and I have always had great experiences. Make your appointment now!!!

I feel bad I am so late in writing this review because this Dentist Office is hands down, the best experience I have ever had! I myself have worked with the public for 20+ years and have been regularly frustrated with with any appointment I have for anything, as customer service is clearly a dying art. You are made to feel as though they don't care if you come back to them or not. NOT the case here! My phone call as new patient with Jodi and Rebecca was incredibly welcoming and they were exactly the same on the day of my appointment - (so they are not a "one and done" group), Shannon (Dental Hygienist) took her time, laughed, joked, made me feel comfortable, is extremely well trained and competent, If you think it stops with the staff? Nope! Dr. (Kerry) Plaisance Jr., DDS comes into the room and is equally jovial, down to earth and professional. One thing was clear...it starts from the top here. You really do matter to them as a patient. This Office is a tucked away little gem and I will travel to this Office as long as I live in the state of Louisiana! *Side note* This is the first and only review I have ever written in my life, to give some idea as to how blown away I was.

I'm always extremely nervous going to the dentist, words come out wrong, my attitude is not the best and I always look for an excuse not to go. That changed today, the staff made me feel so at easy and where so professional.I could not have asked for a better experience.

All I can say is WOW! I was recommended to this dental office by a friend and I must say it has been one of THE best decisions of my life by simply setting up an appointment allowing them to show me what it means to be a professional dental practice. Located in a nice location of Old Jefferson, there is plenty of parking space. Such a chill location. Inside is very clean and welcoming. Upon entering you are greeted EVERY SINGLE TIME you walk in with the warmest greeting ever. The entire staff is more than friendly and professional. My dentist is Dr. Plaisance who is very personable and knows his craft very well. So trustworthy. I highly appreciate how everyone can make sure the operation is ran well, smoothly and in a very timely manner. is exactly what a family dental practice should be!
