We treat patients of all ages. Forming good oral care habits when children are as young as 3 years old. Our team does an amazing job of making the first experience a positive experience. Dr. Ted Degenhardt (Dr. D) has served the Southeastern Michigan area for over 30 years. A graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Michigan State University and the University of Detroit Dental School, Dr. D. excels in providing quality dental care with a compassionate touch. Dr. D and his team provide complete, practical and state of the art dental services.
Staying current with present day trends and technology is a high priority.Dr. D has completed all 5 continuums at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Continuing Education. He has also completed intensive oral surgery and endodontic mini residencies, along with continuing his education in cosmetic, restorative and childrens dentistry.
Dr. D .has served as past president of the Detroit Dental Clinic Club. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Oakland County Dental Association, Detroit District Dental Society and the Kois Center for Advanced Dentistry.
Dr. Chris Degenhardt graduatedfromMichiganStateUniversity with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He then attended University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and graduated in 2018 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. While in dental school, he volunteered for dental missions both in Haiti and the Philippines providing dental services to under-served communities. In addition, Dr. Degenhardt volunteeredduringhis4 years of dental school at St. VincentdePauls DentalClinic in Detroit, serving as the Student Program Director his last year. Self-taught in the German language, Dr. Degenhardt also worked in a dental office in Cologne, Germany which increased his language proficiency.
Since graduating, Dr. Degenhardt has been providing restorative dentistry to adults and children, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics and oral surgery including removal of wisdom teeth. Dr. Degenhardt is also certified in Invisalign and Clear Correct invisible braces. Dr. Degenhardt is involved in many aspects of advanced dental education including placement and restoration of dental implants.
Dr. Steve Degenhardt is a Michigan native who grew up in metro-Detroit. He attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School before attending Michigan State University. Dr. Steve finished Michigan State with high honors while leading the lacrosse team to sequential conference championships and national playoff appearances. Dr. Degenhardt received his D.D.S. from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City where he received the Research Fellow Award and was recognized as a Deans Scholar, signifying academic achievement in the top 10% of his class.
For his orthodontic residency, Dr. Degenhardt attended University of Illinois at Chicago where he graduated at the top of his class, receiving the Dr. Jerome & Mrs. Joy Fein Scholarship which is awarded to the top orthodontic resident. Steves dissertation evaluated the effect of obstructive sleep apnea on orthognathic surgery patients.
In his free time, Dr. Steve loves spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. During winter Steve will be snowboarding at Nubs Nob or Boyne Mountain. Favorite summertime activities are water skiing and sailing on Lake Charlevoix. In addition, he loves staying physically fit with weightlifting, yoga, swimming, and chasing his Golden Doodle around the yard! Dr. Steve and his wife, Bryanna, have traveled around the world visiting several European countries and even the Land Down Under, Australia.

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Degenhardt and his wife. After nearly 40 years with a wonderful periodontist who is closing his office near my residence, Dr. Degenhardt was recommended to me. My initial visit was extremely thorough (which I did not expect). It's obvious to me that this doctor and this practice take their work and the needs of their patients very seriously. Change can be difficult but I came away very comfortable. I recommend you give them a try!

After transferring from another office, I was thoroughly impressed by the state of the art technology and new patient exam. Since becoming a patient, I have had nothing but the best interactions with the entire staff. I just finished my invisalign with Dr Steve and am very happy with the results!

TLDR: This is the best dental office I have ever been to. I am the type of person that would avoid going to the dentist at all costs - even though I knew that my dental health needed attention. When I reached a point where I was in so much pain that I couldn't sleep, I found Degenhardt Dental and was able to book an emergency appointment even though it was a holiday. One of my fears was that I would be judged/scolded for my lack of attention to my teeth however I have never felt/had any negative experiences/comments from anyone here. Everyone - admins, hygienists, and dentists - are all very welcoming and compassionate towards patients. I also appreciate how they will thoroughly explain what they are doing throughout procedures and be patient with any questions I have. If you strongly dislike going to the dentist, I highly recommend going to Degenhardt Dental. Honestly, the best dentist experience I have had.

Dr. D, Dr Chris, Colleen and their entire staff are awesome! We started with an extremely thorough initial exam and made me aware of any issues that were present. I have seen both hygienists, Jessica and Renna, and they did a great job with my cleanings. The front desk, Cassandra and Debbie, did a great job, too! I would highly recommend Degenhardt Dental to anyone looking for a dentist!

Every single person I have encountered here - the front desk staff, the hygienists, Dr. D and Dr. Chris, the office manager Coleen - is wonderful. Professional, thorough in answering questions, and most of all genuinely caring. I'm terrified of going to the dentist, and had the most pleasant and painless experience with extractions here that I've ever had. A first class experience, with state of the art equipment.

I just had a great experience at Degenhardt Dental! Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by the front desk and taken to my room. My teeth cleaning was very comprehensive and quick. Also, Doctor Chris addressed all of my oral health questions and we developed a plan to fix some problems I was facing. I would definitely recommend checking out Degenhardt Dental for your next dentistry appointment.

Dr. Degenhardt and Degenhardt Dental are just excellent at what they do. I have been a patient of this practice practically since day one, and have never had a bad visit. Before my family found Dr. D, I had an awful experience with a previous dentist. I was young, and never wanted to go to a dentist again. My mom and dad were one of Dr. D's first patients, and were impressed. They brought my siblings and I into the practice, and Dr. D and the whole staff showed me what a caring, professional, skilled dental practice can be. When my children were old enough to begin their dental visits, I had complete faith in Dr. D that my kids were never going to have the experience I did. My kids have only known exceptional care. Time and again Dr D and staff have gone the extra mile for my family and I, and I cannot say just how grateful I am for that kind of compassion and professionalism. Today I went in for a routine cleaning with Jessica, and she did a great job, gentle, thorough, and very kind. She fits this practice perfectly. Thank you Jessica, Debbie in the front office, Dr. D, and everyone else at Degenhardt Dental, you are true gems.

I'm so happy that I wandered into the office at closing time and was treated so nice and all of my questions were answered thoroughly. The lady was amazing! I later found out it was Dr. Teds wife that works full time at the family practice. I got SO MUCH MORE than I expected or knew was possible! Everyone and everything so far has been great! High quality care equals high quality results! I have a lot of work to be done and I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished set of teeth! I can honestly say that I never had this (high) level of care. I also have never been treated so well from the first moment I walked into the waiting room! I highly recommend the practice to anyone that wants the best of everything. My 90 year old Mother feels the same! They handled her with extra care and patience! Fantastic!

Dr. Chris and the team at Degenhardt Dental are top notch. I've never been to a dentist as thorough as Dr. Chris - he does a great job answering questions and carefully explaining what he will be doing before a procedure. And most importantly, he has very gentle hands. I look forward to seeing Dr. Chris and his team for years to come.
