In addition to providing our patients with quality oral health care, our office values being actively involved in our community. We enjoy donating dental supplies to nonprofit organizations participating in charitable dental work, and welcome the opportunity to work with you on this front. The combination of our quality dental care and involvement in our community help us make a difference in peoples lives, one smile at a time.
Dr. JR Gonzalez graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas as well as Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Gonzalez completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas, Texas. It was during his time here that Dr. Gonzalez received more comprehensive training in the esthetic and restorative aspects of dentistry. After completion of his residency, Dr. Gonzalez was asked to join the General Dentistry faculty at Baylor College of Dentistry where he taught part time as an Assistant Clinical Professor until 2011. Dr. Gonzalez established his private practice, Defining Smiles, in 2001 and today continues to serve the Las Colinas and surrounding areas.

Best Dentist in town. JR and his staff are amazing. I am moving out of state and I will make sure that I have a trip to Dallas every 6 mo to make sure that I keep JR as my dentist. You will not find a better more dedicated, smarter, dentist that isn't going to try and suggest unnecessary treatments. I have been seeing JR for over 10 years, the dentist I saw before JR said I needed gum grafting, JR said I was fine, we have been watching the trouble area for 10 years, it hasn't gotten any worse, and I never had to have a painful gum graft. To me that is the testament of his dedication to his patients.

JR Gonzales & his staff are by far the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. And when I say we worked together, I tell you what. I had quite the cavity prone mouth when I arrived riding in on my motorcycle & barely pregnant. I had a super sensitive mouth, needing twice the pain killer. JR Gonzales did this little jiggle with my mouth as he applied the pain killer. I barely felt the needle work. Everyone of them so patient & personable. When I moved to Utah I use to save my dental appointments til I could come back to town & see Gonzales. I no longer travel there & I have never found another dentist who is as good or kind. Love love love this dental family. It's weird to say, I miss my dentist. -Jessie D

Best dentist practice in the DFW! Dr. Gonzalez and his team make you feel right at home the minute you walk through the door. Your appointment time is your time and they never make you wait. They are super organized and very thorough! The staff are genuine and kind and always have smiles on their faces. I moved to Austin, yet I still try to schedule my appointments for when I'm back in town. I would highly recommend Defining Smiles - they do not disappoint!

I have been using JR Gonzales, DDS and his staff for ten years, possibly more. I drive there from far East Dallas. This is the best dentist and staff I've ever had. Everyone greets you with a smile. Cheryl, hygienist, taught me how to floss better, since I had bleeding gums. I have not had bleeding gums since. Also, there is no pain!
