Dr. Steven Niergarth is a 1985 graduate of the University of Michigan. He has been awarded fellowships in both the Academy of Dentistry International and also the International College of Dentists. He was named a co-recipient of the Michigan Dental Association Public Service Award in 2017 for his work in helping military veterans in the area. Dr. Niergarth is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Resort District Dental Society. He is an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Dr. Niergarth and his wife, Lisa, have done numerous mission dentistry trips to Guatemala, where his son Jake was born. They started a permanent dental clinic in Chichicastenango, Guatemala in 2013 and travel there frequently. He also began the Doctors With A Heart program in Traverse City in 1999, which provides dental treatment at no charge for those who are unable to pay for adequate care.
Dr. Jason Merrithew is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, class of 2004. He has received numerous awards, including a 2017 Public Service Award from the Michigan Dental Association. He is a fellow-elect with the Academy of Dentistry International, and has been awarded Top Docs by his peers in northern Michigan numerous times. He has been a member of the Michigan Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Resort District Dental Society since 2004.
Dr. Merrithew has a philosophy of giving back to others in the community and abroad. He has been on several dental mission trips to Guatemala and has been a part of Deerhavens annual Doctors with a Heart free dental day in Traverse City each year since 2005. He is proud to mentor dental students at the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry through the Victors for Veterans program and also enjoys helping our highly deserving military veterans through Deerhaven Family Dentistrys free Veterans Day dental clinic.
Dr. Merrithew enjoys spending time with his wife, Carrie, their two children and their dogs. As a family, the Merrithews enjoy running, boating, ice hockey, and being active outdoors and in the community.
Dr. Lance Beers is a graduate of The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He has been an active member of the Michigan National Guard for nine years. Its this patriotic commitment that prompted Dr. Beers to start Deerhavens Veterans Day Dental Clinic for area veterans.
Dr. Beers enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, especially at their family cottage near Gaylord. He is also an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys fishing, boating, cooking, and exercising.
