Dr. Kuempel's team is trained and certified to provide you with high quality dental care. We attend seminars, lectures, and conventions to stay abreast of advancements in treatment procedures and techniques.

As a board certified periodontist Dr. Kuempel has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

As a native of Vinton, IA she graduated from the Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and practiced for 12 years as a Dental Hygienist.During that time, shedeveloped a strong interest in periodontal surgery, which led her to furtherher education. Dr. Kuempel graduated from the University of IowaDental School in 1995, and completedher Periodontal Residency at the University of Iowa in 1998. She has won undergraduate researchawardsand graduate periodontics awards. Dr. Kuempelopened her Dental practice in December 1998 andreceived herBoard Certification in May 1999.

Dr. Kuempel was appointed to the Iowa Dental board from 2001-2010, served as a Chair of the Dental Boardfrom 2007-2010. As a member of the Iowa Dental Board she became active with CRDTS regional testing service. Dr. Kuempel serviced as the President of CRDTSfrom 2011-2012. She is still actively involved as a member of the exam review committee and calibration committee.

Herresearch on Implant Instrumentation was published in the internationally renowned Journal of Periodontology. In addition, Dr. Kuempelis a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest academic achievement to be obtained in the specialty of periodontics.

Dr. Kuempelis also an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, IowaSociety of Periodontists, Midwest Society of Periodontology,American Dental Association, and has been recognized both locally and nationally for her leadership activities in the dental community.

Graduated from Hawkeye Community College's dental hygiene program and has worked in our office since 2010. She has had 35 years of hygiene experience, with 9 years including previous periodontal experience. Barb and Dr. Kuempel were classmates in the dental hygiene program at Hawkeye Community College.

Barb is certified to administer nitrous oxide and is licensed to administer anesthetic. Her emphasis in the office includes periodontal maintenance, along with excellent communication and hands on instruction in oral hygiene.
