Our dental office welcomes patients who struggle with dental anxiety, disabilities, and other concerns that often make it difficult to receive dental care in a traditional office setting. The home-like office experience that we offer is inclusive of all patients, including anyone with a physical handicap that requires a stairlift for access.
Our team is warm, welcoming, and ready to help you relax in a place that feels like home. Our office is located in a former residential home and patients can easily enter using the stairlift or a short set of steps to our front door.
For extremely anxious patients, those who would prefer not to, or anyone who can benefit from avoiding the front desk, we have an operatory room with a separate outside entrance and adjacent dedicated parking. Patients can enter here and immediately settle into the dentist chair for a cleaning, exam, or recommended treatment.
Through the years, Dr. Dechter and Dr. Moy have worked with patients of all ages with a range of physical and mental challenges, including autism. We take the time to get to know them and address their unique concerns so that they can feel respected as individuals and receive the dental care they need or desire.
Drs. Dechter and Moy place an emphasis on the importance of developing a relationship with each and every patient that is based upon communication and patient education. CEREC, laser dentistry, digital record keeping, digital x-rays, and scanning all contribute to dental care that is more pleasant for you as a patient. It also significantly improves our ability to provide more accurate diagnoses and treatment that is less invasive, targeting your specific needs. We will use digital imagery for analyzing and planning a wide range of concerns and treatments, including the appearance of a smile being made over with a cosmetic dental procedure.
Believe it or not..the most rewarding cases are those involving my senior citizens. Theyve been through it all the old fashioned way and are truly the most appreciative of what the new technologies have to offer. Dr. Dechter received a BS degree in Zoology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1978. He received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland Dental school in 1982. He has been practicing at this location for 36 plus years. He has been consistently rated among the top dentists in the area in both Checkbook and Washingtonian magazine.
Someone asked him why he became a dentist. The answer was simple, he likes fixing things and playing with gadgets! As a child, he was constantly taking things apart and putting them back together. Fast forward to now, and Dr. Dechter remains passionate about the new technologies, materials, and techniques developing in modern dentistry.
To remain up to date Dr. Dechter is able to combine his love of travel with his constant quest to further his education at different training facilities throughout the US. His love of the people in his practice is evident when his hygienists have to interrupthim from socializing in their treatment rooms.
Hobbies besides dentistry include trying to stay in shape for downhill skiing, long-distance running, culinary exploration, keeping up with Sherees speed walking, and of course, walking their dog Sydney.
Dr. Matthew Moy earned his B.S. degree at the University of Maryland at College Park, graduating magna cum laude in 1999. He then completed his D.D.S. degree in 2003 at the University of Maryland Dental School. Shortly after, Dr. Moy joined Dr. Dechters practice as a partner. He is a very conscientious and devoted person, and we have received numerous compliments from patients on his gentle and caring approach.
Currently, Dr. Moy is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), Southern Maryland Dental Society (SMDS), International Implant Dental Association (IIDA), and Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). He takes over 100 hours of continuing education courses a year. He is also enrolled in the Dawson Academy in which he is learning how to care for patients at the highest ethical and professional level.
Wendy is a Maryland native. She graduated from Woodward High School and continued her education at the University of Maryland where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Wendy has been a hygienist for 35 years and is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association.
Florence started working for us part-time many years ago. She recently joined our team full-time in 2016. She is from Haiti and speaks French, Spanish, and Creole. Florence obtained her degree from Alleghany College of Maryland.
Lucys hometown is in Peru and she is fluent in Spanish. Lucy enjoys playing soccer with her oldest son Sergio, as well as her daughter Miranda. She also stays busy with her two younger sons Matias and Ulises.
Gabby came to the U.S at the age of 9 and grew up in Rockville MD. She had a brief military experience when she joined the Marines, serving from 2000-2004. Once she finished serving her country she came back to MD to be closer to her mom. Currently, Gabby is a single mother of 3 whom she tries to spend most of her time with when she is not at work.
