The dental bays at Dean Cosmetic Dentistry are designed to put you at ease. Each bay features a top of the line dental chair for maximum comfort, as well as a TV with remote control, to create a relaxing experience for our patients. We even have blankets available.

Knoxville Dentist, Dr. Donnie Dean was born and raised in a small town in Texas to parents who were school teachers and coaches. He was brought up by parents who believed in helping others. It was their influence that led him into a career that involves working with people and helping them to change for the better.

Dr. Donnie Dean became interested in dentistry at a young age while he was in Junior high school. Later in high school, he had the opportunity to observe a dentist perform oral surgery, and he set his mind on a career in Dentistry. Dr. Dean earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He then went on to study Dentistry at the University of Texas Health & Science Center in San Antonio.

After graduating, Dr. Donnie Dean began working in his home state of Texas. His first year involved working predominantly with dentures, partials and complicated extractions. Dr. Dean was then offered an opportunity to work in a successful and fast-paced, multi-lingual practice in Miami. He remained there for four years. While there, he focused primarily on full-mouth restoration.

In 1990, Dr. Dean met his future wife Margaret on a cruise ship, and they are now celebrating nearly 30 years of marriage! Nine months after meeting, Dr. Dean moved to Knoxville and opened his current practice at 121 Capital Dr, Knoxville, TN 37922. Twenty nine years later, he is still caring for many of his first patients.

Knoxville Dentist Dr. Donnie Dean is passionate about keeping up with latest developments in dental practices and technology. His continuing education has included two years worth of credits in business courses specializing in management. In addition, he has received credit in continuing education courses offered by the following: the Pankey Institute, Pete Dawson Courses, the Scotsdale and Charlotte Sirona Center, the Spear Institute, the SYnergy Continuums with Biomet 3i, the International Team for Implantology ITI, the Convergent Solea Laser continuums, and Arun Gargs Implant Continuum, Masters course and Implant placement course. Dr. Dean also participates regularly in several study clubs that deal with a comprehensive team approach to patient care.

In 2001, Dr. Dean invested in the breakthroughCEREC System, which enables him to create and fit dental crowns and veneers for the patient many times within one single visit.With 19 years of experience using, watching and being on the front lines of the developing technology, he enjoys applying the use of advanced technology, like theCerecSystemand theGalileos 3D Advanced Imaging Systemto cases ofimplant, ortho, and rehabilitative dentistry. These are intra-oral scanners that are extremely accurate and virtually eliminate the need for those uncomfortable impressions. Recently, Dr. Dean started using a Solea laser that can restore some teeth with no anesthesia. He uses this for numerous procedures to minimize the sound of the drill, use minimal or no anesthesia, and help improve other procedures while rehabilitating the mouth. Dr. Donnie Dean engages a team approach in providing top level services to his patients, whom he considers family. Having acquired hundreds of study hours with this technology, Dr. Donnie Dean is nowa mentor at the Scotsdale and Charlotte Sirona Centers and has trained many dentist in the use of intra-oral scanners for all aspects of dentistry.

Kim graduated in 1992 from East Tennessee State University with a degree in dental hygiene and health education. Since 2010 Kim has been a fun-loving employee to Dean Cosmetic Dentistry. She enjoys her job as a health care provider in which she educates her patients on how to achieve a long-lasting healthy smile. She is committed to keeping up with the newest technology and then conveying that expertise to her patients.

Kim loves to develop a strong and lasting relationship with her patients. You hear her often say that her patients are her family. Kim has a teenage daughter, Atlee, that is the light of her eye. She also likes to spend time with family, friends and travel. She feels life is about making those special memories.

Melissa attended West Georgia Technical College and graduated in 2009. After a couple years of working as a hygienist she decided that wasnt quite enough and went back to college part time to finish with a bachelors degree in Public Health of Dental Hygiene. Melissa joined Dean Cosmetic Dentistry in 2014 as a Hygienist part time then moved to full time by assisting Dr Dean along with her role as hygienist, but she quickly went full time as a hygienist. However, Melissa likes the variety of roles to challenge her so while still a hygienist, she also is working a little all over the office. Melissa loves connecting with people one on one and enjoys educating people on the importance of happy teeth whether you were born with them, have invested in them, or want to invest in them. Melissa enjoys her free time reading, watching movies, crafting, and finding good deals. She has started to travel more and would love to hear your travel stories.

Karen has been a patient for over 25 years. We loved Karens friendly, outgoing personality so much that we asked her to join our team! Karen has a natural compassion for people and truly loves the day-to-day interaction with our patients. Her warmth and humor make long time and first-time patients feel comfortable and at home. Even though Karen is new to the field of dentistry, she has taken on the Front Office Coordinator position with outstanding work ethic and drive and learns fast and efficiently. Karen was born and raised in Georgia but has been in Knoxville for over 35 years. She has 3 children and 3 grandchildren whom she loves to spoil. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is active in her church, loves to read, listen to music, laugh and have fun in life.

Michael attended East Tennessee State University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. He has since extended his licensure to include certifications for administering Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), Local Anesthesia and cutting edge Laser Therapy. Michael has worked as a Dental Hygienist for four years, and recently moved with his family from Virginia, to the lovely mountains of Tennessee. Michael has been a fantastic fit to our family here at Deans Cosmetic Dentistry. He expresses a calm, caring personality, and a quick wit! Michael enjoys educating patients and meeting their needs to achieve their ideal smile. He is a story teller and patients appreciate how he discusses dentistry in a way that isnt confusing. Michael is quick to share a laugh and loves to hear the highlights of his patients day. Michael spends most of his free time with his baby son Garrett. He enjoys cooking, guitar, woodworking, photography, reading and investing.

James is originally from Madisonville, TN. He has worked in banking and IT support for several years. Once he moved to Knoxville, he worked for an insurance company and then started his career in dentistry as front desk coordinator. James now is proficient as our insurance coordinator where his charm and caring heart makes our patient feel comfortable and at ease throughout their treatment phases and financial understanding. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his Boxer Loki.

Dolores Walker A.k.a. Dee came to us with incredible dental experience. Dee is a native of Washburn Tennessee and has a medical and dental background. She is a fun and bright smiling addition to our dental Center. She loves spending time with her family and is a great asset to our dental center. She is a graduate of the medical assisting school at Virginia College. She also attended the core school of massage with a degree in massage therapy.
