Dr. Bastacky was born and raised in a small town near Pittsburgh, PA. referred to as Little Washington, or Washington, PA. After graduating from Trinity High School in his hometown, he attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA., completing his undergraduate education in 1981. Dr. Bastacky then returned to the Pittsburgh area to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, receiving his D.M.D (Doctor of Dental Medicine) in 1985. He then went on to complete a one year general practice dental residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. The next three years were spent at Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, DC where he completed his oral and maxillofacial training.
Having completed his academic requirements, Dr. Bastacky made it his mission to keep abreast of the newest research and technology in his field. One of the first things he did was to establish the Greater Catonsville Dental Study Club. As the president, he coordinates speakers to present timely information, enabling him and his colleagues to continue their education locally and meet with each other on a regular basis. Following on the heels of success from his first study club, he later established the GBMC OMFS Study Club. He attends professional conferences in other parts of the U.S. and abroad and has made contacts with dentists from all over the world. Some of his more memorable conferences were in Barcelona, Spain and Banff, Canada.
Since 2004, Dr. Bastacky has been on the faculty in the Division of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as a part-time clinical instructor. He remembers the hard work and perseverance it took to be successful in his career and now wants to help others who are pursuing similar careers. He supervises and teaches the dental and oral surgery residents atJohns Hopkins Hospital. Sharing knowledge and clinical experiences with the residents is very fulfilling for him and has rounded out his professional life.
Dr. Bastacky is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He recently served as president of the Maryland Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Bastacky has presented lectures on various topics associated with oral and maxillofacial surgery to dental study clubs, dental students and dental residents.

The appointment for my operation was at 8AM. By 10:30, I was back at home snoozing on pain pills. I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went. The staff was friendly and Dr Bastacky answered all of my questions in a thorough, conversational way.

Front desk staff is horrible. My 4 yo son had a serious accident and we were told to follow up with the doc to make sure everything is healing ok. After 2 hours of waiting, nothing but nasty behavior and no answer as to how much longer the wait would be. Zero sympathy for a child in pain. Nurse was really sweet but the receptionist became agitated when I spoke to the nurse about the wait. We asked for a refund and left. Run away!!!

I went here to have an oral surgery consult done. My appointment was at 3:45PM, I arrived at 3:30PM in case there was any paperwork to complete. There was little to no sitting room in the lobby that would be considered social distancing, they also had a patient come out of the back that was not wearing a mask, which tells me they don't require masks. One of the office staff behind the counter stated that she has worked in this field for 30 years, and this is the worst area that she has ever worked in. This is an insult to the people that live in that area. There was another lady beside me that had been waiting for 1.5 hrs, she made a comment to the front office staff and they asked if she'd like to reschedule. A short time later, one of the staff called her from the back and told her that they were going to take her back, but it would still be a while before the doctor would get to her. She came back out about five minutes later to inquire about billing. Apparently, they hadn't discussed the costs with her prior to her appointment. By this time, I had already been there for an hour. It didn't seem like I would be seen anytime soon and the office staff never updated or apologized for the time delay. There were also comments made that the staff all leave at 4:30, which is what time it was at this point. My time is valuable to me, I do not like for it to be wasted. I also do not approve of the front office staff insulting the neighborhood or the lack of communication about the delays. Due to my experience, I canceled my appointment and left. They asked if I wanted to reschedule, but I told them absolutely not. If you can't respect me or my time, then you aren't being rewarded with my business. Just a FYI, the surgery had a cost of $20k-$40k. I'll find some other doctor who actually deserves it!

I was extremely scared to get my wisdom tooth removed but Dr. Bastacky made me a promise right before we started that he would take good care of me! He did. The entire process went so smoothly, they were patient and were sure to explain all that was going on. Even the emergency line was helpful. Dr Bastacky gave me a call back to make sure I was okay! Highly recommend.

This office popped up when I googled emergency service . When I called Tyiece ( receptionist) was hasty . She was unwilling to assist . I asked did the office perform emergency services she replied " it depends" . She did not ask me about any symptoms , treatment , nothing . She was so uninterested to assist . Her tone was so dry , with no concern . I understand they may not be able to accommodate me but the receptionist is your front line . They should be pleasant .

Ok so dental procedures are never the best. The staff made me feel way less anxious prior to my procedure, which I'm thankful for. They walked me through everything beforehand and made me feel as ready as possible, answering all my silly anxiety ridden questions. The office was clean and comfortable and the dentist was an absolute pleasure! Not just a nice guy, but he somehow removed my tooth without me even knowing he was removing it until it was almost out. Before I knew it, I was ready to go home. Great dentist and staff. I would go back and even send my loved ones to him, that says a lot. Thank you dr Bastacky for fixing my mouth!!!

Front desk service was great, but i sat in the office since 1:30 for them to bring me back into a room at 3:20 to tell me there will be another 30 minute wait... had other things to do very inconsiderate of patients time... all of this just for an consultation. Not to mention they had 2 other patients come in after me and were seen before me. Highly disappointed in my dentist for referring me here.

I was scared to death but Dr. Bastacky explained what was going on with my teeth and what needed to be done but most of all what to expect in detail, very thorough.

I was referred to Dr. Bastacky for dental implants which required oral surgery by my general dentist. Dr. Bastacky did an excellent job and the staff was great and friendly. The two ladies working at the reception desk was great and very friendly too.They greeted me each visit with smile and with a friendly conversation I never experience any rudiness that others have stated in their reviews. My wait time was very minimal under 10 minutes and I had no problems scheduling my appointments especially with the pandemic limiting office visit. I would be happy to refer Dr. Bastacky to others.
