The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.
Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.
Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

I recently relocated to Houston from Dallas and am an avid Texas Ranger fan. I have two wonderful grown children, Aaron and Hannah. I was in the airline industry for 15 years, traveling extensively and really enjoyed meeting new people and visiting other countries.

Dr. Amir Davoody received his dental degree fromUniversity of Maryland School of Dentistryand his Orthodontic certificate and Master of Dental Sciences fromUniversity of Connecticut. Dr. Davoody is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists and is an active member of the Angle Society of Orthodontists. He was awarded the Thomas Graber Award of Special Merit from American Association of Orthodontists in 2011 for his research on temporary anchorage devices (TADs).
He has taken an active role in his profession by serving as a part time faculty member at the University of Connecticut Department of Craniofacial Sciences as well as staying current with latest advances in orthodontics by attending meetings nationally and internationally.

I'm very happy with my results after getting Damon braces! All of the staff are friendly, Dr. Davoody is very knowledgeable and professional. Tram is very patient, informative, and compassionate. Thank you for making my experience as comfortable as possible

I've been to two other orthodontics and decided to come to Davoody because Dr. Davoody listens to my needs and the staff are very patient in answering your questions. Finding a doctor and staff that listen to you is very important since you're gonna work with them for 2 years( in my case)!

Dr Habliski sold his business to Dr Davoody, and Davoody is no where near the caliber I expect. Davoody convinced me to take new scans for aligners (instead of ordering the ones I already had on file) and I haven't been happy since. He does not take time with his patients, is short, and not thorough enough in his examinations. On the contrary, the office staff are still very nice... but the doctor is what matters! I will not return to this business.

The dental hygienist named Tram is great. She has been very attentive to my kids braces appointments and always ensure they are feeling comfortable with the changes that they need and provides advice before the end of appointments. Appreciate her great work ethic and making my kids feel enjoyable to come for their appointments because of her.

My 9yo son has been a patient of Dr Davoody's for the past year and we have been so impressed by his expertise and treatment plan as well as the efficiency, warmth and kindness of the staff. They have taken COVID protocols seriously right from the start, which had also been so reassuring. I would recommend Dr Davoody highly and am glad my son is in his continued care.

I don't know where to start, so many good/positive things to say. Lets begin with the warm reception when I first entered Davoody & Hablinski Orthodontics, recommended by my dentist Dr. John Krell when I expressed concerns about gaps/spaces in my teeth, being that I had never seen an orthodontist didn't know what to expect, questions to ask etc., the entire staff was welcoming, friendly, very professional, and informative in that every service being perform was explained in detail, the equipment in this office is ultra modern, several images were taken, quality was excellent, color perfect. My appointment was at 3:10 didn't leave until 5:00 (I believe the office was closing for the day) lol, that's how thorough they were, nothing was rushed, after meeting with Dr. Davoody he suggested clear braces explained the process, length of time it would take the achieve results, he then left me in the capable hands of Ms Judy treatment coordinator who took several before and after picturess which revealed the most BEAUTIFUL straight teeth what a HUGE difference. I then met with Ms Wanda financial coordinator who discussed my payment options. Left the office completely satisfied. l should also mention that this visit was a consultation, absolutely no cost/s involved Thanks to everyone at Davoody & Hablinski Orthodontics
