Orthodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the supervision, guidance and correction of the dentofacial structures. Orthodontic treatment uses braces, retainers and other appliances to correct any dentofacial abnormalities. Regular dental check-ups and orthodontic treatment are proven to be effective tools in helping establish and maintain good oral health for people of all ages.
An orthodontist is a specially trained dentist who has attended an advanced education program for a continual training period of 2 to 3 years. All members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) have received the appropriate training.
Its never too late to have a beautiful smile! Adults should visit an orthodontist to improve the appearance of their smile and their overall dental health at any time. Some orthodontic corrections need to be made as early as 3 to 5 years of age, but ordinarily children should visit an orthodontist at the time permanent teeth begin to erupt in order to detect any deficiencies in the childs teeth formation. This is usually between 7 and 10 years of age. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children visit an orthodontist no later than age 7.
Braces may be worn by both children and adults, not only to improve the attractiveness of their smile, but also because braces correct improper alignment of teeth that can lead to gum disease and early tooth loss. Left untreated, crooked teeth with irregular spacing make cleaning harder and allow cavities to more easily develop. Properly aligned teeth also make it easier to chew all types of food, and eliminate the headaches and pain caused by uneven chewing. Uneven teeth may result in weak enamel, gum problems and jaw misalignment.
Braces are lighter, more comfortable and more technologically advanced today than ever before. They come in clear and a variety of color and material choices. Ask the office staff about what options are available. Other appliances include colorful bands, elastics and retainers.
Braces exert a gentle pressure on teeth over time to straighten them. The two main components include the braces placed on the teeth and the arch wire that connects them. The brace is a specially-shaped metal or ceramic affixed to each tooth and the arch wire is bent to reflect the bite that the patient should have after treatment. The wire threads through the braces. As the wire tries to return to its original shape, it applies pressure to move the teeth.
There have been some fantastic advances in modern orthodontics to make treatment more comfortable and quicker for patients. There are now smaller, smoother braces and gentler wires which provide a continuous small force over a long period of time rather than a strong force for only a short period. Typically there is some discomfort after the braces are first put on. Over the counter pain relievers and a soft foods diet will help alleviate this temporary discomfort.

My 1st visit was very unpleasant to say the least & I should have did more homework before consultation, b/c had I known she had several locations I would have found another Ortho. Staff is unlike any Ortho or dentist I ever been too. I was trying to refrain from giving a bad review since I was a patient however facts are facts! Dr. Davis just seems to be a walking zombie unaware or just dont care what's going on in her practices. I call Everyday for a week trying to get info or a call back in regards to my ortho acct! NEVER returns calls, they dont follow up at all. Yes, the braces are Affordable but "You get what you pay for" I rarher pay more & have A1 patient services! Clearly a New Office Mgr is needed ASAP!!!

Horribly unprofessional and unaware of HIPAA laws or else intentionally breaks them. Staff are rude and the orthodontist is beyond unprofessional. I would suggest avoiding this place and finding a more professional orthodontist.

My nieces started going to Dr Davis because they were affordable. My brother gets hurt can't pay, so I pay the bill off in full now they say the girls are out of contract, and need to pay each visit. That isn't right. I paid for a services,and they don't want to do provide for the service unless we pay more money!!

My son has been seeing Dr. Davis for about a year and a half now. Wait and appointment time is about an hour total. The staff is very helpful and answers any questions we may have. We have been very satisfied with the services he has received.

Amazing experience! I have a prom coming up and on my lower bottom i am missing teeth. Mrs.Davis gave me a beautiful smile so i could have an amazing smile at prom!

I was very uncomfortable today with my experience at Davis Family Orthodontist. There was a young light skinned lady with long black hair I think her name was Daleesha who was taking my photos and putting in my spacers after my consult. She continually walked out of the room instead of working with me being loud and joking around in the halls. I felt very welcomed by everyone including the doctor but this young lady made a very bad impression on me from the start. Her manner was very unprofessional and she was rude. She was very rough when trying to put in my spacers and didn't give me a clear understanding of exactly what they were going in my mouth for. I hope to never get her again or I hope I am not making a mistake with choosing to get my braces here. But Daleesha needs to be dealt with because how she made me feel was unsettling.
