Davidson Family Dentistry moved into its new facility at 8573 Urbandale Ave., Urbandale, Iowa in 2005 after years in the Beaverdale section of Des Moines where it operated under the name of Beaverdale Family Dentistry. The current location is within easy reach of most areas of Des Moines and the surrounding suburbs and is conveniently located between Hickman and Douglas off 86th St.

Our signage clearly identifies our office and it is hard to miss our metal dinosaur sculpture with the big teeth that graces the front of our building. The prairie style building with its sculptures and stained glass windows are just a preview of the museum like attractions on the interior of the clinic. You have never seen an office like ours before!

After earning his B.A. from Morningside College and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa, Dr. Davidson has practiced family dentistry in the Des Moines area for more than 40 years. In November of 2019, Dr. Davidson retired from active practice. He continues ownership of Davidson Family Dentistry with his son Dr. Michael Davidson.

Dr. Davidsons memberships include the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association (past president), the Des Moines District Dental Society (past president), and the Academy of Family Dentistry. He serves as a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Davidson has been active in the Iowa Dental Associations Mission of Mercy (past board president) and has traveled to numerous countries on dental healthcare ministry trips. He enjoys traveling (more than 75 countries), collecting historical artifacts, singing, art, photography and jigsaw puzzles.

He and his wife, Diane, an attorney who is now Clinic Administrator at Davidson Family Dentistry, have been married for over 45 years. They have three children, Dr. Philip Davidson, a high school teacher in Racine, Wisconsin, Dr. Michael Davidson, a dentist at Davidson Family Dentistry and Elizabeth Miller, Head of Nursing Operations at Health eCareers in Fort Myers, Florida.

Dr. Davidson was a previous member of the Iowa Dental Board. The Iowa Dental Board is the governing body for making rules related to dentistry and overseeing disciplinary action of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. On the board Dr. Davidson also did examination of dental students to assess competency before entering the profession.

Dr. Davidson took additional training in sedation dentistry from Oregon State University. He was chair of the Anesthesia Credentialing Committee that advises the dental board on sedation issues. Moderate sedation compliments the standard offering of nitrous oxide to his patients.

Implant dentistry has been a focus for Dr. Davidson. He has taken a number of continuing education classes as well as the longest continuing education class offered in implant dentistry. He does all stages of implants from single tooth replacement to full mouth restorations with implants.

Memberships include the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Association of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, and the Des Moines District Dental Society (past president) and previous board member on the Iowa Dental Board. Dr. Davidson is active in volunteer dentistry at the Iowa Mission of Mercy.

Dr. Michael Davidson and his wife, Dr. Beth Davidson, a Pediatrician with Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines are parents to Liam (2012), and daughter, Natalie (2014). Dr. Davidson enjoys traveling, rock climbing, skiing, reading, playing board games and is active at Lutheran Church of Hope.

At age 4, Dr. Davidson announced that he wanted to be a dentist like his father and he has not been disappointed with that decision made at an early age. Dr. Davidson especially likes the family aspect of the practice; seeing the whole family from the elderly to young children and the variety of dental needs at every age.

Dr. Justine Stemper received her bachelors degree from Iowa State University and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa. Dr. Stempers interest in public health led her to travel to Mexico and India to work on public health projects. She received distinction in dental public health as well as awards for practice management and treatment planning. Dr. Stemper received the New Dentist of the Year award in 2017 given by the Iowa Dental Association for an outstanding dentist who has been in practice for less than 10 years.

Dr. Stemper and her husband Matt have two young children to keep them busy. In addition to family time, Dr. Stemper enjoys traveling, cycling, reading, watching ISU games and is a self-proclaimed water sports enthusiast, spending warmer months slaloming, swimming, and kayaking. Dr. Stemper has also completed an Ironman triathlon.

Dr. Baier, and her husband, Andrew, have two young children; a son, Hudson, and a daughter, Quinn. In addition to spending time with family, Dr. Baier enjoys running and completed her first marathon in the Fall of 2018.

Dr. Cameron Clause received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

After practicing dentistry in Sioux Falls South Dakota, Dr. Clause made the move to the Des Moines area to join Davidson Family Dentistry. He enjoys all areas of dentistry and has a special interest in endodontics and oral surgery. Dr. Clause is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Outside of practicing dentistry, Dr. Clause engages in physical activities and was an avid athlete in college where he completed in the heptathlon and decathlon. Dr. Clause plays in a community hockey league and loves it. He also enjoys spending time with his family, going to the family cabin in northern Minnesota, playing golf, and visiting new places.

Dr. Christina Mulcahy attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for her undergraduate studies. Following in her father and uncles footsteps she attended University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After graduating dental school she moved to Dallas, Texas with her husband where she practiced for five years before moving back to Des Moines to be closer to family.

Dr. Mulcahy and her husband Matt welcomed their first child, Carter, in 2017 and second, Henry, in 2019. With two busy boys, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, cooking, home projects, and working out. Dr. Mulcahy and her husband love traveling and look forward to planning their next adventure.

Dr. Mulcahy treats all patients as family, giving them the best options and explaining all treatment needs. She enjoys all facets of dentistry and helping her patients create and maintain their beautiful smiles.
