Dr. Wilhite brings over 30 years of experience in general, family and cosmetic dentistry. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS and an MS and attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.
For his postgraduate training, he received his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2000, and in 2004 was presented the Mastership Award, a prestigious honor earned by no more than one percent of dentists in the nation. It signifies Dr. Wilhite has taken more than 1,100 additional hours of continuing education in a variety of disciplines in dentistry.
Dr. Wilhite has been nominated three times for Dentist of the Year for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. He has been nominated yearly since 2006 for Texas Super Dentist in Texas Monthly magazine. In addition, he has also been nominated Dentist of the Year in D Magazine.
The state of Texas requires dentists to take only twelve hours of continuing education each year, but Dr. Wilhite chooses to heighten his knowledge by taking at least 100 hours annually. He has studied at the prestigious Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, learning major restorative techniques, and how to treat TMJ and bite-related problems.
In October 2005, Dr. Wilhite was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists (ACD). This fellowship reflects his involvement, achievements, and leadership in the dental profession and community. In 2006, he was inducted as a Fellow in the International College of Dentists (ICD). In 2007, he was inducted as a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr Wilhite was awarded the Lifetime Learning & Service Recognition (LLSR) in March 2016. This recognition is based upon achieving several markers including taking 500 additional hours of continuing education as well as extensive charitable contributions in dentistry. Less than 1% of dentists have reached this level of recognition.
He was elected for two 4 year terms with The Texas Dental Associations Peer Review Council where he served 7 of those years as Chairman. As a member of this council, Dr. Wilhite reviewed appeals from local dental societies peer review committees and based upon his opinion, and that of the other members of the council the cases were resolved.
