Dr. David J Martinez is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist specializing in the treatment of infants, children, adolescents and children with special needs. In agreement with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Dr. Martinez recommends that a patient's first visit to the dentist is at age 1, or within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth. Just as you take your child to the pediatrician during the first year, these early visits are your child's dental well baby visits.
Dr. Martinez offers primary (comprehensive) care. Primary care consists of regular exams, cleanings and fluoride treatment. Our office also provides restorative treatment which includes fillings (white or silver), crowns, extractions and space maintenance. We also offer athletic mouth guards.
Dr. David Martinez was born and raised here in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to starting dental school, he worked as a pharmacist with Walgreens Pharmacy after receiving his bachelor degree from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy in 1998. In 2003, Dr. Martinez graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While in dental school, he served two terms as Vice-President of the University of Colorado Health Science Center Student Senate. He was also awarded the Predoctoral outstanding student in pediatric dentistry.
In 2005, Dr. Martinez completed a pediatric dental residency at The Children's Hospital in Denver, CO. During this 2 year residency, he gained valuable experience and knowledge in pediatric restorative dentistry, behavior management, oral/conscious sedation, pediatric dental trauma, orthodontics and special needs dentistry within a unique hospital environment. Dr. Martinez's research at The Children's Hospital was published in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Martinez was also selected and served as chief resident his final year of residency.
Dr. Martinez is a board certified pediatric dentist. Along with his diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, he is also a member in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association and several state and regional dental societies. Dr. Martinez holds hospital privileges at Presbyterian and Lovelace hospitals.

Dr. Martinez is knowledgeable and skilled and his office is clean. They do not take Anthem insurance, but I had a scheduled appointment and they saw my son for a short exam and answered my questions. I would recommend them for all kids.

I was very impressed with entire staff here! The doctor was able to squeeze my child in and give a very through evaluation and second opinion. I would highly recommend Dr. Martinez. He behaved with a clam and patient demeanor and is ready to explain everything to you and your kid.

My son had to have a procedure done. The consultation went great loved how he and the nurses interacted with my 3yr old explained everything to us . The nurses were also great and very caring before and after. I highly recommend this Dr. Thank you Dr. Martinez God Bless

Dr. David Martinez is a unicorn. I have no idea how he does what he does, but I am so grateful that we found our way to this incredible pediatric dentist. One of our 3 x kids has some pretty weak teeth and Dr. Martinez really went above and beyond the call of duty to take great care of her as well as managing the expectations, fears and worries we had as parents. I never write reviews but I feel like folks should know that in my experience it is so rare to come across someone who genuinely puts the care and interest of his patients (and their parents) above everything else. My 5 year old daughters appointment here was a wonderful experience! The hygienist, Tammy was so kind and patient and made the cleaning light-hearted and fun for my daughter. Dr. Martinez was also kind, smiling and attentive. He was happy to show me her x-rays and patient in explaining what we were looking at. I highly recommend this dentist office for kiddos!

I LOVE this office! Recently I took my three kids (all under the age of 8) for cleanings. We had zero wait time. They had a hygienist for each kid at the same time. Each of the hygienists were so sweet and patient with the kids. They didn't rush the kids and they made sure they felt comfortable with everything they did. They were even able to polish my 2-year olds teeth! Dr. Martinez is SO calm and patient with the kids. He made it fun for them and eased any nerves. I didn't feel rushed at all. And we were done in 30 minutes. Unbelievable! I HIGHLY recommend this office for pediatric dental needs! A+++!

I was very disappointed in the lack of patience the Doctor and nurse had with my four year old daughter especially for being a pediatric office. They did not talk to her about what they were going to do as in "I'm going to look at your teeth now" or anything to make her feel comfortable. I understand these are trying times for us all but that doesn't mean your frustrations should be taken out on a four year old! We showed respect and patience for the new procedures the whole time we were there and expected to be showed the same respect. We had a good experience with this office two years ago but this time it was such a negative experience for both my daughter and myself I will never bring her back.

Tried to get appt with them but receptionist lady kept assuming my daughter was on medicaid even though I said I have BCBS, she kept going back to that for someone reason? If I flipping had medicaid, I woulda freaking SAID medicaid. I'll just find someone else, really irritating getting third degree about my insurance, especially when she is WELL COVERED!

Best kids dentist in town! The office is bright and welcoming, the staff is always friendly and Dr. Martinez has an incredibly warm bedside manner. We happily make the drive out there because it's such a great place!

Dr. Martinez has been so wonderful with my son and will start caring for my younger sons teeth as well in November. He has been extra patient amd very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend him for your child's dental care.
