Smile Gallery Dental is a Orange based family dentist practice that treats patients of all ages. Dr. Datu graduated in 1992 from the University Of Southern California School Of Dentistry. He continues as part time dental faculty for USC , where he has been recognized for excellence in teaching. In addition he is a part-time staff member of the USC Mobile Clinic.
His Practice puts an emphasis on complete and thorough evaluations, which are simple and well communicated by him and his staff. This is done in a friendly and comfortable environment, with a professional attitude from the initial evaluation to the numerous follow up communications.
Instead of relying on metal brackets and wires to move teeth, ClearCorrect braces use a series of clear aligners to move teeth into place. The aligners are made of a clear and comfortable plastic that looks similar to a full retainer. By taking care of them and refraining from scratching their surface, aligners will remain clear and virtually invisible when worn. At Smile Gallery Dental, we can show you how to keep your aligners in perfect condition during the treatment process.
The aligners are created using an impression of your teeth and gums. Once received, the lab will create a series of aligners that start with the current position of your teeth and slowly move them until they are perfectly straight. A patient will wear each aligner for about four to six weeks. Afterward, the patient will replace the old aligner with the next one in the series. The aligners place pressure on specific teeth to gradually move the teeth for a more comfortable experience. By wearing all of the aligners in the series, your teeth will move from crooked to perfectly straight.
The aligners are given to you at the beginning of the procedure so that you do not have to visit our Orange dentist office every time that you need to switch them out. This allows you to spend less time in the dental chair than you would when wearing traditional metal braces.
Traditional metal braces are extremely effective for straightening teeth and treating misaligned jaws. While metal braces are more comfortable than they were in the past, they are still noticeable and unfavorable to many. With the wires, brackets, and rubber bands, traditional metal braces can negatively impact the way that a person looks and feels. Many people find that traditional braces are distracting and do not fit into a busy or professional lifestyle.
Simultaneously, metal braces are difficult to keep clean as food can become stuck between the brackets, requiring a special floss to remove the bits of food. At Smile Gallery Dental, we can help patients receive the necessary treatment without having to drastically change their diet or skip out on some of their favorite treats when wearing braces. While only temporary, this can be inconvenient and at times, frustrating. Given the tendency for food to become stuck, those wearing braces, also need to spend more time brushing and flossing throughout the day.
ClearCorrect is a far more convenient option than other methods for straightening one's teeth. Patients remove the aligners themselves when eating, so there are no restrictions on which foods you can eat. Patients also do not have to worry about something becoming stuck in the brackets or the embarrassment of feeling awkward while eating. Patients wear ClearCorrect for at least 22 hours per day, leaving plenty of time to enjoy a romantic dinner, business meeting, or lunch without metal braces ruining one's confidence. This makes it possible for patients to maintain their current lifestyle without any further restrictions.

Nobody really LOVES going to the dentist, but Dr. Datu's office is filled with a very friendly staff that helps mitigate the fear one might have with being poked and prodded with dentist instruments. His staff is thorough and well trained. Dr. Datu always steers me straight and gives me sound advice. He truly is concerned with my overall oral hygiene. Now, it is up to me to do my part in between visits. Thank you guys.

I have tried many dentists through the years and Mr. David M. Datu, D.D.S. is by far the best. I have done a lot of research on what I should be able to expect from a dentist, and David Datu is the only dentist to accomplish this. He also speaks with confident assurance and his staff seem just as confident, kind and respectful. We will see what happens when all is said and done, but I think I have finely found a dentist I have confidence in after 20 years of searching!

My daughter and I have been a patient of Dr. Datu before Smile Gallery Dental opened, we have been patients for 25 yrs. (sorry for the giveaway Dr. Datu) Dr. Datu was our dentist in Downey, and when I discovered that he was opening up his own dental practice in Orange, We had to follow him. I use to drive 40 minutes EACH WAY to see my best dentist. I have has so many bad dentist prior to him. It's worth the drive, gas, mileage, and time because Dr. Datu takes excellent care of you. I have had every one of my teeth worked on filled and crowned by Dr. Datu. My daughter luckily had mostly sealants and good care from him. His care over the years kept her lovely smile. One thing I have always loved about Dr. Datu and his staff is their family care as a person to you. They treat you as family. They always ask how you and your family are, and care to listen when you tell them your situations good or bad :) Dr. Datu as allways been the best to me because he has never forced me to do a certain procedure or else. Raising my daughter on my own and low on money this was wonderful. He would always tell l me honestly we can do this or do that. He would be honest and say well I don't know how long this will last if you try it, but we can try if that's what you want! Again, considering me the patient and my income. You do not find that every day. Still to this day Dr. Datu cares for the you as a personal person and patient, not just another patient. He still helps me decided what's best treatment to do for me personally. The office staff are all the best. I have laughed and cried with them over my personal situations, they are there for you like a relative not a person working in a office at the dentist. You cannot feel more comfortable at a dental office then at r Datu at Smile Gallery Dental,. My husband has now joined me in the past 13 yrs to see Dr. Datu's and he too enjoys Dr. Datu's and his colleagues personal caring personality. THAHNK YOU Smile Gallery Dental you make me smile. I consider my self a big chicken when it comes to going to the dentist which is why I'm so thankful for Dr. Datu and his entire smile gallery staff! I highly recommend anyone from children to seniors. They have been so kind and patient with me and all my fears. I was recommended by my mother-in-law who has been a patient of Dr. Datu's for many years, I now bring in my four children too. We have all had great experiences. I've even made the leap of correcting a long over due cosmetic procedure of a chipped tooth that had yellowed over the years. My smile has never looked better. I have been a patient for about 10 years now and highly recommend Dr Datu and staff. I once left for a dentist closer to home but came back to Dr Datu's office as soon as I could. His office is friendly, efficient, caring, and clearly explain all treatments. They make you feel like family from the moment you walk in the door. :)

I have been a patient for 14 years. When I moved from the East Coast, finding a reliable dentist was difficult. After many disappointing visits to other dentists, I finally stumbled upon Smile Gallery Dental. Initially I went because it was close to my work and hoping I would not have the same bad experience as with the other dentists. I was amazed by the warm and friendly staff. Dr. Datu is also friendly, knowledgable, and most importantly honest. The cleanings and check ups are very thorough and any other procedure you need is explained in detail along with the costs. I have had to replace several crowns from previous dentists and Dr. Datu's work is meticulous! Even though I no longer work in the area, I still drive 40 min. to the dentist and I now even bring my children to see him!
