Kenneth D. Gibbs has served as CEO of Maimonides Medical Center(MMC) since January 2016. In March of 2022 he also took on the role of President of Maimonides Health, the Brooklyn-based health system that includes both MMC and Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital (MMCH) as well as a broad network of ambulatory services.

Mr. Gibbs joined the Board of Trustees at Maimonides Medical Center in 2013 and was Chair from May 2014 through December 2015, during which time Maimonides formed an affiliation with Northwell Health.

During his tenure as President & CEO, MMC has continued to build upon its legacy of clinical excellence and innovation, achieving designation as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and establishing Brooklyns only Pediatric Trauma Center and Comprehensive Spine Center. For each of the last four years, Maimonides has ranked among the top 10 health systems nationwide for clinical performance according to comparative data published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Maimonides Heart and Vascular Institute is consistently among the nations top performers and in 2020 ranked #1 in the nation for heart attack survival rates. Maimonides Jaffe Comprehensive Stroke Center is among the top 1% in the U.S. for patient survival rates.

Before leading Maimonides, Mr. Gibbs was President of the Municipal Securities Group of Jefferies, LLC for seven years. Prior to that, he was the CEO of DEPFA First Albany Securities, LLC and held several leadership positions at First Albany Capital, Inc. over the course of 14 years. He also held various investment banking positions at Lazard Freres, First Boston and Kidder Peabody.

Mr. Gibbs is a member of the Executive Committee and past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the New York Citizens Budget Commission. He is a member of the Board of Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors. He is a past Chair of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) PAC, past Chair of SIFMAs Municipal Executive Committee and a past member of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.

For 7 years in a row, the American Stroke Association has given Maimonides its highest recognition for quality and safety for our Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our team of Neuroscience experts includes the full array of subspecialists, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interventional neuroradiologists. The Jaffe Stroke Center offers cutting-edge treatment techniques and new hope for stroke victims.

The Maimonides Department of Population Health aims to improve the well-being of the Brooklyn community by transforming the healthcare system and developing processes that support health and social services organizations.

The Brooklyn Health Home coordinates medical and behavioral healthcare services for New York State Medicaid patients by connecting qualifying individuals with physical and behavioral health concerns to care management services. It is built on the foundation of a successful program developed at Maimonides, along with many community-based organizations with funding provided by New York State.

Brooklyn Communities Collaborative (BCC) is a not-for-profit based in Brooklyn that works with local institutions and stakeholders to address longstanding health inequities in the borough. BCC was founded in 2019 with the goal of leveraging the financial power of anchor institutions and community resources to address the economic factors that improve the social determinants of health whether its supporting housing stability, advancing economic empowerment, expanding care management services, or strengthening CBOs in the area.

Community Care of Brooklyn IPA (CCB IPA) is an integrated network of health and social services partners committed to improving the health and well-being of diverse communities across Brooklyn, keeping care local wherever and whenever possible. CCB IPA negotiates value-based payment contracts on behalf of its network, and earns shared savings which are then distributed to partners and reinvested in infrastructure. CCB IPAs network includes hospitals, FQHCs, behavioral health providers and more than 450 primary care providers working across 75 sites with PCMH recognition, together responsible for managing care for more than 80,000 individuals.

Community Care of Brooklyn (CCB) is a network of over 1,000 health and social service organizations working together to improve the health and well-being of over 600,000 Medicaid beneficiaries in Brooklyn under New York States Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment program, which ended in 2019.

Maimonides conductsregular community health assessments to inform the community services that our organization delivers. Through the assessment process, we gather input from community-based organizations, local residents, and primary care providers, in addition to analyzing public health data. Every3years, Maimonides publishes a Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Service Plan which aligns with the New York State Department of Health Prevention Agenda priorities. This report is approved by our Board of Trustees and filed with the New York State Department of Health. By conducting and releasing this report, we strive to better Brooklyn.

Maimonides network of ambulatory health centers brings primary care services into neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn. These health centers serve the community and are tailored to meet the healthcare needs of the local neighborhoods.

Our Community Mental Health Center staff provides mental health services to our neighbors on a daily basis. After the September 11th tragedy, we offered support and help to individuals and families dealing with the loss of loved ones and community members. We continue that support today.
