I believe in providing painless dental care that improves the lives of each of my patients. Whether they need to be relieved of pain, have function restored, or desirea more beautiful smile, I am here to help.
By taking the time to speak with each person, and ask about their goals and concerns, Im able to develop individual treatment plans that are right for their situation. Just as each patient is unique, so too are their needs. As a dentist, its my responsibility to figure out whats the best solution to each persons requirements.
I serve a diverse group of patients, of all ages, and enjoy the conversations we have. Those conversations build rapport and we often become friends. I look forward to their visits to hear the latest news about their family and life, and am honored they share so much with me.
I was born in Minot, North Dakota, and moved to southern Nevada where I graduated from Indian Springs High School. I obtained my Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. I was accepted to and attended Oregon Health and Science University, where Iearnedmy Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
After graduating, I joined the US Navy and completed rotations in oral diagnostics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery at home and abroad for six years. After an honorable discharge and satisfying my military obligation at Naval Submarine BaseBangor, I bought a private practice in Silverdaleand have been here ever since.
Dentistry is a constantly evolving field. The ongoing changes in treatments, availability of new materials, and developing technologiesmean I must stay uptodate. By attending conferences and lectures, participating in hands-on demonstrations, and reading the current literature, Im able to remain current. My patients trust that I will offer them the widest array of proven treatments; pursuing continuing education ensures Im able to do so.
Ive enjoyed a longstanding passion for running. Ive checked off most of my bucket list items in running, including completion ofthe New York City Marathon and Boston Marathon. Im always up for a run! Ive worked at Emerald Downs racetrack and casino, to providelow-income dentistryfor ten years. I also collect Radio Flyer wagons, which you may see around the office during your visit.
We recognize that all our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
I love working with patients:helping them achieve greater oral and systemic health by finding the right solutions that will work for them, and acknowledging the improvements when they implement changes. I enjoy spending my days working one-to-one with my patients. Each person has their own needs and concerns, so I spend time talking with and listening to them. The best part of working here is that were like a family. While we take dentistry seriously, we enjoy working together and it shows.
My husband, daughter, and I enjoy going on local hikes, though I may have to drag them now and again. We are also avid campers, especially to the Columbia River in Eastern Washington. I enjoy scrapbooking, and have recently become an avid cook.
Im in charge of a little bit of everythingwhatever is needed to keep the office running smoothly. That includes helping the front desk, marketing, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll. I love getting to know the patients and their families. My main focus is making sure each day runs smoothly, which enables the staff to provide the best care experience for our patients. I always keep an eye out for new ways we can better meet our patients needs and make their experience in our office the best ever.
I have been married for more than 35 years to my high-school sweetheart and have two adult children, two dogs, and three parrots. I have recently become a first-time grandma to the sweetest little boy. My husband and I are both enjoying ournew role as grandparents. I also love spending time with family, reading a good book, and being outside in the sunshine whenever it appears.
I enjoy meeting new people. I learn from each person, and love making sure they are happy and comfortable during their visits. No matter what their needs, Im here to help them. I provide chairside assistance to Dr. Houpt during dental procedures, to supportthe patient and keepthem updated on whats happening. I also sterilize our tools and equipment. My most important task, though, is to makesure a patient is smiling and happy with the care they receive.
My life revolves around my wonderful son and daughter, both of whom are active in many extracurricular activities. I love supporting their various passions and cheering them on. I also enjoy all that nature offers and love to hike, camp, and explore the outdoors.
I feel so lucky because I work in both our front office and our clinic area, which makes each day differentand exciting. I enjoy welcoming patients as they arrive, assisting during procedures, and concentrating on our patients comfort and happiness. The conversations I have with our patients are the highlights of my days. I enjoy hearing whats happening in their lives and about their plans, too.
Ive been married for more than 40years to the same wonderful man. I have two adult children and one stepdaughter, and eight wonderful grandkids who all keep us very busy. I love spending time with my family, camping, reading, and going for rides on our motorcycle.
My cup is always half full if not overflowing. My husband Jimmy and I have been married for more than 35years. We still have stars in our eyes for each other. We have two youngadult children, JaimePaige and Michael. We enjoy watching them choose their paths of adventure into the real world. I am an avid reader and I take joy in long walks on the beach. Also, my favorite color (at least for today) is crystal ocean blue.
I love working with my patients. The friendships that have formed over the years are precious and heartfelt. I am excited to meet new patients as I know we will become friends, too. While I provide thorough and very gentle hygiene care, I particularly enjoy educating patients. I know if a person understands the why and how of what I teach them, and the importance of oral health, then we both end up winners. When I see a clean and bright smile at a recall visit, Im thrilled!
When not working, I love being active, whether thats indoors or out. Hiking, paddle-boarding, running, and fun at the lake, as well as BBQs, are all enjoyed. I have a daughter who will be attending college in the fall of 2018, which leaves me as an empty nester. However, I have been blessed with three companions: Ryker and Sampson, my pups, and Maklemore, our cat. Coming home to these three always warms my heart and fills my soul.
