The dentist performs most of his dental procedures while wearing a pair of funny-looking glasses called surgical telescopes. These powerful glasses have magnifiers on them, allowing the dentist to see fine details that would go unnoticed to the naked eye.

As the oldest of five Arizona-born siblings, Dr. Ford loved science and biology and saw in dentistry the opportunity to continue to study science and apply it while serving his patients. When he was 19, he interrupted his college studies and spent two years in missionary service at the mouth of the Amazon River in Brazil. Living and working in the jungle was an exciting experience for Dr. Ford and he came home with many stories and fluency of the Portuguese language. Upon returning, he finished his final year of study at Brigham Young University and graduated at the top of his class, Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Ford attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry and graduated in June 2004. During his studies, he completed various rotations to gain additional skills in treating children, helping patients with particular dental fears, and treating dental emergencies in a hospital setting. He also pursued elective training in oral surgery and conscious sedation. In June 2004 he was awarded the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Horace Wells Award for excellence in anesthesiology.

Upon graduating from Dental School, Dr. Ford practiced general dentistry in Renton for 3 years before purchasing the practice of Gary Lincicome on April 1, 2008, (who had purchased the practice from his father before him.) After three very satisfying years caring for his new patients, Dr. Ford had the opportunity to expand his dental practice through the purchase of the neighboring dental practice of Dr. Camelia Espahbod and Dr. Ralph Jarrendt, and the merger of these practices into a single dental family. During this time the office underwent many technological and patient-care improvements to better serve our community; and, most importantly, being a third-generation dental practice, we strive to uphold a legacy of loyalty and trust between ourselves and our patients and community. Some of our families have been in our care since the 1950s!

Dr. Ford is a part of the South King County community. He is also a member of the John Smith Study Club, the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. Dr. Ford appreciates the needs of the under-served both within and without of his community. Since he became a dentist, he has been fortunate to take trips to Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala to provide dental care to the under-served in those countries. Here at home, he has cared for many patients in his community through work at various government-subsidized dental clinics in the Seattle-Metro area. Someday soon, he plans to visit Brazil again to provide volunteer dentistry to the under-served Brazilians.

When Dr. Ford is not practicing dentistry, he likes hiking, camping, biking, racquetball, tennis, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, and just about any other outdoor sporting activity. When the weather doesnt permit outdoor recreation, he enjoys reading biographies about the Revolutionary War, and our nations beginnings.

Very informative during every visit. I love that Nancy, the receptionist always tried her best to accommodate my work schedule. I'm usually the last patient that they see on a Monday. Daniela is wonderful. I was very hesitant going back to the dentist since my last dentist thought it would be ok to do countless root canals when it wasn't needed. She made everything so much better. I like how modern his office is. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. Thank you to my brother in law for recommending this place.

On 9/6/22 I had a routine cleaning + exam on #18 crown that came off at Dr David B Ford office. Dr. Ford said there's a cavity on it so it needs a new crown instead of just glue it back. He tested #18 with ice, I didn't feel any pain, just feel the cold. Similar situation when I was first visited his office six months ago, he said I need a filling on#1 and #2 while I didn't have any issues with those teeth. He said he will cut 50% off the cost for doing the crown for#18. Six months ago the office quoted $1500 each for doing the crown on #30/31. Now the office charge $2440 with down payment of $1944 and said that's the discount price. The office people wanted to collect the money for the 9/6 visit right away instead of billing my insurance first and they are very rude. I will never recommend this office to anyone. But the hygienist is doing a very good job.

I went to David Ford DDS after really great reviews from my loved ones. They knew that I was super anxious to go to the dentist and told me their experience here was something that would be really great for me. About a month ago I went in for an exam and cleaning and really enjoyed the hygienist and Dr. Ford. Even though some reviews stated Dr. Ford's demeanor was unbecoming to them, I think he just presents information in a particular way that is sometimes tough to receive. However, when it comes to your teeth, being straight forward is important (to me)! I also appreciated that they took a deeper attempt to understand what my goals were, what made me comfortable, uncomfortable (showing me xrays versus actual images on my teeth freak me out and they were very accommodating). However, I was told that I need about 5 fillings for my teeth. While this is not super unexpected (I have invisalign and i've always struggled to maintain perfect oral hygiene), I was not expecting a nearly $900 estimate. To be clear, I have incredibly good insurance and thought that what they were quoting me for just couldn't be accurate. I agreed to even open a care credit card because I was stressed about being able to pay this much money. Related, but the issue was resolved, the nearly $900.00 estimate was charged to this credit card before I even left the parking lot even though I did not receive any services yet! After crying in my car, I figured out how to cancel that transaction and I'm really grateful that it was... I went home and called my dental insurance to confirm that this is what I would pay (even with the "special" filling composite that they suggested i get). My dental insurance suggested I get a pre-authorization because they didn't understand what I was being quoted for. I called the front desk to ask them to submit one and they did. A few weeks later, my quote was still nearly $900. I called my insurance back, particularly regarding my charge of anesthesia since typically you are not charged that separately. My insurance told me that they are not allowed to bill me (the patient) directly per their contract and the pre-authorized amount was actually correct (nearly HALF what they were quoting me). When I attempted to explain this to the front desk, they told me "thats just how we bill it" and "we dont bill insurance for anesthesia." I repeatedly have asked them to contact my insurance because there was obviously a misunderstanding between what they were quoting me and what my insurance said they would cover. I finally just cancelled the appointment and will unfortunately have to go to another dentist to get the work done... which really sucks because I enjoyed the exam that I had. But, similar to other reviews regarding the front office, there is a disconnect in explanation of services and why I would be charged for something that my insurance claims they cover. It was particularly frustrating that neither the front desk (or my insurance, which is a whole other issue) would communicate to each other for clarification...

This was my first visit to this dentist. Very friendly and competent staff, from the front desk to the hygienist. They seemed to value my questions/concerns and what I was looking for in my dentist. I was surprised to find out that I had 2 cavities, which my previous dentist never noted, even though I go every 6 months. It seems a bit expensive to fix this though, but it could be due to my insurance coverage, and I felt slightly pressured to get the higher end of the estimate. It is what it is though.

I've always been very happy with the service I receive from Dr. Ford and his staff. Everyone is always pleasant, helpful, and competent. I used to absolutely hate going to the dentist, but I don't feel that way anymore; it's never a bad experience at Dr. Ford's office. I highly recommend Dr. Ford. Update: Yesterday's visit was great, as usual. I stand by everything I said before. I still wouldn't change anything I said before.

I came to David Fords office and had a nice initial visit. Unfortunately, after my initial cleaning I learned they use high pressure sales tactics for both very expensive procedures and a Wellness Program. During a moment of weakness, I was talked into the Wellness Program... $69 a month, allows you one cleaning every 3 months. After I signed up, I was brought into an office where the findings of my cleaning were revealed to me, they reccomended a $9,000 deep cleaning, insisting it was necessary. Extremely uncomfortable I left and immediately got a second opinion from an old family dentist. He assured me it was not "absolutely necessary" and reccomended some alternatives, also including my dental hygiene wasn't perfect but certainly not poor enough to warrant this steroidal treatment they were insisting. This left such a bad taste in my mouth, I felt like I had left a used car dealership. The Wellness Plan slowly slipped my mind, as these subscription services are designed to do. I received a couple texts over the next year reminding me of my available cleanings and each time I planned on going, but just never felt comfortable. I had never been pressured to have an unnecessary medical procedure by a medical professional, so this place just never sat right with me. Very clean office, mostly likable staff but in my experience it's all a facade to over prescribe and upsell. In the end, I spent over $1,000 on my "Wellness Plan" Which i take full responsibility for, they got me. But usually when a loyal customer has been paying a business for so long, they're willing to work with you in order to accommodate. There were no accommodations, just very matter of fact text messages exchanged on the way to me canceling my subscription. I was wondering if I had accrued any credit at all toward cleanings, if there was anything that could be done about a $150 cancelation fee, for an appointment I had made about 12 hours earlier, and there was nothing. I was told "The Wellness Program is like a gym membership...gotta go to the gym to take advantage of what you are paying for." I understood immediately. After reading over the contract that's exactly what it's like. A gym membership. I personally hope the medical professionals in my life hold themselves to a slightly higher standard than my LA Fitness, but that's just me. At any rate, my fault! But certainly not the type of upfront and honest dentist that I'll be giving my business to. Edit: Also, if you look closely at many of the reviews for David Ford's office, many accounts only have one review, as they offer customers incentive to leave a positive review. Just another tactic, small albeit, to mislead potential customers.
