One of the most basic, yet often overlooked, practices in many other dental offices is providing personal time and care to each and every person. We pride ourselves on drawing from our own experiences as patients when treating others, and we welcome the opportunity to build satisfying and long-lasting relationships with everyone both adult and child, alike. It is part of our mission to prove to anyone coming to us for treatment that they will never suffer through poor dental care or unnecessary pain while in our hands.
During your initial session with us, we will conduct a thorough review of your medical and dental history. Your teeth, gums, and mouth will then receive a thorough examination. Risk assessments regarding any wear of the teeth, sleep breathing disorders, and the proper function of the jaw joints will be given. An oral cancer screening will also be preformed. At that time, we may also take x-rays of your teeth and jaws. My Team and I encourage everyone to communicate openly with us during this initial meeting. Do not hesitate to discuss any and all concerns, desires, and questions such as:
My Team and I believe in offering special care to cater to the needs of children. Beginning early with dental visits helps create a lifelong understanding and comfort level with routine check-ups and special needs care.
We strive to offer the best possible dental care available to regular and new clients alike. If you are looking for a dental practice where your needs are placed above all else, please contact us today.
The prevention of tooth decay and gum disease is a lifelong process that can and should begin as early as possible. My Team and I believe in the importance of teaching everyone how to care for their teeth and how to maintain good oral health.
In our practice, you are a partner all dental care and procedural decisions are made only after thorough discussion between you, me, and the rest of my Team. This is a tough page for me to write. I was raised to be humble and not to go around bragging about things that I have done. But my website developer says that I need to write this so people will know more about me as a person as they research my site, so here goes!
I am passionate about dentistry and about helping people. My main goal is quality oral health and reliable, friendly service for all who come to me. I believe that the combination of your good health and the ability to look and feel good is the recipe for happiness and success in life. And I believe that education is an important first step toward achieving good oral health, which is a long-term investment in yourself and your family. When working with me, making decisions and personal choices becomes a joint effort.
My greatest passion is the challenge of helping people with difficult issues from which others have been unable to provide them relief. Check out the testimonials section of the website to see what some of those who I have helped have had to say.
People are always asking me why or what made me decide to become a dentist. I tell them that I really do not recall the specific events, but I do recall choosing to attend a dentistry career day presentation in 8th grade. While living through braces at Wilson Senior High School (class of 82), I had some discussions with my orthodontist and thought that the mechanics of braces was right up my alley. But when I got to dental school and learned so many other interesting skills, and knowing that if I kept on the path of becoming an orthodontist I would have to give up on most of those, I decided that General Dentistry was a better fit for me. I also knew that a general dentist could take additional courses and learn how to do the braces, thus allowing me to satisfy both aspects of my passion. It took a few years to get the courses in, but I did it, and for many years now I have been able to help even more people with these additional skills.
I received a B.S. in 1986 from Penn State University and my D.D.S. from New York University in 1990. Since then, I have earned a Fellowship from of the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dental Studies. At LVI, I have completed courses that focus on:
By the way, LVI celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2015. In that time, over 10,000 alumni from 48 different countries have come to LVI to learn and become more than just your average dentist. The alumni from North America represent only 5% of the licensed dentists in North American. Of those, only 5% (that is one quarter of 1% of all North American dentists) have attained Fellowship status as I have. I am currently working on my Mastership and hope to soon join this even smaller, even more elite group.
I am also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA), and the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and I am a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) and a member of the International Association of Mercury-Free Dentists I have not placed a metal filling containing mercury since 1990. I am also a Fellow of the International Association of Physiologic Aesthetics (IAPA), an organization that promotes education on the interconnections between the mouth and the rest of a persons health.
I am a member of the Berks County Dental Society, where I have served in many positions, including twice as President. I have served as a delegate for over 10 years for the 4th District of the PDA as well as their President, and have served as an alternate delegate to the ADA. I am also a proud member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
I am pleased to introduce my Team, without whosededication to our mission I could never hope to achieve the level of care that we all strive for. Since I had to write about myself, I requested the members of my Team to do the same. They were not very happy like me, they are quite modest. But with assurance that it would not harm them to write about themselves, here, in their own words, is what they wrote:
My first Team member is Nancy. She is also my wife of over 20 years. People ask how we can stand to work together for the past 20+ years. Arent you at each others throats? We usually respond by saying that I let her be in charge at home, and she lets me think I am in charge at the office.
In 1974, I earned my certifications as both a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) through The Dental Assistants National Board (DANB), and as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) through the Lehigh County Community College. In Pennsylvania, an EFDA is now certified to place, contour, and finish filling materials after a dentist has removed all the decay.
I am a member of the American Dental Assistants Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Assistants Association, and the Berks County Dental Assistants Society, where I have served as President and currently serve as Treasurer. I volunteer annually at the local Give Kids a Smile event and help with third grade presentations in Februarys National Childrens Dental Health Month. I am a mother of three and a grandmother of two. And I also teach Sunday school.
