Dr. Nelson is a third generation dentist and second generation periodontist from the Bay Area. His grandfather, Willis Nelson, practiced general dentistry in Menlo Park for 31 years and his father, Stephen, is a periodontist in San Mateo. His office in Mountain View is less than three miles from his childhood home.
Dr. Nelson is dedicated to education and volunteering, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCSF School of Dentistry. He has lectured to dental students and residents in periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics and hospital dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Nelson enjoys nature photography, volunteering, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, surfing, camping and SCUBA diving. Dr. Nelsons wife, Melanie, is a teacher and volunteers with him on dental trips, teaching local children the importance of brushing, flossing and preventive care. They have two young children.
Blossom is our Business Administrator and truly enjoys periodontics. She has a biology degree and has been in dentistry since 1996. With this many years of experience, both clinically, and administratively, she understands what patients go through and knows what it feels like to make that first call to the office. Blossom sincerely cares about peoples health.
Sandy is our Surgical Assistant and loves working in dentistry because it enhances smiles, self-confidence and quality of life for our patients. She has Bachelor of Science degree and a RDAEF (Registered Dental Assistant Extended Function) license. She has experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, as well as periodontal and implant surgery. Prior to joining our team, Sandy taught dental assisting at Carrington College in San Jose.

Dr. Nelson is very patient,knowledgeable, thorough, and honest. He spent over an hour on my consultation and explained everything to me in detail. He wasn't pushy at all and told me that I don't need extra procedures unless I worry about the aesthetics. Highly recommended!

I went to see Dr Nelson to get a second opinion about getting a dental implant. He was professional and knowledgeable, and helped me get the information I needed to make the health decision I feel comfortable with.

The staff are very friendly. This is the second time I have been there and they were very nice. They do a great job I've never had any issues after the surgery. I highly recommend this dentist he does a great job and is very informative on th surgery.
