Dr. Daniel Appel graduated from Loma Linda University in 2005. Following graduation he practiced in Seattle for five years, experiencing cutting edge technology in a high demand environment. Because of this experience, Dr. Appel strives to incorporate new technology and materials into his health care practice in a way that is safe and trustworthy. Quality, gentle dental care is the cornerstone of Dr. Appels office.
One of Dr. Appels passions in dentistry is learning about new innovations and developments in the dental field. He attends many continuing education courses throughout the year to always stay on the cutting edge. Dentistry is most rewarding when all of the hard work and education result in a patient who is truly thrilled with their dental experience. Dr. Appel is a member of several organizations that focus on dental advancement and continual learning.
Together with his wife, Dr. Appel moved from Seattle back to California for a smaller town atmosphere and to live closer to their families. They currently live with their daughters, two English Mastiffs, and a brood of chickens. Dr. Appel is proud to be living and practicing in Butte County.
When not working, Dr. Appel has a wide range of hobbies. He loves outdoor sports and anything to do with self defense and shooting. Dr. Appel loves to travel and explore new areas around the United States and abroad. Recently Dr. Appel has been enjoying gold panning and firearms. He is an avid home handyman, forester, gardener, and father. To relax Dr. Appel loves coffee, chai, crossword puzzles, and great books. His most cherished time is time spent with his wife and daughters. Following the Camp Fire, Dr. Appel and family continue to believe strongly in Butte County while they are also working to rebuild their own property and home.

Allie moved to Chico in 2007 to attend Chico State. She graduated in 2011 with a bachelors degrees in art history. After graduating she went back to school to study dental hygiene. She attended Santa Rosa Junior College and graduated in 2016 as a registered dental hygienist. Allie has also worked in the dental field as a sterilization technician, assistant, and at the front desk.
Melody is the longest standing employee of this office, cheerfully welcoming patients at the front desk for over 20 years. She was born in El Sobrante, California and has been a resident of Oroville since moving here in 1973.
Melody loves horses, softball, racquetball, snow skiing, and any other sport she tries. Melody and her husband enjoy visiting Lake Tahoe every summer. She has two beautiful daughters and four awesome grandchildren that keep her endlessly busy.

Best and most honest dentist in Oroville. I never had good teeth or a great smile and Dr. Appel was amazing!! I can't stop smiling!! I suggest listening to what he says and be patient and the results are amazing!! I went to 2 other dentists for quotes and Dr. Appel was recommended and I went for a third quote and was so pleased with the honesty, comfort, and knowledge that I chose Dr. Appel. I give him 10 stars!!!

Dr. Appel and his entire team are wonderful. I have weak teeth and high anxiety, but the kind, respectful, and relaxed atmosphere in Dr. Appel's office makes it easy for me to relax. Everyone is friendly, as well as highly skilled and excellent at what they do. I especially appreciate that they explain everything they are going to do before they do it in clear, calm terms. They really focus on keeping me comfortable throughout the entire experience from start to finish, and even with their instructions for home care. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but I highly recommend Dr. Appel and his team.

Make sure they are contracted with your insurance. Some how they "forgot "to tell me they are not contracted with mine. The girl at the front office said they usually have you sign that you know they are not contracted. Paid the out of network copay.

Most amazing visit to the dentist I have ever had. The entire staff is so caring and respectful. I have had a lot of dental work done in the past and I've always had pain during and after my visit. Not this time you guys are amazing thank you so much.

I'm 66 years young and I have had plenty of dental work over the years and this was by far the best experience I've ever had! Absolutely no pain at all! Never even felt the injections! I highly recommend Dr. Appel!

Dr.Appel and his staff are amazing..I have extensive dental needs..they have gone out of their way to fit me in for extra for appointments. I've been extremely apprehensive about going to a dentist as chemo and radiation destroyed what I had. They really go out of their way to make you comfortable. The nitrous is an added free bonus. Every step of the way I understand what is happening and what is going to happen. I have a long way to go but I'm so glad I chose this office. I know the outcome will be amazing! I have and will continue to highly recommend this office!

needed a cleaning and a new crown (from years ago) Dr Appels office was able to do both services and cater to my schedule. Everybody from the front desk, hygienists, his assistant and Dr Appel were awesome. no pain, explained everything as the procedures went on. great experience! thank you Dr Appel, Erin, Jennifer, Melody and Trish total 5 star practice.
