Dr. Dunwody attended Lanier High School for Boys in Macon, Georgia. He continued to the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Dunwody then entered an orthodontic residency at Emory University School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1977 and his Certificate of Orthodontics in 1979.
Dr. Dunwody has been in practice for30 years and has lectured on orthodontics to general dentists for the mastership program at the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Dunwody participates in many continuing education courses involving dentofacial growth and development from embryology to the dentofacial changes as aging occurs, occlusion (bites), temporomandibular joints and associated structures and practice management. Dr. Dunwody states, The challenges of the information age regarding orthodontic care are both enlightening and challenging. All of us are committed to lifelong learning that will benefit our patients care and improving our service and experience.
Dr. Dunwody also volunteered for 12 years as an Assistant Scout Master and committee member for Troop #648, volunteered for eight years as a soccer coach for West Gwinnett Soccer Club and volunteered for three years as United Way Co-Chairman for dentists in Gwinnett County. In addition to his time volunteering, Dr. Dunwody sponsors and supports the community and his patients sporting and cultural activities at over 10 high schools. His other sponsorships include The Cancer Ball of Gwinett County, Ducks Unlimited Banquet and the West Gwinnett Soccer Club.
In addition, Dr. Dunwody is considered board-eligible for Diplomate status in the American Board of Orthodontics. Also, Dr. Dunwody has had leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the:
'The study of orthodontia is insolubly connected with that of art as related to the human face. The mouth is the most potent factor in making or marring the beauty and character of the face. The form and beauty of the mouth largely depends on the occlusal relations of the teeth.
Our duties as orthodontists force upon us great responsibilities. There is nothing in which the student of orthodontia should be more keenly interested in than art generally and especially in relation to the human face, for each of his efforts makes for beauty or ugliness; harmony or disharmony; for perfection or deformity of the face. Hence it should be one of his life studies.'

Dr. Dunwody and ALL of his staff are wonderful. He is very thorough and knowledgeable, as well as kind and caring. His staff is joyful and comforting when helping you. They are experts in their field. I highly recommend him for any Orthodontic work you may require, no matter your age.

Dr. Dunwody and his staff, from office management to accounting to the clinicians, are outstanding in their professionalism, attentiveness, friendliness and support during the 2 year+ process; so much so, that, although I'll sound crazy posting this, I'm actually going to be sad when it's over and my teeth are straight. They've made a challenging and lengthy process enjoyable and memorable. The strong camaraderie among the staff is remarkable and creates a very pleasant patient environment that is extremely rare in the clinical setting.

Dr. Dunwody and his staff are flexible, easy to work with, professional, but most of all, kind and thoughtful. Combined with a "best practices" approach to running the practice, and reasonable pricing/flexible payment plans, I can't recommend them enough. That said, my entire family has benefited by using Dr. Dunwody.

Today was my first visit Dr. Dunwody. He was highly recommended by my hygienist and a friend. when I arrived his staff greeted me with a smile;they were ready for me. everyone was kind, friendly, professional and efficient. The doctor sat down and talked with me a little while and then did the exam. after the exam, he talked with me further and explained everything, answering all of my questions. I am very impressed and feel confident in his credentials and his recommendations.

I just had my braces removed 6months ago and I am so pleased with the results. I didn't get braces for cosmetic reasons, my bite was completely off and it was damaging my bottom teeth from wear and tear hitting my upper teeth. My bite is now corrected, my teeth all line up and I feel like I am more confident when I smile at others. After all it is one of the first things people notice about you! Very happy with Dr. Dunwody and his staff is awesome!!

I didn't plan on being an adult in braces during a pandemic. Dr. Dunwody & his staff have set up many procedures to add to the health and safety of his patients. It's their usual awesome professionalism ratcheted up a notch. They were willing to answer all the questions I had over the phone in advance. Shout out to Erica! She's the best!

I was extremely pleased with the ortho consult today performed by Dr. Dunwody and staff. The pre-visit communications were thorough. The biosecurity practices in place with the current outbreak were reassuring. The entire staff was polite and professional. I felt well informed about my treatment plan moving forward and appreciated the thorough evaluation and explanations. I am looking forward to next steps in my treatment.
