Patients have recognized our commitment to providing the local community with outstanding dental care; our practice has received several Readers Choice Awards in the best dentist category from the Montgomery Advertiser.

Most of our team has been here for years, and we truly love our jobs. We know the majority of our patients by name. We consider them friends, as much as patients, and we enjoy getting to know them on a personal level.

Of course, dental concerns do arise. For this reason, we offer a variety of restorative treatments, including crowns, bridges, fillings, dentures, and more. Our restorations are made of durable, natural looking dental porcelain. This advanced material is nearly as indestructible as metal. It will also match your surrounding teeth to maintain the aesthetic integrity of your smile. When performing restorative treatments, we always take a minimalistic approach. We remove as little natural tooth structure as possible, while still improving the health of the tooth.

Because you and your family are valued patients, we want to assure you that we take every precaution to control and prevent the spread of diseases and infections in this office. In carrying out this philosophy, we take the following protective measures:

You can feel assured that everything is being done to meet and exceed all government guidelines for protecting you and your family members in this office. If you have any questions regarding infection control measures used in this office, please ask the doctor or any of the staff members. We will be happy to explain all procedures and safeguards used to ensure your continued health. When you visit our office, you can feel confident that your health and the health of your family are protected.

During the past decade, dental benefit plans have become an integral part of healthcare planning for many families. But as beneficial as insurance can be, it can be a tremendous source of misunderstanding, fouled-up communication and stressed relationships between the patient and the dental office team. We dont want that, and neither do you. We believe that open and honest communication between the office staff and the patient combined with a realistic understanding of your benefit plan will reduce the chances of that happening.

To begin with, dental insurance is not really insurance at all it is an employee benefit. Just like your vacation. Or your retirement plan. Most dental benefit plans base the amount of benefit on a schedule of fees that is arbitrarily chosen by the insurance company. That benefit amount is also determined by the amount of money the employer wants to spend. Since the insurance company involved must make a profit in order to remain in business, you as a patient can get back only what your employer puts into the program minus the insurance companys profit.. To put it simply, the amount of employer payment less the amount of insurance company profit determines the amount of benefit you receive. In establishing its fee schedule, sometimes the insurance companys fee data can be out of date, or may not take into consideration local factors that are peculiar to Montgomery. For this reason, you may receive a lower actual benefit than the one indicated on your plan. For instance, if your plan states that it will pay 80% of the costs of a certain service, it really means that it will pay 80% of the arbitrary fee as set by the company, and not 80% of the fee that is actually charged.

As the number of patients covered by dental insurance has increased, certain assumptions have become evident and I would like to make clear the principles of my practice based on the service and care that I provide to my patients:

  • Most policies pay 90-100% of preventive procedures (exams, cleaning and x-rays, etc.), 50-80% of routine procedures (fillings, extractions and root canals,) and 0-50% of what is termed major treatment (crowns, bridges, and dentures.) Keep in mind that almost all policies have an annual deductible and a yearly maximum.
  • My fees are based on the overhead involved in my practice, the treatment plan selected by the you, the patient, and the time it takes me to provide you with the necessary dental care. I do not believe that it is in either of our best interests for me to recommend treatment based solely on an insurance companys arbitrary fee schedule. We will be more than happy to discuss a treatment plans advantages and disadvantages with you rather than your insurance company.

One of our hygienists, Cindy has been with me the longest, and after 25 years is still trying to decide if she will keep me or not. I keep holding my breath. Cindy has a married daughter who is a nurse, one husband, and too many animals to mention. They are ever changing. Cindy will make you glad you came.

I was born and raised in Gadsden Alabama, and attended Gadsden High School. Then I attended Auburn University where I graduated with honors in Chemistry, but more importantly, met my future wife, Rita. I didn't really want to be a chemist, but a dentist, ever since the fourth gradechemistry was just on the path to getting there. So after Auburn (War Eagle!) I attended The University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, finally got married in 1978 and graduated in 1979.

I started my dental practice in Rita's hometown of Montgomery in the summer of 1979, and have been here ever since. Rita and I have raised three beautiful daughters and now have corresponding son-in-laws and three grandchildren.

I've always tried to be involved in the community, but more in a shadowy kind of way. Our main focus has been our church, but I have served on the boards of Agape, an adoption and foster care agency, and Alabama Christian Academy for many years. Our girls were all heavily involved in sports, so that occupied a great deal of our time as they were growing up. Those were great times!

Professionally, I love being a dentist. I know a lot of people think it's kind of gross to look in people's mouths all day. But it's a lot more than that. It is improving someone's quality of life by relieving pain when needed; it is teaching good oral hygiene, which in turn helps keep the whole body healthy; it is restoring function to a broken mouth by replacing missing teeth; and it is giving people new smiles. That is probably my favorite because it can change someone's whole outlook on life. It's an absolute joy to see someone's personality blossom when they are no longer embarrassed about their ugly teeth or painful mouth. That always makes my day.

Dentistry has really changed through the years. But a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education every year helps me to keep current on all of the advances that are being made. New materials and techniques have made dentistry so much better and a lot more pain free.

Awesome as always! Been seeing Dr. Entrekin for many years. He and his staff (Janet and Cindy are the best!) are always professional, thorough and friendly. They really listen to what you say and do an excellent job. They do NOT recommend trendy unnecessary treatments just to make more money (this has been my experience with other dentists - not a feature!). I so appreciate them taking great care of my teeth!

I am not fond of dentists and have had bad experiences in the past. The visit to this office was actually a please and that is really something, especially coming from me. The doctor was awesome and his staff was exactly the same as he was. There was consistent excellence throughout, with kindness and compassion.

Always professional and compassionate. Worked me in quickly with an emergency. Took the time to diagnosis a complex abscess issue and got it straightened out that day with follow-up a few days later. Great dentist and great staff working with him.

I've been seeing Dr Entrekin for at least 10 years. I was always scared of the dentist's office when I was a kid (in a different town). This office is super friendly and totally Not Scary. Cindy cleans my teeth and I have actually come to look forward to my appointments. My most recent issue was a broken tooth, and Janet got me a super quick appointment, and Dr Entrekin had me up and running again in almost no time. Literally could not recommend these folks more.
