Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Our doctors practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries and fractures.
The surgical staff at Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires up to 6 additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, we treat a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Our surgeons practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise in corrective jaw surgery, wisdom tooth removal and oral pathology. They also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries and perform a full range of dental implant procedures.
Our staff is trained in assisting our surgeons with IV sedation within our office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. In addition, general anesthesia provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist is available within our facility.
Dr. Scott Rake graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1995. He went on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Rake joined Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999. He has been an adjunctive clinical professor at the University of Minnesota division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2000. Dr. Rake is involved in resident surgeon education in the areas of pediatric anesthesia and office-based surgical procedures. Dr. Rake provides full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in all five office locations.
Dr. Rake is a board-certified member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and the St. Paul District Dental Society.
Dr. Rake received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1997. She then completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is a graduate of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program at the University of Minnesota.
In 2002, Dr. Rake joined Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She remains active in academics as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, division of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Rake is a board-certified member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the St. Paul District Dental Society. She is a member and past president of the Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dakota Valley has a very friendly and professional staff. Dr. French and his assistant were very concerned about my comfort, as well as my understanding of the dental procedures. They clearly answered all my questions concerning recovery and healing. It was the best possible experience for a serious procedure.

Had my wisdom teeth removed, didn't really remember much after going under, the paperwork explained all my pills and what to and not to do as well as information on how to take care of my gums. Driver was given assistance with putting me in the car since I don't remember much they where also informed about what next step to take.

This group of doctors are the reason I smile. Like, the ACTUAL reason. They worked with me despite my financial position (broke) and treat me with nothing but warmth and respect. Please choose Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillary... you can't find better help for your dental problems. They have multiple locations too so check them out even if you aren't close to this particular office. You won't regret it.

I saw Dr French for an extraction. Before that the front desk had done their job well to prep me as to what was needed on the day of visit. When I checked in, I was greeted well and given the paperwork to review and make sure that it looked alright. During extraction, the nurse patiently explained me everything. Dr French made sure to explain everything, made sure things were clarified, allowed me to ask questions. The extraction was quick. I highly recommend Dakota valley.

I was referred to the Dakota Valley office for a tooth extraction by the Veterans Administration. Not having had an extraction since I was a child left me with a bit of anxiety. However, I had nothing to be concerned about, as the procedure was accomplished without pain and only mild discomfort. The staff at the clinic are all focused on assuring your care and wellbeing are a priority. I would highly recommend them should you need oral surgery or related issues.

I had to have emergency tooth extraction done and was very happy with the experience. I am very nervous when going to the dentist enough thet i shake uncontrollably. From the first minute that I walked in they made me feel comfortable and they were extremely nice and assured me it was going.to be fine. I wish that they did all sorts of regular dental care. First time that I ever felt ok with procedure and thank you to all that I dealt with. Will tell friends about experience. And there Ice Cream didn't hurt either lol

The reviews are so high for a reason! They really take care of you and do your best to make you comfortable. Nate and the whole team are great :). I got all four of my wisdom teeth out with very minimal swelling and I haven't experienced any real pain yet, only a bit of discomfort and so far I've only needed to use the ibuprofen. I would recommend this place to everyone because they are kind and know exactly what they're doing.

Hi. In 2016 I broke my jaw bilaterally. I cannot tell you the failed dental procedures. Recently a failed root canal resulted in an extraction. Dr. Rake at Dakota dental, was amazing. Staff excellent, very grateful

At the Shakopee location the office personnel are top notch. Dr. Indovina and technicians were very good at explaining what the steps of care that I would be receiving from extraction to dental implant. The billing department was quick with reimbursement after submitting to the insurance company. Thank you for your care.

Everything about this place is fantastic! This office is so welcoming. The receptionists are always so friendly and helpful. The dental assistants are caring and polite. Dr. Angie Rake is the BEST!! She doesn't push services on you, gives you advice, and listens to what you want, truly the BEST!
